@ManoftheNorth Nope, as long as there's no godmod or mary/gary sues, I'm good with all type of characters. :)
@ManoftheNorth that this is set in a victorian/steampunk setting, and that I enjoy flawed characters?
@ManoftheNorth Of course!
Mayflower, at your service! Today I bring you a little something greatly influenced by the browser game Fallen London and a little less changed by whatever I can recall from the Bioshock franchise. Now, don't panic, knowing either of these is not necessary to play what I'm about to propose, and is only a way for me to admit potential nods I may do to these games.

The following will be centered around the character you makes along with your fellow roleplayers' creations. The more effort you put in your IC posts and the more interest you show in your OOC inquiries, the more you'll get out of this whole shebang. No word counts, no discrimination for slower posters, just an opportunity to get as much as you put in. That said; I don't have all day to GM, so I'd appreciate not having something like two hundred posts to go over everyday so please take your time, okay? Good!

Now, for the idea itself! You'll be put into a sandbox with Lovecraftian and Victorian flavors, with free reign to explore as you wish knowing that while your character will be unable to die, you will put them in danger and will most likely frequently be faced with a 'respawn' of your character in a safe place with little to no recollection of what happened except that it was bad. As such, explore and learn, but don't be surprised if you get limited feedback from risky actions (and possibly some strange marks to remember to not do that again you crazy maniac) due to the fragility of the human mind.

For any further questions or suggestions or even demands, feel free to post what's on your mind below!

And thus it began...

To be fair you remember little of what brought you here.

You think it all started in a moment of weakness from your part, as your heart was broken and your mind idled on fanciful wishes and what could have been. Surely you would have thought it over more thoroughly should have you been in the right frame of mind? Ah... perhaps it was meant to be, and you would have been dragged here one way or another.

No, no, why you were here was clear to you; You had lost, and wanted your happiness back no matter the cost. You should get your bearing, and concentrate on your goal. Yes, didn't the letter you foolishly opened that day say as much? You were in unknown territory, and you had only yourself to depend on - or to blame for that matter!

Yes, the letter...

Rummaging through their clothes, the lost one found what they sought; a thin envelope with a broken seal containing a yellowed sheet of fine vellum upon which was written in a neat hand, the redness of the script reminding one of blood:

Dear friend,

You have lost, and you shall be given the chance to take back what was once yours. We have ways to make your wish come true, and desire only your company for the duration of your quest to find what was once precious. Do not worry about payment, and be present at the following address no later than midnight.

Deepest regards,
Those below.

Attached to the simple letter had been the directions to an old manor house by the countryside. It had been well kept if dimly lit, and you had been too grieved and desperate to notice that something was off about the place. You don't remember what it was, but you got the same sense of dread by crossing the elegant threshold than you did when awakening in this place.

Where are you?

I hope this little snippet of what is to come whet your interest, and will now go into a little more details about what to expect from this rp.

In this rp, you'll be aiming to find a way to grant you 'Wish', that is the goal your character had when they received their letter, as well as to find a way out of the extremely tricky and dangerous underground trap that is called Pandora's Labyrinth. Depending on your character, that will mean to either form alliance with other character and NPCs, go about betraying others without getting caught, go about a very long and maddening quest to understand what to avoid and what to seek out on your own or a mix of two or all three of these things. Of course, this is meant to be at least mildly humorous, so nothing gruesome will happen on screen from your actions and while I encourage you to interact with other characters as much as possible you'll be free to go about your adventure as you wish.

For the mechanics, I'll keep things fairly simple, with the rp being cut down into rounds each spanning a real life week. At the end of each round, your character will take the time to think back on what happened to their potentially spotty memory and write down what they remember in a journal entry. That time will happen every Sunday morning/afternoon, when each player will be able to ask three questions about things kept vague in the last round. Example being: "What was in the box?" to which I would answer by "You remember yellow eyes, a growl and a strong need to close the box. You were about to do just that when the thing in the box lunged after you, and the last you saw of it was a black shape speeding off into the rooftops." Some answer may be silly, but other will give hints or even some lore about the setting.

