Let's say a character has an insecurity, Shin's own face works nicely. If someone intentionally jeered at his face, it would be very distracting. Frustrating and if they went out of their way to harm his face worse, it would set him on a tirade.

The emotional aspect of fights is too often ignored. That's why Shin wears the mask. None of his other injuries are bothersome, but the facial disfigurement is humiliating. Especially since it's his greatest failure.

Shin is a special case though, he has a visible flaw that can be picked up on by any opponent who can reasonably infer that he is sensitive about it. I agree with you however, outside of taunts which I have to admit I don't think would be very effective most of the time, people still sometimes fall flat on RPing real characters in Arena. There's always a danger of slipping into combat robot mode where the feeling of your character is barely there. Ironically, speaking of the Weeper, I made him a while ago to essentially force my opponents to pay attention to that side of fighting, I never got to use him much though.

My characters, as a whole, tend to be fairly melancholy. Some are slightly unhinged, most have regrettable circumstances in their lives which account for them essentially living lives of war, at least whenever they're unfortunate enough to be having their story told through me. However it would take a fairly perceptive opponent to really pick up on my character's insecurities and exploit them. Fury is by far the most vulnerable to emotional manipulation. The only character of mine who really does lack emotion is the Clockwork Man, and maybe Judgement, but that lack of emotion is significant parts of their personalities.

Still, an interesting point.

@MelonHead Sure multiple fights can give me different views on the character and see how to push her limits. Yes the Clockwork Man fight was wildly entertaining!

All three of those Characters looked to fit a fight against Scout quite well. Which would be your preference?

I'm honestly not bothered, I think Metz might be a little too much of a handful for her though, so maybe Isaac or the Weeper, either would be interesting. The Weeper is potentially more dangerous because he has a semi-automatic pistol, but it seems like Scoutti has an option available for projectiles so Isaac is probably the more credible threat. It's really up to you, the Weeper has been known to attack people completely at random, Isaac tends to be serving his master (who he believes is a man called Adrian Valdovsk, but is actually Vanarus Sallein) who's a Vampire Noble.

Which do you think would fit better fighting Scoutti? The Weeper could come equipped with a mini-crossbow or a flintlock instead if he needs to fight her in a medieval setting, both characters are pretty flexible in that regard, they're basically immortal.
FACT: No matter who Shin fights, no matter who they are as a person. They suddenly become the most emotionally stolid and immovable individual. Losing all emotional ties to their sense of self.

It's funny how that coincidentally ignores his jeering and vulgar manner of speech.

Total coincidence though.

What do you mean? People ignore his taunts? Unless he has a magical knack for it, it's unlikely he's said anything people haven't heard before. We do tend to play veteran characters after all.

@MelonHead Alright I have the 'Improved" Allomancer back up and running. I think she is mostly T3 with a few abilities that might make her T4. Anyone want a match to test her out?

I'd take you up on a fight if you've got time to fight multiple people, our NoW bout was one of my favourites.

I have a few characters I think -might- fit her tier and genre, in ascending order of difficulty:

The Weeper

Isaac the Ghoul

Metz

Also, as you're unfamiliar with all the characters (I created them after you disappeared, I believe) here's some of their fights. Isaac's is particularly amusing, it's not the first time I've made an opponent declare that the universe ceased to exist, actually.

You hinted a little about your new character to me so I'm super excited to see their full Character Sheet and introduction in the second season <3.

He's getting there, I've saved the best bit until last. He has quite the arsenal to draw from, and I'm designing some weird galactic bounty-hunter equipment and weapons. Everything else is pretty much done.
So good news is the power is back, so tonight when I get home I can try to write my post.

Bad news is that I see a second thunderstorm coming...

What you need to do is utilise the power of lightning to charge some kind of vehicle that inexplicably travels back in time and tell your past self to stop being such a slacker while Zeus isn't trying to destroy you.

Failing that you have to type really fast...

Anywho, thought I'd pop in to show I'm still around, even if I'm not currently posting anything IC. When the second season comes around I'm planning to introduce my second character hopefully. He'll be something a little different, so far it seems the things that have come from space have been trying to kill us all, I thought I'd bring in a guardian of sorts for a little change of pace and to help fight some of the big bads.

But don't worry, Silence will continue his descent into villainy and sow more chaos to balance the new guy out. The bad guys could use a few more victories.

Looking forward to seeing how everything wraps up.
Just to clarify as I know the system Sikako is familiar with, he is referring to a T3, perhaps T4 character at most, the Pater is T6 with a few abilities that push into T7. It doesn't really have any weaknesses, it can and has lol-dodged projectiles moving at supersonic speeds and above and it regenerates from harm pretty consistently. The Magna Pater isn't mid-tier, not unless half its abilities are nerfed or given hard caps. I think you'd struggle to find anyone here who knows the system who would say it was.

“You’re testing my patience. If you can’t fix your computer systems how were you ever going to get anywhere? Were you planning on just flying through space aimlessly until you found people who could help you?” Fury had turned on his heel and then began pacing, he didn’t have a brilliant analytical mind but Dunnaman’s excuses were starting to sound like exactly that, excuses. He didn’t want to give him the information he sought, that much was becoming clear. Or maybe he really didn’t know how to fix the computer and had simply planned to fly through space aimlessly. It was difficult to estimate the creature’s intelligence with that odd drawl, but he thought it stupid. Somewhere in Fury was a soldier though, and drilled in him was tactical awareness that almost resembled intuition. Dunnaman seemed stupid, but Ryllan scouts were no fools. Dunnaman would be dead or captured if he was as stupid as Fury believed him to be. Something wasn’t adding up.

So the next question that shot through Fury’s less than complex mind, churned by mechanisms that utilised brute force more so than intricate analysis, was why the man was withholding that information. If he was. Did he know something about Fury? The Fireen’s presence was certainly a give-away that he was more than met the eye, but he had already admitted to being no real friend of the Ryllans. Unless Dunnaman did not believe him, thought him a spy or an officer in the Empire, thought he would bring destruction down on his friends. Fair points all, but if it were not that threat then what? Did he believe Fury so great a threat that he could destroy the people who had helped him? Were they so few? Were they so weak?

Fury was irritated, it was difficult to think with the burning at the back of his skull distracting him. Goddamn the Void and its persistent nagging, its incessant whispering, its grating commands. Damn thing. If it were not obvious, the Fireen was growing more and more irate, and with that, his sanity was slipping.

“I am starting to think you like it here, Dunnaman.” Fury said after some time, allowing the creature to reply to his original question and leaving a lengthy pause in which he paced. “You are making a poor effort to see yourself off the planet, after all.” The threat was there again. He might kill Dunnaman, he might strand him here alone to while away his days, however many they may be, with a desiccated ship.

Hey Melon! Was that my Mass Effect guy Tanis and your Clockwork Man?

Yes it was.
What's a Baron?

Position of rank just below the King that originated in medieval society, they owe only the King allegiance in return for land.
