"Oh, don't forget your late pass!" Mr. Clarkson handed Kirin a small slip of paper with his signature and the current time, 12:49 PM. As Kirin stepped into the hallway, his newly acquired iPod began to vibrate lightly in his pocket. The halls were completely empty; classes were still in session at this time, so anyone without a pass was doomed to get an earful from security or even detention. It would be hard to believe that only a few minutes ago there were hundreds of students bumping into each other and filling the corridors with constant noise and chatter.

So everyone knows, datadogie just contacted me saying he can't be in this rp anymore so I've removed him from the list of accepted characters. I am fine with just the four of you plus me, but I am willing to accept one more character to replace him as long as the CS is submitted relatively soon.
Kirin began to leave when Mr. Clarkson placed his hand on his shoulder. "Wait, I think you forgot this" Kirin turned to see an open palm balancing a rather exotic-looking iPod touch. "Is this yours? I saw it on my desk just now, but I don't remember it being there when we walked in so I figured you dropped it." He nudged his hand toward Kirin, waiting to see if it was indeed his or not.

Alex was heading back to the school from the field, looking at his camera as he walked. Having deleted the picture of his dream woman, he looked up just in time to prevent himself from walking right into a man who was standing in one place. This man was rather tall, and appeared well built. The odd part, however, was the fact that he was wearing a black army jumpsuit and a strange round helmet. The helmet had wires protruding from the back of the head connecting downward toward a device on the back of his belt in the shape of a box. On his right hand was a gauntlet equal in complexity as the helmet, with wires and other tech attached to it at various places.

The man turned to Alex and revealed that his helmet had a face guard covering his mouth and nose, as well as a sophisticated set of goggles completely obscuring his face. He stared Alex down for a good five seconds, and then simply walked away, toward the school.
"Ah, there you are! Please, step inside my classroom for just a minute. I'll write you a late pass." Mr Clarkson gestured toward the nearby classroom he had just stepped outside of. The two of them walked into an empty room; there was no class for that period, so all that remained were slightly disheveled desks, several lab tables with gas nozzles and sinks, a chemical shower in the corner with a floor drain beneath it, and Mr. Clarkson's desk at the front of the room.

"Look, you probably already know what I'm going to say. Last year you had my class, but you didn't do so well. I know you're a smart guy, but I'm a little concerned that your work ethic is going to really pull you down. All I'm saying is it's the start of a fresh new year, and it's the perfect chance to flip things around and really nail it this year. If you ever need help or you want to talk, just come find me." Mr. Clarkson wore a warm smile as he spoke, invoking a sense of sincerity. He really did care about his students and did whatever he could to lend a hand when possible, but now the situation was entirely in Kirin's hands.

Who needs resistance? My longbow sniper guy will instantly vaporize any of those plucky mages before they can get in range.

But not after
Mr. Clarkson was generally well known to the students as being the "strict science teacher", the one who gave out homework every day and had tough tests every quarter. That is not to say he was a cold, heartless person concerned only with the percent of passing students he pumps out each year; he simply took pride in being one of the more "diligent" teachers that did what he had to in order to ensure his students succeed. While some may not know it, the man happened to be quite approachable once you've had a class with him. Kirin, however, appeared to be an exception for whatever reason.

The teacher continued to watch Kirin as he passed by, either because he didn't hear him or because he ignored him. He noticed Alex run by, passing Katy as he ran. The three of them were known to be friends and so he felt obligated to ask, "Excuse me Katherine. If you happen to see Kirin today could you please tell him to come to Mr. Clarkson's room? He seems to be avoiding me, even though it's only the start of the school year."
