"Hang on Irene, I'm gonna reorganize my supplies and repair my gear. I'll meet up with you in the media center when I'm done." You walk past the chemistry room intent on meeting back up with Kate and storing your loot, but you find Philip in the stairwell. A lone zombie appeared to be approaching him from the tenth grade hallway.

"Sup Philip! Glad to see you're still alive. Are you able to deal with that zombie, or do you want me to...?" You ask curiously, wondering if Philip had any weapons on him.
[Irene]

“...And Matt. I’m guessing you two never really got to know each other in what, the three years you’ve been in the same school?”

[Alicia]

“Ah Matt. It’s hard to know everyone in my grade. I think I’ve seen you around.” She holds out her hand for him to shake.

[Matt]

"Ah, hello." You wipe your blood covered hand on your pants before holding it out to shake.

[Travis]

You see that Matt and Alicia are basically meeting for the first time so you turn and watch the hall for any movement.
Glad some people can relax a little with a zombie horde about.
You decide that there might be some useful stuff in the chem lab to scavenge and slip in past the others and start to cautiously look around for anything that might be useful.

[Irene]

“Yup, I only got to know him fairly recently as well. Even though I saw him in the morning a lot when I was running to school. And that apparently he’s lived within a minute or two walking distance from me for six whole years. Yuuuup.”

[Matt]

You shrug.

[Alicia]

Alicia got up while Matt and Irene were talking and noticed Travis wandering around the room. She slipped on her bag. “So, any tips? Since I just woke up and stuff. And are you sure I shouldn’t get any chemicals? I mean, we’re in the chem room.”

[Irene]

“I think it’s more important for you to get some sort of protection, same with you, Trav--where did he go?” Irene looks around, and spies him in the chemistry room, sifting around, “But chemicals could be good too.”

[Matt]

“I have no idea how to create a bomb with chemicals. If you guys know how, then great.” You rummage around the room looking for the Bunsen burner lighter thingies, since you figure they'll last you longer than matches. You eventually find a drawerful and pocket two.

[Travis]

You find some of what you think might be useful chemicals and other assorted items.
I’ll have to ask what chemical are with cause they all see to be clear liquids for the most part...
You carefully put them on a counter next to you and look toward the group to make sure they didn’t head back without you and see that Irene looking over in your direction.
You shrug. “Never know what might be useful.”

[Irene]

“Oh, I wasn’t judging you. Did you find anything though?”

[Travis]

“Found some chemicals, no sure what any of them are, but we might be able to make some kind of grenade thing with acid in case of an emergency or something, but we would have to be careful with what we put in them and when we would use them.”
You sort through the non chemicals and find some scissors and tweezers.
Might be able to create a throwing knife, wouldn’t really be any good, but it would be something...

[Alicia]

She follows Irene and Travis while they were talking. “You think we should find matches or lighters? I mean, since the power is out, doesn’t it kinda get cold at night?” She scanned the closet that Travis had opened. Darn nothing with the label on sodium yet.

[Irene]

“Yeah, those would be dangerous,” turning towards Alicia, Irene responds, “It’s practically summer so it’s not really all that bad. But matches and lighters would be useful regardless.”

[Alicia]

She gives a wry smile to Irene. “Okay maybe it’s just me that gets cold. Or just me getting over the chills.” She opens a drawer. “Here. I put these here at the end of last year at the end of our chem lab.” She hands the matches to Irene.

[Travis]

You look up from the scissors.
“We would be able to cook some meat and boil water with fire, wouldn’t be a bad idea to use them, but again it would have to be sparingly until we find more stuff.”
Your mind turns back to the path toward Giant.
Yea, and if we can get to Giant, it wouldn’t be much of a stretch to get to my place and get my dad’s knife collection and arm up a little better than homemade weapons.

[Irene]

Irene gives the matches a look, she had never used one before. After all, she had grown up learning to never touch them--in case she managed to set the house ablaze or something. She then holds them out for Matt to take and remarks, “You could probably put these to use better than me.”

[Matt]

“Thanks,” Matt hears heavy footsteps heading their way, accompanied with screams. He runs towards the source of the sound.

