There was a body on the floor, two actually, but one of them wasn't really. It was hard to explain. Apparently there was such a thing as a clone-clone fruit. Who would have guessed? "Good times" Melany muttered as she moved the sacks she kept slung over each shoulder in an attempt to find something that would be at least close to comfortable as she hurried back to the pier. Honestly, she was going to be cutting it kind of close. Funny how time flew sometimes. Didn't matter if you were having fun or not. "Well" she said down to the real corpse and the one that was probably made out of whatever it was a soul was "Thanks for the plants." She gave a half-hearted salute before turning to hurry out the door.

"Damn it." She muttered as she stepped out and surveyed the inferno before her. "I understand those guys want to make a name for themselves, but big and buster isn't always the way to go." She massaged her temples and took a deep breath as she shook her head. "Pirates and bluster! Ugh! Why doesn't anyone secret consolidate power any more!?" Shaking her head she started running towards the pier.

It was easy to find her crew mates as the dragon fruit Jackal had eaten made him the next best thing to an actual flare. They were on the pier, standing in front of a boat. She assumed it was the one their captain had settled on. For some reason it looked familiar, but as hard as she tried she just couldn't put her finger on it.

"Hey!" She called stepping up to the other members of the sunny crew. "What I miss?" But she didn't need them to answer, not really. It wasn't hard to miss the chaos and swiftly approaching danger coming from the sea. "Oh!" She nodded. "Nevermind. I got it." She hefted the bags. "I'll take it we're not going to beat a strategic retreat?" Not that such a thing would be a good idea. Sometimes, it was wise to burned bridges and the best time to do it was when your pursuer was hot on your ass. "Well then, I'll be right back. I'm jug going to put these things on the ship. Don't want any of our medical supplies" or her personal items "getting smashed up in the frey"

"Good man." Melany whispered under her breath as she rushed away from the ship. By the time she made it into the town's proper there was chaos, confusion, explosions and what appeared to be non-discriminatory exploding. "Sigh" she sighed. Stopping to look around and hopefully see someone who looked like a local. "I hope our leader over there doesn't blow up anything important."

It took a bit of scanning but she found her man. The guy was huddled under a small tree, hands over his head, entire body quivering with nervous energy. "There we go." She grinned and was standing over the man in an instant. "YOu there!" She took out her blade and poked the top of the man's head, gently. She'd kill him in a heartbeat if he turned out to be a threat, but she wouldn't be able to sleep as easily if she went as far to maim him for a little bit of info. "Hello." She shouted, and poked hard enough to draw a trace of blood.

Whoever the man was, apparently he was on edge. Without a word his whole body lunged upwards like a coiled snake. His fist thrust out in any old direction. Neither hit her though. It was amazing kind of like watching someone unload barrels full of buck shot at close range and not hitting anything. Still, he wasn't any good to her so she cut him down, quickly, painlessly. There was enough time for the figure to spasm once from the shock but that was it.

"Oh God!" A woman screamed as she saw the man fall to the ground. "Oh god!"

"Shhh." Melany whispered as she turned and took a step to the figure.

"What do you want?" The woman wailed. MElanie smiled, and five minutes later she was standing in front of the town's drug store, kicking the door in and hurrying inside.

"What do you want?" The old man, hiding behind the counter pleaded.

Another smile. "Glad you asked."

By the time she was done filling up one of her sacks the old man was standing still, rubbing his hands nervously. "Is there anything else you want? I'll give you anything. Please just don't hurt me."

"well, since your offering." Melany said, hefting the bag of herbs, medicines, and some medical supplies that were definitely going to come in handy later. "Would you mind pointing me at whatever passes for the town's botanist."
@IraSorry. Hadn't had a chance to post earlier. Things were unexpectedly hectic today ^.^:

The red pirate's first instinct was to push her blade into the larger man's hand as he took hers in her own and put the sack of beli into it, but she forced her shoulders to relax and wrap her fingers around the sack. For a moment she blinked down at her hand to look at the gift. "Alright." She shrugged and put the coin purse into her pocket. "I can't force you, but I'm not going to risk letting myself get weak from hunger." She pushed off the railing to make her way to the town to find something to eat, but stopped and turned her attention to the first mate while he talked to her.

