As the ship was powering up to break atmo Iean gave a small prayer in Chinese to the grave thrusters. He sat on the stairs and held on to the rail calmly. He watched to ensure the bay door closed and the seal light came on. Iean went from the loading deck to the kitchen. Grabbing a cup of water he walked out to his room to the side of medical second level. closing the door behind him he took a few steps to water the Bonsai tree on the desk. he sat the cup down and took out a book to read. Things looked to be interesting with the new group. He would need new verses to inspire courage in the others.

As Iean read he tried not to focus on the vibrations of the hull or the fight between natural gravity and the artificial gravity. Space travel was better to the shepherd the thought of natural gravity and his Tai chi training taught Iean how forces could tear something apart. The academy training reaffirmed this with numbers. Most hull stress was created during the exit of a planets take off. Fireflies weren't exactly cutting edge of tech in the sky. They were easy to repair even if the mechanic was only half awake. It was the main reason they sold so well. Iean would check on the rest during chow.
"I think you are great really. I don't know many people but I like you more then the people I've dealt with so far. Eva you are a good person. I like talking to you. I like hanging out with you. You're not fake or trying impress anyone. You're just you." Vivian was smiling but looking down at her hands in her lap. "I'm going to hang out in the living room and watch some movie channels. It's still cold outside." Vivian walked to the living room and sat Indian style on the large sofa. She offered you the remote. As the night wore on she eventually went to bed.

The days past and the game systems you ordered with the large 60" flat screen came. As you unboxed them with Vivian Amanda came to tell you it was therapy time. She walked you to the the writing room where he was waiting with a calm expression. "Hello Eva it's nice to see you again. Thanks Amanda." He closed the door and took his seat. "So how has the time been for you the past couple of days?"
"Thanks." Shawn had the warm smile he left with. now a lot more relaxed and wearing the regular gear he normally wore in this new and hostile world. He took note that Olivia did the same. Grateful for the change out of the thin leggings. She had cleaned up, not that she needed to. "Anything I can help out with?" Shawn liked to be useful. "I would like to know your thoughts on the current situation and where we should go after the winter. I saw a boat on the way in from the ocean. I thing we should look at." Listening to Olivia and agreeing on her course of actions for the winter Shawn was impressed as to the thought behind her reasoning. Shawn had relaxed too munch, he was completely unarmed. He also left his bag and his new hand radio to stay in contact with Olivia. "I just realized I left all my stuff for going out on the boat. Before we get started on the day I would like to stop by and grab my gear."

Shawn walked back to the boat. He grabbed the bag inside he put a few granola bars and the thermos of tea. At his side he holstered the gun and a knife for his bag and side of his forearm. Letting the crowbar stick out of the top of the bag. Shawn was ready and walked side by side with Olivia down the dock. Looking at Olivia he noticed her smile despite the bad things she had endured at the hands of others. Whatever happened before, Olivia let him get close last night. The fact that Shawn had made her smile and start to trust a little gave him hope for her future. He would help Olivia trust and love again. He would save Olivia from the sadness of her past. Every kiss and hug would bring Olivia back from the edge. Building her trust further was going to take patience. Her smile would let Shawn know he was already on the right track. Finding a place where she would feel safe again was a priority. Shawn loved Olivia and she loved him. Shawn smiled at her as the headed into the city, together.
bump.
Jason:

"I realize most people don't like being told what they already know. I just thought that it would be nice to hear regardless." Jason smiled back. "Since you are in my care I would like know what you think of the situation you find your self. You don't seem like the tie up and tickle you with a feather type."
Shawn woke and trying to stand he smiled holding onto Olivia. He kissed her lips in a friendly way. Shawn laughed. "I think my legs are asleep." After asking for help with a hand from Olivia Shawn sat up pressing his lips together while the blood made its way easier to his toes. "I guess we missed the rise. I think it would be best if we went out together the sun looks a bit warmer and might thaw out some of them walkers. We could gather fuel for a bigger boat and get to transferring our supplies during the night and gather during the day. As soon as my legs get the message I can get some tea over my place. Black tea? I would like to talk today about things. I want to get your way of doing things and what your thoughts. Look at me yammerin on and you standing there all pretty and sweet." He took a deep breath and put a hand on his thigh. Rubbing his hand against the denim. "Sorry. I got into survival thinking while you..." Shawn stands up using the wall for a moment then standing on his two feet. "I'm going to get some tea. Then we can talk like people use to if you like." He smiles at you. Placing a hand on your shoulder in a comforting way."

Shawn walked out and went to his boat. He started up the boat engine and took a long shower. He then got dressed in his survival clothes and made some tea with the coffee water and made sure the battery had a good charge. Letting go of some of last night steam Shawn came out of the boat with his motorcycle jacket in case Olivia had thoughts on going out later in the day. Filling a coffee thermos with the black tea Shawn walked back over to Olivia's boat and knocked waiting for a reply. The last thing Shawn wanted to see was any skin that might force him to taker a long shower. Olivia was warm even through a sweater. Those leggings were so form fitting. He stopped his mind from wandering by biting the inside of his cheek. The cold wind helped too.
Nothing in most of the lab. It was either stolen or destroyed. A more thorough search then the first time turned up an fallen a locker with a pair of gym shoes and old socks. Taped to the underneath of the top shelf was a scarp of paper, "Genisis-7:16" Behind the paper was a key card. A pair of broken glasses lay on the top shelf. A scanner was found for sub dermal tissue. The memory returns of your work station sub deck nine. Geological scanner and samples you recall searching them for the missing unknown variable from the dirt and docks on the moon.

More memories of you and Jason flood your mind. Some trips were professional, some were professional with a pleasure ride back. The science also comes back. The grid by grid searches of the moon. The failed searches, re calibrating of sensors and equipment. The search for, ....isotope 34. Isotope 34 was the the catalyst you were certain of that would bring the change, dramatic change, but for proof you would need a large sample it couldn't be synthesized. The small traces you found brought more flashes of you conducting tests on the rats. The only successful test was introducing it by inhalation. Successful by surviving the procedure The autopsy and the results were remarkably the creature had started to change biologically under each side and in every way the body became more efficient the cells lived longer and the brain folds were in a stage of doubling. The change was only permanent via the next generation. The tissues broke down and the development cause the life expectancy to half. You couldn't prove that theory without further testing and a larger dose for a larger mammal. You needed more test subjects.
Jason:

"I would like that. I was wrong about you. I find there's more to you then just a pretty face connected to some soft curves."
You and Vivian sat at dinner. You both watched as Amanda came got a plate, smiled, and left. The dinner was the nicest ones you had in a long time the cook came out with dessert. Some sort of chocolate fondue with whip cream and white chocolate shavings. It was served chilled and melted perfectly in your mouth.

"I always wanted to drive a sports car. Fast and small, going around turns and corners barely keeping it to the road. I know a lot of muscle cars Aston martin, Lamborghini, corvette, BMW 328 Hommage, Audi RSQ, Saleen S7, Koenigsegg CCR I wanted anything fast that could get me away from the family I was adopted by." Vivian's eyes got a little watery. "Now that they're gone I don't feel bad. I feel empty." She wipes her eyes. "I'm glad to have you. But I still feel empty. What do we do now?"
On the monitor in front of you came a message from terminal number forty three. (Where ever that was.) "The AI can only be reinitialized from the command deck by the medical officer's override code. .....good luck. Session terminated....
