~*UPDATE*~ Kinda craving some fluffy MxM. Also craving lotsa dark stuff with drugs and sex and poor decisions. (Alsoalso everything below still interests me, so, browse away).
Hello and welcome to my search thread! Some of you may recognise my name, as I was around earlier in the year before leaving due to real life issues. I am currently on the lookout for three or four long term roleplay partners! If you're interested, read on!
About Me I am Malice, I'm a roleplayer hailing from the UK. I've been roleplaying for well over a decade, everything from good ol' one liners on MSN, right the way through to eventually DMing my own D&D games. As of now, I enjoy writing casual to advanced roleplays, depending on the partner and plot. I have a wide range of interests (see below), but prefer to roleplay 18+; this doesn't necessarily mean smut, but I enjoy lots of themes that could be considered Mature (for example, detailed levels of gore, themes of death, etc.) I'd also like to point out, that mature doesn't mean it has to be serious and dark, either; I'd be more than happy to have a comedy romp, but humour, as we all know, has many forms.
As a roleplayer I like to believe I can deliver a variety of characters. I play all genders (including non-binary) and sexualities. I also enjoy doubling (tripling, etc.) in roleplays.
I can probably commit to, minimum, three or four replies a week. More if we live in a similar time zone/have a similar schedule.
What I'm looking For I'm looking for a roleplayer with a similar level of writing style; high casual to advanced. I'm looking for someone who is willing to help contribute to the plot and world building, and provide me with interesting characters to roleplay against. Ideally, I'd like you to be able to at least play male and female characters, so as I am not limited as to who I have to play; however, while I am willing to bend on this, do not come to me saying 'I want you to play male to my female' because it won't happen. As I said, I like not being limited in my character creation and giving me a specific gender to play is just a restriction I am not interested in. By all means come to me saying you'd like an MxM or FxF romance, but if you want a MxF romance at least give me the option of playin the leading lady. I'd also like someone who is dedicated and looking for a long term commitment.
Roleplays Let me start my saying I don't really have any set 'pairings' or 'plots' per se. I prefer to have a loose idea that is then worked into something between both myself and a partner. I've had ideas that have been a couple of sentences, that have then developed in to two completely different stories with different partners; I find this is the best way to create a world that both parties are happy with.
Romance - not necessary for me. That's not to say I am not open to having romance in a plot, but I prefer it to be a secondary point rather than the main. I also prefer romance to evolve between characters organically; too often I've been involved in romance roleplays where everything is so forced because, ultimately, the characters just aren't in to each other!
Comedy - as much as I love my dark, gritty oh so serious roleplays (and, trust me, I do) I also love a light hearted comedy, which seems to be harder to come by in roleplay partners. By comedies, think Terry Pratchett type humour, or even a zombie apocalypse à la Sean of the Dead.
Genres - I really do love a little bit of everything. I almost always prefer at least some element of fantasy in my roleplays; I already live in the real world, so I prefer my roleplays to take me somewhere else! However, this can be high fantasy, Victoriana or even urban fantasy (not exclusive). I also adore cyberpunk; I will love you until the end of days if we can come up with an excellent cyberpunk world to roleplay in (it happens so rarely).
Fandoms - I don't really do fandom roleplays. I just don't follow the same fandoms as most other people, so I just do not know the worlds well enough to really be able to roleplay them confidently. And the fandoms I follow very rarely crop up in people's interests! As it happens, if you happen to be a fan of either Devil May Cry or The Arcana, I may, may be persuaded. But don't hold your breath; I'm still not entirely certain I want to do either, but hey, you can try to win me over. (Addendum: if you even get halfway to whispering 'The Edge Chronicles' then there will be zero hesitation in a resounding 'abso-fucking-lutely'.)
18+ - As I said, I enjoy bringing in mature themes in to my roleplays; this can be heavy 18+ or even just 'pretty PG but all the characters swear like sailors and sometimes make inappropriate jokes'. I should like to mention that, due to my previous line of work, I have developed a gallows humour, so be aware of that. I am happy for detailed depictions of gore and horror. You should also be aware that I have characters (but this is not all of them; I have several with pretty happy backgrounds) who have histories of abuse, self harm, drug problems, violent tendencies, etc. However, if I'm thinking of using one of these characters I will let you know before hand and, if you are at all uncomfortable with it, I will either edit the character or write up a new one. Just because I'm happy to have these things, doesn't mean you are, or should you have to be. I want my partners to feel comfortable and the last thing I want to do is make you roleplay opposite a character that you're not okay with!