[Irene]

Irene notices Matt run off and glances back at Travis and Alicia and says, “Matt and I can go help the person, you two should keep working with the chemicals and such.” Irene rushes in pursuit of Matt. I would have had to do a lot of explaining if they saw what I was going to do next. This is only for the best.
[Matt]

Hearing rapid, even footsteps coming from the right, Matt turns to see Travis approaching.

"Hey." You nod nonchalantly. "What's up? I'm guessing you heard the scream too."
Alicia whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Y U DO DIS

why the double post though?

The bottom floor of MST was a mess. What looked like at least a dozen zombies were milling around down there, coming from the left. You could also smell electricity and smoke wafting from that direction. This must have been close to where the explosion occurred. It knocked out the power, and also allowed the zombies to enter. You stab your spear into the stomach of the recently killed zombie and draw your two knives. With that many zombies, you'd lack the room to swing your spear effectively. With a slight bit of trepidation, you clang your knife on the banister, drawing the attention of the zombies below. Hopefully no zombies come from above. If they did, you'd be trapped on the stairs, a rather grim prospect. Still, you had confidence in your handiwork and strength. You shouldn't have anything to fear as long as you deal with the zombies swiftly and methodically.

Three zombies start up the staircase, one of them tripping as it mounts the steps. Two more follow behind, but are impeded by the fallen and now flailing zombie. You plant your foot on the closest zombie's sternum and push, but it leans back against the zombie behind it and stops. Their figures revealed by the better lighting on the staircase, Matt realizes that these zombies were mostly adults, not students. You plunge the knife downwards and through the skull of the zombie under your foot before kicking backwards. The corpse is pushed aside by the zombie below and you prepare yourself for the next threat. Lunging, you thrust your blade forward and into the zombie's eye socket. The blade catches and you lose your grip on the hilt as the body falls to the side. Two more zombies traipse up the stairs and approach you at once. Swapping your remaining knife to your right hand, you grab the leftmost zombie around the throat and use it to balance yourself on one leg as you kick away the second zombie. You're hit by some wild swings, but your armor shrugs off the blows, allowing you to drive your knife into the zombie's temple. You repeat the process with the second zombie as it gets up, then push away its corpse with as much force as you can muster. The cadaver entangles the next few zombies long enough for you to retrieve your knife and gain some distance. I shouldn't have done this on my own afterall.

Five more zombies fall to a frenzy of slashes before you stumble back up the stairs, gasping for breath, covered in blood that wasn't your own.
Yes. And it was just as spontaneously revived.

"I'm going out for a bit, don't worry about me." Matt says to Kate as he opens the door to the closet and steps out, makeshift spear in hand. The weapon, three yardsticks taped together with a kitchen knife affixed to the end, had held up surprisingly well throughout the fighting. Although it was stained with blood, the weapon still felt solid.

The hallway was clear of moving dead for the moment. He thought he might have heard movement coming from the left wing of the MST area, but it was hard to hear over the rustling of the apparently many undead shifting below. Might as well quiet them down... Matt carefully descends the stairs. Despite the dim lighting, he could make out two zombies milling around on the landing. He taps his foot to draw them a bit closer before jumping down and to the left of the pair, spearing one zombie through the head as he passes and driving it to the tile floor. The moment he lands, Matt draws a knife and spins, plunging the blade through the underside of the second zombie's chin. He yanks the blade free and stabs it between the eyes once more for good measure.

((wow been a while since I posted))
((Oops. I slipped into 3rd person.))
[Matt & Kate]

Matt gently shakes Kate awake. "C'mon sleepy, it's 10 o'clock." He says with a nudge.

"Uuuuuuugh nuuuu...." Kate squirms in her seat before grimacing. "Augh my back... wait, 10?! Why didn't you wake me up sooner?!" She exclaims.

"So you could sleep haha. I'm used to little sleep, it's fine." Matt hands Kate a bottle of water and a granola bar. "Enjoy." He says jokingly, unwrapping the bar and biting into it, then washing it down with a swig of water. He actually liked granola bars, so this wasn't too bad. Kate does the same.

