Bio

Hi. I'm Matt. You could say I'm a Case of Identity...

1. The Important Stuff: Faith and salvation

I am a Christian. I believe the KJV Bible and that God is real, Jesus died for me, Jesus rose again and offered salvation to the world. Heaven is real, Hell is hot and the only escape is Christ. I accepted salvation the only way you can: by admitting I was a sinner (and I still am), believing that Jesus died for me and rose again, and calling on Him to save me. Anyone can do it anytime and be granted eternal life.

"Matt, why are you saying all of this?" you ask.

Because last time I was here, I did a crap job of establishing that and just tried to 'fit in.' I'm going to add a little more of this to my characters and to my signature, because it's the right thing to do and because there's freedom on these kinds of sites. Not to an extent that interrupts/derails the story, though. Your game, your rules.

2. The Actual Bio:

Hi guys. I'm Matthias Emmanuel Angel, I'm 24, and this is where I spend time when I'm not doing other things (church, homework, studying, video games).

///
What I like:
-Landscape Management (my major)
-Guitar (over a decade of experience and not much to show for it)
-PC Games (gave up on Xbox, no regrets)
-RPGs (I play them too often though)
-Water instead of soda (oooo look at how healthy I am)
-Google SketchUp (awesome 3D models, free download)
-The number 23 (it's the best number)
///
What I don't like:
-Profanity (especially when it's just filler in comedy)
-Lewd content and porn (and anyone bragging about it)
-Gory movies (how are they going to get butchered this time?)
-Jerks (you aren't a jerk, are you?)
-Insects (kill them all)
-Dying in video games (and forgetting to save)
///

I realize, of course, that this site doesn't have limits on profanity of lewd content. No worries. I'll work around it, and won't join up with RPs rated 18+. If you feel like it will be a problem, let me know BEFORE the RP starts.

3. Other Internet Presence:

You can find me in a couple other places.

...and Comments here, of course.

See you in another world.

Here be a rough outline of my CS.

Name: Lady Amethyst "Amie" Jane, baroness of the Jane Household
Species: Human
Age: 30
Gender: Female
Personality: Amie has two personalities: Lady Jane and Amie.

Lady Amethyst Jane is a stern, quiet, respectable woman of noble lineage. At 6'1", she is an imposing figure, towering over others both in rank and height. Lady Jane is in all aspects a gentlewoman. She dresses the part, bows to elders, and is receptive to the honor due her. She is the unofficial representative of her house and, accompanied by her assistant/servant, she spends time visiting exotic (and often expensive) locales, spreading the glory of her family everywhere. Fighting is unladylike, and she would never draw her sword unless absolutely necessary.

At heart, Amie is a kind, compassionate young woman who loves to read and write. She enjoys spending time with others, regardless of their place in society. Despite her family's love of affection and praise, Amie doesn't see herself as any more special than anyone else. She's optimistic and tries to find something to be happy about regardless of the circumstances. She doesn't have a wild streak or hot temper, but she has no objections to drawing steel. Fighting relieves boredom and causes adrenaline, and she would draw her sword in a heartbeat if it meant a good fight, or any kind of fight.

Appearance:

Her family crest is emblazoned in gold leaf on the back of her coat.

Powers: JANE. Amie has her family crest emblazoned in gold on the back of her glove that is activated mentally. It allows her to cycle through four abilities that last for 30 seconds. These abilities can be changed/swapped instantly, but the same one cannot be immediately used back to back. The Crest glows gold and the "J" in the crest changes to a symbol representing the ability while it is active. When holding the sword, the blade glows gold as well and adopts those properties, though it isn't necessary for the buffs. The abilities are Jump, Attack, Negate, and Evade.

Jump: Increases jump height dramatically.
Attack: Increases the size of her sword's blade and the amount of damage it can do.
Negate: Creates a holographic shield in front of her that absorbs projectiles.
Evade: Increases movement speed and reaction time.

Strengths: Intelligence and charisma. Masterful skill with a longsword.

Weaknesses: Pure physical strength and stamina. Also, she was raised in a mansion and attended to by servants, so even though she doesn't much care for her lifestyle, she doesn't understand the "outside world." It's always been fancy people with fancy vocabularies living carefree lives. Loneliness, depression, poverty and the like are all foreign to her.

Background: tl;dr she was born into a rich family and everything has been perfect her whole life, but her family is very rich and snobby and Amie doesn't think she's better than anyone else, so they don't see eye-to-eye on how to look and behave. In public Amie will act the part out of respect for her parents and lineage. She caries a sword because her parents insist she have a bodyguard, and Amie would rather not, so after a lot of bickering she finally convinced them to let her take up private fencing lessons, which escalated into using claymores, sabers, and two-edged longswords. She ended up preferring the longsword and has been using it exclusively for the past eleven years.

That's enough for now.

