Of course, the OP has already encountered one of those. Though the show has moved several of them, such as the Red Wedding and the Daarios Naharis' betrayal of the Second Sons to Season 3.

Those were the tamer of the deaths in book three IMO, now we've got quite a few deaths of people who have taken pretty major roles in the show. Not to mention some epic scheme reveals that happen in book 3.

Sadly, Books 4 and 5 are quite sedate when it comes to deaths. It's as if GRRM lost his taste for the stuff. I'm waiting for another POV character to die, hopefully in Book 6.

Haven't caught up with season 4 of the show yet, but as far as I remember it was supposed to contain more of the second half of book 3 than books 4 and 5, and there were a lot of epic deaths in the second half of book 3.