"Ready to move out now?" He asks her.

"Give me a moment to stretch first, that chair is terrible to sleep in." She replies, stretching. Once ready, they open the door and re enter the kitchen, which was just as they'd left it. Matt points out that they need to at least ration food, and it'll only become more and more likely that people will fight over what food is remaining, forgoing rationing at all., so to prevent that he wants to hide the cart of food somewhere else in the school. Kate reluctantly agrees so they set off for a janitors closet, Kate pushing the cart with Matt as vanguard.

Come morning, plenty of zombies had filled the halls again, apparently pouring in from the MST wing or humanities wing. Five zombies awaited in the area in front of Guidance, while three more were standing in a cluster by the water fountains. "What are you waiting for?" Kate asks with a grin as she charges in, spearing one zombie through the head with ease. Not one to be shown up, Matt kills two with a lunging stab followed by a downward chop through the skull. Kate slices the back of the neck of a zombie that had turned toward Matt. As it falls, Matt kicks the body backwards, knocking down another zombie, which he kills as it gets up. Kate stabs an oncoming zombie through the throat, but it doesn't die, snarling helplessly as it waved its arms at Kate. Matt slams his blade into the side of it's head, finishing it. The preoccupied zombies near the water fountain turn and begin shambling towards the two. Matt kills the three on his own, cleaving a zombie's skull open one at a time, backing away slowly to give him time to pull his blade free.

The wheels of the cart squeak rhythmically, drawing two more zombies from a dark corner as Matt and Kate pass the vending machine. They needed access to the janitor's closet, and Matt's arms weren't tired yet. He thrusts his spear forward to pierce the first through the eye, then raises the blade high above his head and let it fall forward almost on it's own, allowing gravity to do the work. The area was clear for now, but the closet was situated in an unfortunately exposed position by the stairs and between 4 hallways. "We'll have to clear the entire area around us if we want to do this safely." Matt mutters. Leaving the cart by the door, Matt takes the left hallway of MST while Kate takes the right hallway. They double back once they reach the end, Matt encountering and killing one more zombie and Kate two. They both heard curious pounding from the other side of classroom doors as they traversed the hallway, but they avoided looking in. What did they have to share that they didn't already know?

The lanyard held quite a few keys, and Matt couldn't remember which one would open the closet, if any of them would. Kate watches his back with a sigh, spear held at the ready to fend off the hungry dead. From behind him he hears Kate grunt in exertion. "What's taking so long?" Kate asks impatiently, wiping her spearblade on a fallen corpse. "I can't seem to get the right-ahh there we go." Matt exhales triumphantly, swinging the door open. As he pulls the door back, he momentarily panics, realizing that if there was a zombie inside the closet he would be dead.

Thankfully the closet was empty. Matt and Kate push the cart into the closet and cover it in a clean enough dirty white canvas tarp thing. After making sure the cart looked perfectly nondescript, they leave and relock the door, then hurry back to the cafeteria to rest and rehydrate.
[Matt]

Kate wakes him up. He sits up with a groan. "Oh god my back.... what time is it?" He asks blearily. "It's 3 in the morning, a little longer than four hours, since you looked like you needed the sleep." Kate replies, stifling a yawn. "Now move over, it's my turn..."

Matt obliges with another groan, heaving his stiff back up and out of the chair. He leans against a wall, stretching the kinks out of his body. "Goodnight." He says with a wave. Kate doesn't see it; her eyes are already closed.

Matt slowly slides down the wall to the floor. Well this is boring...
[Matt]

You and Travis head down past the drama room and turn right at the 9th grade hallway. THe both of you start down the hallway before remembering there is a mess of bodies blocking the hall that the cart would have trouble getting through. With a sigh you stop and turn around, explaining the situation and reason why a detour is necessary. Going down toward the 10th grade hallway now you stop to kill two zombies that had seemingly wandered there, possibly from up the stairs. You dispatch both with swift, brutal stabs to the head. All threats removed, you open the media center door and hold it open so Travis can bring the valuable supplies to safety. Once he is past you follow in after him.