I'll impose a limit of one character per player, and hope to have a drama-free OOC thread should this take off.
Certainly, I'm willing to do a more in depth look into any of the worlds! I'll get to work then.
Hello everyone, I'm Mayflower! I've been roleplaying and writing stories on and off for nearly ten years now, and would like to present to you some ideas I have for some sandbox worlds I would like to GM.

Each world will be the backdrop for both character arcs and world events, and each of them will have a timeline that will make it possible to go through action at a more sensible pace that would be possible if each day would mean one day in the rp or in the case that the time gauge would be existent. Of course, more action packed rps will have a faster real time/rp time ratio than a slice of life adventure, but each will be as exciting as I can make it given their playerbase.

That brings me to my second point; while I accept anything from a small paragraph to a small novel per post, the idea is that the more you give to the rp, the more you get from the GM. As such, while I won't be discriminating by writing skills, I will be rewarding those who goes above and beyond what is necessary to develop their character and enrich the world with extra goodies and plot opportunities. I repeat, you don't need to be a great writer, merely asking about things in OOC and taking the time to develop your character and given plotlines to the best of your ability will get you in my good graces.

That said, I do admit that I will only have a limited amount of time per day to advance the chosen world, and as such would prefer slower posts. Please take your time with your posts, we'll all be the better for it!

Alright, so now that the boring but necessary part is said, I'll tell you more about the worlds I have in stock. I invite you to give as much feedback and ask as many questions as you want! Should any world gain enough interest, I'll do a specific interest check with more details about it along with what to expect from it in the Casual section.

1. Fantasy, Adventure (Radiata Stories-inspired)
You've just reached adulthood, and it is with hope of a bright future that you set off to the imperial city of Verancia to seek fame and fortune... and adventure! Of limited skills and social acquaintances, you'll have to work hard to gain entrance into one of the guilds protecting the city. In fact, should you have your eyes set on nobility, you'll have to train even harder to gain entrance into the castle, where knights and blue bloods gather. Your journey is as you will make it, but do beware that in this world no action is without consequence; the horde of evil spirits found outside the walls of civilization grow stronger along with humanity's triumphs, and gaining strength and renown will no doubt make you a target to monsters and rivals alike! (The greater your flame, the more perilous your battle.)

2. Western, Horror (Persona-inspired)
Blood has been spilled endlessly for years now, and the ancient grounds of the New World grow red and twisted under the accumulated grudge of the slain and the defeated. That you are a native of this wilderness or a conquering colonist coming from more civilized lands matters not, for in the end nightmares will take shape, and it is only with the power of bonds and the stregth of your own heart that you may see another night in the local saloon of Judetown. (Keep your friends close, for your enemies are already inside you.)

3. Lovecraftian, Exploration/Action (Fallen London/Bioshock-inspired)
What are you doing here? This is no place for humans, you know? Oh, so you come seeking something precious enough to dare search through the abyss in order to obtain your heart's desire? Be our guest, but we would urge you to watch your step for you may not like what you will discover and... madness is so sweet under our tongue! Hell is splendid this time of the year indeed, but there are trickier places to be still, should you be foolish enough to seek them. No matter, your soul will make a wonderful snack to us one way or another. (Inject souls into your veins or graft the flesh of the unnamed into your being, and become more... or maybe less? What's the matter when you get strong enough to get what you want, anyways?)

4. Romance, Drama (Long Live The Queen-inspired)
You are a new face, fresh from the countryside. Will your entry into the refined world of the elite be your triumph or your disgrace? Lovers use their words like poison here, and a simple misstep may be enough to send you packing back to where you come from... that is if you're not exiled or worse in the process! Love is hard to find in these parts, yet it is that same danger to your heart that will make it bold enough to thrive at court. (Love me, love me not, all that matters is that you remember me!)

Oops, let's start again, shall we?

Mayflower here!

Nearing the second half of my twenties, longtime roleplayer, and aficionado of the written word. I'm originally a french speaker, but have been writing, reading and listening to the language of Shakespeare for over a decade now, so I feel pretty confident in my linguistic skills. I've tons of ideas for roleplays, and hope to find some willing souls to try them out with me down these parts.

I'm a chatty sort, so feel free to say hi or suggest we partner up or that I join your rp, or anything of the sort!
@DegenerateThree I'm pretty cool with anything wanging from a few times a day to once a week, so you probably won't have to sweat it. :)