Plot Ideas - these are very open ended and I have no set ideas for which role either of us play. Romance is possible in all, but also not necessary in any. I would be more than willing to double for any of these plots if that takes your fancy!
Dark urban fantasy What happens when you wake up in a place you have never seen before with no recollection of how you got there? What happens when you realise you have died and you are in purgatory; your goal here is to somehow journey this plane, finding the answer to the questions that troubled you when you were alive. You will have to literally fight your demons if you ever want to move on.
Potential character ideas: recently dead, reaper/guide
Fantasy, Steampunk-esque distopia with Supernatural beings In an alternative reality, many creatures lurked in the night, hiding in the shadows. Two hundred years ago, the vampires formed an uprising and became the dominant race. Huge domes were erected over cities to create an eternal night, while humans were enslaved and farmed for food. But there is disrest in the capital. Humans are unhappy with their vampire overlords and an underground rebellion is forming. But what happens when a rebel comes in close contact with one of the most politically powerful vampires?
Potential characters: vampires, rebels, non-vampire super-naturals (e.g., werewolves, ghosts), which can be working with or against the vampires
Note: for me, vampires are monsters and this is how I expect them to be portrayed in this plot idea. No sparkles, yo.
Fantasy, medieval/Victorian, supernatural creatures There was a monster in the village, they were sure of it. Something was killing the livestock, then the villagers. One person was suspected and the village made the decision to hang them. Unfortunately, the village was only half right; the villager was a monster, but not the monster. As the date is set for capital punishment, disaster strikes the village, sending the whole place up in flames. The disaster leaves the monster villager stranded with one of their most dogged persecutors. The two must form an unlikely alliance in an attempt to stay alive in this depraved world.
Gritty, dark urban fantasy, demons and angels What happens when you come across an old friend who you could have sworn had died years ago? What happens when you find out that said friend is possessed by a demonic entity, hiding out in human bodies so as to evade being caught by angels, in response to having tried (and failed) to lead a rebellion against God?
Dark, dystopian, cyberpunk
Based on an old novel concept that died a death; one fan said it felt like a 'modern Frankenstein'. The year is 2087 and technology has progressed far, particularly in human augmentation. Predominantly, cybernetics are restricted for the army or the powerful, but if you delve into the dark net, you will find a community of bio hackers. Here, disgraced surgeons and home-grown 'body artists' produce pioneering modifications for anyone willing to pay; but these mods are not always safe. Most of these unauthorised modifcations find themselves used by criminals, hackers and underground fighting and so on. There is one person who seems to be at the top of this, producing the wildest modifications. What happens when the police are sent to investigate and uncover the identity of this black market artist?
Less of an actual plot and more of a concept that could be interesting to play out (or it could be a complete disaster). You have probably heard of DID (previously multiple personality disorder); hell, you might even have characters with this trait. So here's the kicker; what happens when two writers (i.e., us) write for different personalities of one person?
For this, we would likely need to have other characters on the side, but the main idea is having us both control two (or more) personalities of one person. The plot surrounding this could literally be anything.
As I said, this could either being interesting or fun, or a bonfire waiting to happen.
Fantasy/Urban Fantasy, Supernatural This plot is based on a dream I had, so its pretty fuzzy and definitely open to further input/development from my partner!
In this world there are certain benevolent 'spirits' that help keep the world safe; they are extremely powerful, but also extremely vulnerable and rare (there are, perhaps, only a handful of these spirits in the world). Each spirit has a human (or humanoid) guide, who cares for and protects it as it grows into its fully fledged form. Lyra is one such human; she belongs to a nomadic tribe and both of her parents were spirit keepers also. However, her parents were killed in an accident (I mean, they were mauled by wolves, which makes no sense given these spirits shoulda kept them safe, but dream logic) and so now she is alone in the world, trying to navigate it while keeping both herself and her spirit safe. There are people in this world who want to capture the spirits and/or their keepers, so that they can bend them to their will, and use them for malevolent purposes.
During her travels, Lyra comes across an orphaned boy in the forest (a Mowgli type character), who rescues her from a monster and helps teach her how to live in the forest, and a friendship blossoms. The boy then helps Lyra get her spirit to the far north so that it can evolve into its true form.
Yes, I have oddly detailed dreams. So, the world felt very 'Avatar' esque, although there were also scenes set in the real world, so I'd be up for adapting this to be wholly fantasy or more urban fantasy. I think I'd like something where Lyra and the boy (or girl, any gender really, your choice) meet and then travel this world trying to protect themselves from the dangers (either people after Lyra and/or the general dangers of being two young people orphaned in the world). If there is another role you'd like to play or any alterations to the vague plot I have, feel free to message me! I'd love to develop this into something bigger!
