Martel is wearing a set of full plate armor with a helmet that fully covers his face. I doubt you'd be able to tell he's a vampire by looking at him alone. After the whole mist trick most likely, but not just by looking at him.
When the commotion happened Martel immediately used his vampiric ability to vanish in to whirling mist. He appeared in front of the Emperor with his sword drawn and back towards the man. "M'lord. I'd politely suggest your remain behind me for now. I'd rather not lose a patron to the whims of an assassin."
"With all due respect a general is someone who takes orders from higher up the proverbial food chain. A commander leads. I am a commander." Martel again paused like he was weighing his options. "I'll lend you a hand for now, but I warn all of you in advance. If this whole thing takes too long I have only two bottles of blood to keep the lust away." Thanjs to the helmet no one could see the man's annoyed expression, like he was expecting someone to start threathening him about drinking blood.
Martel saw many flaws in Kanaan's plans. The most glaring perhaps being thaf if a comtingent of what he assumed to be the best of tbe emperors guards had managed nothing how could this small group of adventurers that had never worked together fare any better? Remaining silent for a good while the tall man weighed his options. "No offense to you, or the men you have ready lost, but I can not stop myself from pointing out that you do have a djinn at your side. If her magics cannot be rid of the monsters or for instance just drown them... What chance do we have against them?"
If Martel was bemused by the Emperors secrecy he hid it well. With a little movement of his hand the armor clad man motioned for his entourage to leave their drinks and form up. "It would seem your imperial highness has quite a collection of people on his hands." The tall man smirked and rolled his eyes. "Now, shall we be on our way?"
"Well if it is not too urgent I could send word to the rest of the Raven Company, but I am assuming time is of the essence here." Martel shrugged his shoulders and shook his head slightly. "I am assuming there is no time for that. Perhaps we should be on our way then so you can tell us what this is all about." He shook his head slightly and placed the helmet on his head, while pulling the jaw down to reveal his face. "My apologies for covering myself like this, but the sunlight does me no favors."
Martel gritted his teeth, he was rather unaccustomed to not getting immediate answers to his questions. Still he chose to play along for now. "A quest, m'lord? I do enjoy some heroics every now and then." He made a quick bow before turning on his heels, walking back to his men, again politely asking them to stay out of trouble, picking up his helmet and returning to stand in front of the Emperor. "I am at least ready to hear what you offer, m'lord."