Misc. Notes: N/A
@Tergonaut I'm going with the idea that the family wants to have a presence there just for the sake of gaining attention. And it's not so much a rebellious child as an indifferent child, who just doesn't take nobility seriously.

I'm probably going to hand draw my character and wardrobe. The powers are undecided, but I'm leaning towards something to do with a symbol/crest.
I have an idea for a character of nobility, unwillingly sent to the lodge to represent their family name. The character in question being someone who is of noble blood but doesn't really enjoy it. Trying to hit the mark between "prissy, stuck-up rich kid" and "rebellious, sassy jerk" with a more positive spin, i.e. "I don't enjoy this lifestyle but I'll make the best of it."
Ok so you're losing me a bit. If the idea is for everyone to survival, with dead characters being replaced by new ones, you have a never-ending group survival RP. If you have a secret antagonist, you have a game with an end goal (uproot/eliminate the antagonist). Having a secret antagonist sounds great, but it's no fun if it's permanently one single person. If they die, does it go back to being a group survival RP? And what is the significance of killing people if they just come back over and over?

Suggestion: The group as a whole initially thinks everyone is good, but slowly realizes there's a bad one. They collaborate to figure out who it likely is. The group can make a majority vote to kill a player they suspect. Mix in a lot of arguing and tough choices and moral decisions, and ultimately someone dies. It doesn't have to be a "once per day everyone votes" thing. If they killed a normal character, that player rejoins as a new person and the antagonist continues to be the antagonist. If they kill the antagonist, the player rejoins as a new person and you choose another player to "go bad" and becomes the new antagonist.

A group survival RP with a game element sounds great, but a game needs rules and a way to win. A goal. Something everyone can be trying to accomplish while RPing. Otherwise, people just play until they run out of things to do with their character and leave the RP.
Interested, though I'm hoping you refine the subject material. It feels a little TOO broad at the moment.
@OfWindAndRain We may have to disregard the comics, since any new comic can and will conflict this RP. The cinematic movies could be a good foundation, but they could conflict as well later on.

@Solo What's the end goal? If I join, I'm going with McCree.
@MatthiasAngel

Here's an idea:

The characters we play as are actually the in-game avatars of the players actually playing the game, or something along those lines. The game is in open beta, so a bunch of players sign up, create characters, and jump in.

As for the end goal, how about something along the lines of the game itself being revealed as malware created by the game's developer, and the players' goal is to find the main core of the program through some sort of debugging or something similar, like a glitch, and destroy it? It's a bit more complex so it might not be what you're looking for, but I'd at least give it some consideration.

I would rather have real people playing to skip the whole "The year is 2900 and we have computer pod things that send people into VR and it's definitely not Sword Art Online or anything." But then again I would have a lot more freedom with a virtual world in regard. And I can limit the physical abilities of people.

Would it be better for people to know they're in a video game? Or for people to show up and not know it? The less I have to talk about HOW they got there, the better, and I'm not going to have a very diverse group of people if they're all gamers.
@GarlandDaHero I had considered the "video game" element of it, since video games handle the movement of players easily through joining, quitting, and respawning. Making it a video game would allow for a lot more freedom in regard to the environment and set pieces, but then I need an explanation for people appearing there in the first place.

Kidnapping: Hard to explain how they got here, easy to explain why, and easy universal end goal (escape).
Voluntary: Everyone makes up their own reason for how and why, but then there would be character development IC to reflect on it, and it'd be hard to explain why they left. And there's no real universal end goal, except maybe a fat sack of cash.

EDIT: Also I will need halp pls making up rooms, if rooms are used.
@GarlandDaHero This is the interest check, so brainstorm here.
Real talk: We all love a good RP, but we're busy people, and too many good stories die out from people being unavailable, with no easy way to quit or join. It's frustrating, but it happens.

I'd like to create a casual RP that is easy to join, regardless of how many pages it has, and easy to leave, or at least be put on Hold. The story can't go too far in-depth, because it'll be difficult for new, interested people to participate, but I don't want some kind of sandbox with no end goal. Character sheets will be minimal but still require effort. Posts will stick to a two-paragraph minimum, with the minimum number of posts being once per week. There will be more emphasis on actions and thinking than character development and relationship forming.

Right now, I'm thinking of a building with a series of rooms. Each room has some kind of puzzle to get to the next. Participants are kidnapped or teleported in to work together to solve them. Some could be "get to the other side of the room," some could be "find a way to unlock the door." New people can hop in whenever to contribute. Leavers can be killed or just put in stasis or something. I'll be sure to, as the GM, describe rooms, give hints, or kill off players who don't want to participate. Heh heh heh.

I'd like for this to be light-hearted and fun rather than gritty and gory. One room at a time. Work together or solo. Examine the room carefully. Escape...if that's even possible...

Any and all ideas welcome! The only requirement is that players can easily join, leave, and maybe even rejoin.