I realise my list of roleplay ideas is a bit open ended, so it may be difficult to really see what sort of direction we might go together, but I will try to update it with more specific ideas as and when I have them. Feel free to suggest your own plot(s) to me, whether they are vague or fully fledged! I am open to most things!
As for where and how, I'd prefer to interact over this forum (threads or PMs), but if that's a real no go we can discuss whether there is an alternative that we would both be happy with.
If this has interested you and you feel like we would be compatible roleplay partners, drop me a PM! Thank you for taking the time to check it out and I look forward to hearing from you!
Honestly not sure how I feel about this, but is is probably the first piece of roleplay I've written in four plus years. Here is the first character. Let me know your thoughts.
Yseult Ní Eidirsceóil
Le Fantôme Rouge
The Date they Joined the Circus (The Circus began on January 1, 1634) June 24th, 1638
“My act? I’m a mystic, but not a fortune teller.”
“A mystic? What exactly does that entail if you’re not a fortune teller?” Daniel asked the red-haired woman who stood before him, stretching her limbs in a slow, graceful fashion, that she claimed helped to keep her link to spirit world open and clear. “Traditionally,” Yseult began, the faintest trace of an Irish accent on her lips, not pausing in her fluid movements, “a mystic is a person who pursues truth beyond that of human experience. It is a spiritual link between the divine and the physical. But here? In this circus? My role is not that of a true ‘mystic’, but what people now believe one to be.” Yseult paused, arms stretched overhead, staring at the stars littering the night sky. After a beat, she continued, “I ‘cleanse souls’, whatever that means. Crystals, so called rituals. Hokum, you know. But it makes them feel better when I wave burning sage and chant in ancient tongues. And then they feel better when they leave the circus anyway.” Yseult drew her arms down, resting one hand on her hip; clearly she was done with stretching for now, “I also commune with spirits. Clients like to believe they are the souls of oved ones or guardian angels.” Yseult shrugged.
“Spirits?” Daniel barked a laugh, “As hokum as your cleansing I suppose?”
“Not at all. I can speak with spirits as clearly as I can with you here now.” Daniel could see from Yseult’s features that this was a question she had been asked before and one she was weary of answering. Before Daniel could speak again, Yseult cut in, “and no, it was not the powder granted to me by the Contract. I am a druid, I was long before the circus; I was a mystic. I can bridge the link between realms.”
“So what is your power then?” Daniel queried.
“Healing.” Yseult stated simply. She did not want to divulged further than that. It was no secret that Yseult had an interest in healing and alchemy (when she was not performing she would sell her lotions and potions and sometimes a snake oil or two), skills she had developed before the circus. The circus had just enhanced this power; Yseult could heal nearly any wound in minutes. Unfortunately, this was also her Conviction and it was this that she preferred to keep to herself, for any wound that Yseult healed, she did so by transferring the wound to her own body.
Clearly, Yseult did not want to linger on the matter, so Daniel moved the conversation on.
“Why did you join the Circus?”
“Why? Why did I join?” Yseult repeated the question back to Daniel, a sad smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. “To save my son.” “You have a son?” Daniel asked, one eyebrow arched.
“Yes. Well, had, I suppose.” Yseult let out a soft sigh, tears forming in her eyes as she sat on the bench next to the lion tamer. “I doubt a child born in 1635 would still be alive today.” Yseult forced a laugh, although there was no joy in the sound. Wiping at her eyes with the back of her hand, Yseult continued, “He caught a terrible sickness. I tried everything, every potion, every ritual, I spoke with every spirit who would come to me but… Each day he got a weaker.” Yseult paused, straightening her posture, and turning to look Daniel in the eyes. “I approached The Ringmaster; I heard he could bring wishes true in return for,” she gestured a hand at their surroundings, “this. I asked him to save Cathal. And he did. Although I never saw him again, he remained with his father in Ireland and I… Well.” Yseult smiled again and, although her voice was still laced with melancholy, it was clear to see that she felt her sacrifice, leaving her home and her family, had been the right thing. Even now, hundreds of years later, it was as clear as the night sky that Yseult loved her son dearly.
