So mark down "time" as another thing this poor woman didn't understand.
"Mm...", the boy grunted as the man-lizard lumbered forward, still not leaving the recycling bin. Really, the bigger surprise was that his temporally-challenged opponent hadn't left hers. Standing in raw garbage for any length of time couldn't have been comfortable, especially in this heat.
"...Should I use one?", he mumbled aloud as the lizard prepared to slap him across the head, "I mean, it's only about 1800. I think I can handle it... Actually wait... No, yeah, I probably should use one, since my life points are static... My partner would be disappointed if I took damage from a weird hobo..."
He ducked the blow and tapped his duel disk display.
"I'll activate Waboku. All battle damage is reduced to zero, and my monsters... Were I to, theoretically speaking, have any monsters... My monsters would be indestructible for the duration. Have you finished?"

Meanwhile, elsewhere on campus...
__________
"Not so fast! I activate the trap card, Vanity's Emptiness!"
One of the trap cards flipped itself face-up, and with it the scattered doll parts began to disintegrate.
"While Vanity's Emptiness is on the field, NO monsters can be special summoned... INCLUDING those dolls of yours! But more importantly..."
The child squared their shoulders angrily.
"--What do you MEAN, 'only an idiot'? I mean, me, if I was gonna be trapped down in a hole, I'd DEFINITELY want something like this. This is like- this is the SISTINE CHAPEL of pitfalls, okay? It's THAT good. You see that timber?"
The child pointed to a barely-visible support embedded in the pit's wall.
"That's HAND-SHAPED, LOCALLY-SOURCED lumber right there, okay? The cushioning under you? One-hundred-percent biodegradable, re~cycled materials. Even the COVER you fell through cost vir~tually NOTHING to produce in resources. What, you're telling me that you've seen BETTER pitfalls? Huh? Cuz I'd sure like to SEE 'em. Me and partner are pitfall EXPERTS, okay? Act~ually, you know what? I wasn't planning to activate Tsujik's effect, since I felt SORRY for you, but now I am! Once per turn, I can target one of my Yosenju monsters, and boost its attack points by 1000! And my target is... Yosenju Tsujik! Now sic 'em, boy!"
The kid kicked the dirt and watched, hands on hips, as Tsujik renewed its attack, twice as vigorous as before.
"A-and just so we're clear: It's not like I wanted you to be IMPRESSED or anything, o-okay!?"