For a moment Melany just stared at the man before shrugging her shoulders. "Who knows. There's stories about everyone, and there's not a pirate out on the seas without at least a dozen people claiming their the most blood thirsty killers roaming the seas." She grinned. "You can't believe everything you hear, right?" She opened her mouth to continue but the call from the captain came in, explaining that they were broke and there was going to be a change of plans. Without a word she nodded when Xerxes lit the buildings. "Hmm." She exhaled more than spoke and turned towards the crew's tank. "Food would be great. I'd love to help you get some, but I"ve got some other things I need to do." She smiled at the man. "But if you get a chance, would you mind picking up any citrus fruit you could get those giant paws on? We don't want to become the scourge of the world, and die of scurvy, right?" She winked and without waiting for further instructions, heading towards the destination.
Melany Hunnir was leaning against the ship's railing, arms across her ample chest, and eyes focused intensely on the crew's leader as he gave his speech. A part of her was agitated that there was yet another obstacle in her way. There was always something slowing her down. She didn't give her complaints a voice though. There wouldn't be a point to it. Everything had a time and a place, but right now, when there was just a problem that couldn't be skipped over wasn't the right moment to complain. Sighing, she only shook her head, and watched quietly as Marxo left them with Xerxes.

A few moments passed while the man asked about beli and then the other crew member Jackal informed them that he wasn't going to eat. For a second she thought about ignoring the man's statement, but at the moment he was a member of the same crew as herself. So if he failed at some point then so would she. She couldn't fail now; wouldn't. @dragonmancer "MmmMmmm." She cleared her throat and looked in the larger man's direction. "Not to scold, as your an adult, but skipping a meal out at sea isn't the wisest course of action. The next meal isn't always guaranteed, and one never knows when there's going to be a need for strength, lots' of it. Best to keep that belly full so your arms and legs won't crap out on you at a bad moment" like when we're all pinned down and someone with tough skin could be used as a human shield.

Without waiting for his reply Melany turned her attention to the second in command. "Nope. I've got nothing on me at the moment, As for beli go." She paused for a moment and then a small smile appeared on her face. "To be honest I'm still a bit new to how things work around here. What exactly does Marxo mean he mentioned us not going crazy? Is that an order to keep our heads down as low as possible, or just don't go overboard?"
No back story
If you guys are still looking for a doctor then Melany could be it. Eh?
Seth woke up with a yawn. The sun was glaring down at him between the holes in his curtains like a mother who was furious he'd slept in so late. "What time is it?" He blinked and looked around. There were no answers. So he knew it was too late. "Ugh!" He yelled, jumping to his feet. "I'm late." In a flash he was dressed, thanks to some little helpers and out there door like a man whose house was on fire and there wasn't anything in the cheap place worth saving. "Okay. So dressed, that's step one." He looked around and took a right towards the bakery he was supposed to meet his co-guild master for discussions on expanding their guild.

There was a line when he got there. "Damn." He muttered hoping up and down.
Jynmi died. He was sure of at least that much. One moment he was sitting down, nice and comfortably, with his nose in a book and the family throne beneath his rear. He hadn't actually needed to go, but the house was always so full of noise before everyone left and he just needed some me time. So he locked the restroom door, and there it was, or at least there it should've been. He didn't even have time to remember to put his headphones in before the city bus came crashing through the wall on his right, and smashed him into the one on his left.

Next thing he knows, he's still seated on the toilet seat, but then his, or his body, is over there between the wall and front of the bus. Unsure of what else there was to do he crossed his arms, got to his feet and looked around. There was someone in the driver's seat. He could see the man through the window. His face was wide open, and his eyes were bulging so much they looked like they were about to jump out of his head. Both hands were on the wheel. So there was that.

"Hello." Jynmi said, jumping up and down at the side of the front of the bus, trying to get the man's attention, but the man wouldn't move. Upon closer inspection it appeared that the man wasn't breathing either. "Is he dead too?" The young man took a step back and put his hands on his hips.

"No." A voice from behind him said. Startled, Jynmi turned around and there was a black cloaked figure with a scythe in one hand, an hour glass in another, and a long rolled of piece of parchment in the third. Jynmi recounted just to make sure and he was relieved to find he could count up to three still. So it was true, there were some things death didn't change. "Just you." The recently dead opened his mouth to speak, but was cut off by an empty hand which waved him for silence. "There's no time for questions." The reaper said and before Jynmi knew it, there was a flash of light and he found himself in a black space, floating. "One second. I just have to get the other one." There was another flash and Jynmi was left alone in the darkness
