☆ Helena ☆
Helena had heard the sound of footsteps approaching, but she'd not bothered looking up at them. It could be anyone, and since she didn't really know too many people, she doubted that it was someone who would want to talk with her. So she went on reading, subconsciously ignoring the sound of someone or something climbing the tree she sat under. Might be a stray cat for all she knew.
And then there was a leaf on her page. The green a sharp contrast to the off white of the pages below it. She looked at it with something like surprise before she reached a hand up to brush it away. It was to be expected when sitting under a tree that leaves would fall down on you. She was just happy it wasn't any of the juicy looking berries that she'd glimpsed before flopping down.
Splat
“Ugh!”
“Shit,” came the signal hiss of a curse when she realized what had happened. She had spoken too soon as it were. She could feel the juice running down through her red hair that she'd thought would be a fine time to wear down. She supposed that was better than getting all over her shirt, though. Her hair at least was easier to wash. Shifting, she turned to look up at the reason she was now sporting more than one color in her hair.
“Hey,” she called up, looking into the face of a young woman. She hardly looked older than her, but there was something different about her, that was certain. “You might wanna be cautious when sitting in a tree full of berries when there's someone else under it.” She reached up to pull the mess of mulberry out of her hair after closing her book. Her tone was flustered, but she didn't look angry or anything like that. Just annoyed at the sticky mess of her hair.