“But the contract,” Daniel began, as something crossed his mind, “it lasts seven years. Why did you not return to your family then?” “Cathal’s sickness was not the kind that you cure once and never see again. It was a sickness that lasted a life time; were I to break my contract, so the spell that prolonged his life too would have been broken.” Yseult’s words hung in the air between them, bittersweet. Finally, Daniel broke the silence,
“Tell me about yourself. You know, your history.” “I was born in Ireland. I was a druidic priestess; a woman of healing and faith. Druidism has mostly been replaced with Christianity by then, but we were still around, we still existed on the outskirts of civilization. I was married to a wonderful man, Aodh, who I cared for very deeply. He was a druid, if not a mystic, too.” Yseult paused, resting her chin on her hand, a look of fondness creeping across her features. “I love him, even still. Then we had Cathal, who I’ve already told you, got sick and then…” Yseult trailed off and spread her hands, “Here I am.”
Their Connections (Unbeknownst to Yseult, Daniel is her ancestor. More connections to be added later.)
Their Audition The tent was tucked away behind the main circus big top; it would have been easy to walk straight past it, had it not been a gaudy shade of green. A glass lantern hung outside, casting a hazy orange glow on a sign that read ‘Le Fantôme Rouge, healer of souls, communion of spirits’, while thin tendrils of grey-blue smoke twined their way from the entrance. The smoke smelt herbal and inviting.
The customer had to duck and push past heavy curtains to enter. The inside was dim; a single glowing orb hung from the centre, while tiny lights flickered around the walls like fireflies. The source of the smoke came from the many filigree baubles that hung from the ceiling of the tent, filing the small space with its evocative aroma. The floor was strewn with pillows and throws, all in shades of inky black or stormy grey, intricately embroidered with golden thread. On a pillow at the far end was seated a woman, robed in white silks, curled, red hair cascading down her shoulders. She looked at the customer and smiled, gesturing in a single, graceful movement for them to sit before her.
“I sense your aura. It is not shining as brightly as it should be, is it?” She asked softly, the vague trace of an accent clinging to her words. The customer shook their head, silently; the atmosphere inside the tent was tranquil, but it felt like if anyone other than the mystic spoke, it would shatter into a thousand shards. The mystic reached into a wooden box to her left and retrieved two crystals; one coloured black, the other clear.
“Onyx, to protect and absorb negative energy. Quartz, to focus energy and encourage balance.” The mystic pressed the crystals into the customer’s palms. “These crystals have been charged in a full moon, the most powerful of all moon phases. Feel their energy surrounding your aura,” as the mystic spoke, the onyx pulsed with a subtle heat, while the quartz produced a cool sensation.
“Now, close your eyes while I invoke the presence of your guardian angel, for they will aid the healing of your aura, they will see it brighten and lift the worries and fears from your shoulders.” The customer did as they were bid, as the mystic called out in a clear, strong voice. Her words were foreign to the stranger, but they sounded like Latin. There was a dip in the ambient temperature of the tent and a breeze was felt, winding its way around the walls, ruffling the customer’s hair and causing the burners above to brush against one another, creating a dull chiming noise. As the mystic’s voice grew, so did the wind, faster and faster, cooler and cooler until suddenly. It stopped, replaced with a quiet rustling of feathers. The customer felt a warm hand on their shoulder, causing them to jump and open their eyes, looking behind them; there was no one there. The mystic was still in her spot opposite, hands folded in her lap, a serene smile gracing her lips.
“Can you feel them?” The mystic asked; the customer nodded, while opening their mouth to speak, but the mystic hushed them, “shh. Relax. You are protected now. Just breathe.” The mystic mimed with her hands a deep inward breath and then a slow exhale; she repeated this several times, as the customer mimicked her. “Your aura is already much brighter.” The mystic spoke softly, her gazed focused just behind the customer. “They say that you should not doubt yourself so much. That you should trust your instincts; they will guide you, they won’t let you go wrong.” As the words left the mystics’ lips the feeling of contact left the customer’s shoulder, and the faint rustling of feathers sounded again. The mystic returned her gaze to the customer and, taking their hands in hers, brought the two of them slowly to their feet. The mystic carefully took the crystals from the customer as she led them to the entrance of the tent.
“How do you feel?” She asked, pushing aside the heavy curtains, allowing the cool, night air to wash over them both. The customer nodded.
“Relaxed. Calm.” They spoke with a crooked grin. The mystic smiled her gentle smile again.
“Good. And so it shall be. Your angel is watching over you.” The customer nodded again, a mumbled thank you, before turning and disappearing into the crowds. The mystic watched them retreat, silently, before slipping back inside her gaudy tent, letting smoky tendrils coil into the air.
