As it so turns out RPGuild is not dead and neither am I! However I have lost both of my personal devices recently so I am unable to say how I'll be able to keep up with this site if at all. I'm sorry.

Hey, you! Welcome to my Basic Member Page! I know, I know. Impressive. Please remove your jaw from the floor, your drool is staining my virtual carpet. Japes aside, seeing as you're still reading, I suppose I'll introduce myself.
My name's Tiye, and I've been role-playing on & off again for about 3 years now; originally with a few close friends, chat rooms here & there, but I mostly stuck with creative writings of own. Now I'm looking for more of a community. Some things about me: I'm a Black, 17 year old, agenderflux (they/she pronouns) teen who errs on the side of intrigue, and enjoys long walks by the beach. I've also been known to have a penchant for humor, but I don't know who started that vile rumor. If you find them, they're wanted deador alive.
So yeah, that's me. How about you? Don't be afraid to pm or message, I only bite when I'm hungry or bigots are nearby. Either way, have a good one :)
@ReveTheDreamer Oh my goodness! I think I legitimately skipped over the second sentence of Kludd's proficiency. Thanks for reminding me at least. ^^; Also glad to hear you're alive as well! Don't sweat it too much, this is for fun after all. :D
Perhaps, but depending on how you want magic to function in this world either Lalisa could learn to sprout healing fruit, or maybe even Seren could be taught to induce rejuvenating naps. Just a thought.
They/Them Pronouns for when Referring to Rin. Thank You!
As the pastel glow of dawn painted over Rin's shared bedroom from the high pane window on their back wall, Rin skipped over to their alarm and slammed it's off switch before a single chirp could be uttered. They'd been waiting for this. Already up, cleaned, dressed, and giddy Rin bounced away from their nightstand over to their full length mirror in the far left corner of the room. Looking themself over for the hundredth time since they'd resolved to just stay up the whole night, Rin smoothed down their hair for the umpteenth time. They rarely ever fussed over their clothes, but today was the day. The first day of their Pokémon journey. Sure, they'd haphazardly thrown whatever outfits that they first landed their eyes on into their trusty, mocha rucksack, and didn't bother packing any mementos, but that was the point. This was supposed to be new. This was supposed to be the start of the rest of their life; they couldn't have a bunch of keepsakes holding them back. Rin had already waited long enough. Apparently Kairi had had enough of them as well, for with all the grace of a Slakoth and the furry of a Primeape she flung her pillow square at the back of Rin's head. Her own head buried in her remaining pillow, which she'd stolen the night previous from Rin, she screamed, "Trying to sleep here!"
"Well I'm," Rin threw the pillow back at her, "trying to-" Rin never got to finish as Kairi had literally pounced on them in retaliation. Just a regular Mizushima morning. The rest of Rin's morning actually went by quite the same as it did every Wednesday. Dad was already at work, Yuri had already made breakfast, Kairi had already snatched the best slices of bacon, and Umi was already through her second cup of coffee before Rin came downstairs. Just a regular Mizushima morning, but nothing about it felt regular at all. With their impending departure it was, it was . . . boring! It seemed like time could still with how slow Yuri's smalltalk was, and every sip of Umi's coffee was another minuet passed not spent on the road. Another feeling pooled in their gut watching their sisters all leave out the door to head to their ealier classes that matched how Rin felt noting their father wasn't there, but Rin convinced themself it was just anticipation. Today was the day. Professor Eugene couldn't meet with them until noon, and it's not like Rin was actually going to go to school today. So after some last-last-looks, Rin figured they could pay the little brat a visit. Sure, Rin had already said their goodbyes to everyone on New Years Eve, but today was the day. 'I bet he'll be so surprised to see me,' Rin thought, picking up their rucksack and tossing on their dark red coat. 'He'll be surprised and annoying that is . . . but I'm gonna miss him.' It's not like Rin was feeling sentimental or anything. No, of course not! That'd be ridiculous! Rin's going to become a Pokémon Master! That's way cooler than this old town. 'Why do I want to memorize the smell of home so bad?' Stepping out the front door into the cool winter breeze, a frown only had the chance to creep on their lips, before splitting wide open for a smile.
"Happy Going Away, Rin," the crowd cheered in cacophonous glee! Rin's family, friends, and even Midori too were all there. All of them had been gathered outside just waiting to surprise the "totally-not-sentimental" upstart before they left on their way. Together, they spent the better half of two hours saying properly festive encouragements, and tearful goodbyes. Many slices of cake later, and one seriously suffocating group hug, and Rin was off again with renewed pep in their step. Today was the day. Seeing all of them was just what they needed to do before finally making their way to Professor Eugene's laboratory. Not bothering to take in anymore sights, or even to be polite, Rin shoved the entry way open, and announced at the top of their lungs:
"I'm Rin Mizushima, I'm going to be Primis' next Champion," bolting towards the professor at top speed as soon as he came into sight, Rin continued their screaming declaration, "and I'm here for my Pokémon!"
@Cherrywitch tsundere you say? so does that mean what my shipper heart think it means? Well maybe Seren and Raphael can take a class on it! At the very least Seren can be a groveling botherhelpful some more.
@OliveYou I agree about Ashley and Mikael definitely being our DPS tanks, and with Seren being Support as well as Fillan too I suppose(correct me if I'm wrong), but I sort of figured Lalisa would be our archetypal Main Mage with her having both magical prowess and physical frailty. As for Kludd, Feine, and Raphael they all seem pretty well suited to be mixed attackers covering magical, ranged, and melee.
All around, we're definitely a much more offensive group, so perhaps there can be some consequence to that in the future?
| Network | Izumi Hamada Childhood Rival Ever since their eyes met in preschool, these two have been at each other's throat. As kindred spirits of competition, the vast majority of their encounters include one-upping each other in any and every field imaginable and practical. In all honesty, through all of their bickering, fighting, and sabotaging the rivals actually spend most of their time around or thinking about the other. There might not be romantic sparks flying, but on more than one ocassion the two have stood up for one another, and have actually developed a complicated platonic bond. Becoming especially close after she was the first person Rin came out to, and being the one who helped them pick out their chosen name, the two have gone from hardened enemies to best frenemies. Last year, Izumi cemented her lead by being the first of the two to go off on their Pokémon Master Journey, so now that Rin knows Midori will for sure be in good hands it's time for them to play catch up. Midori Pest "Little Brother" Rin doesn't really remember the day the little orphan started following them around town, but every since he has Rin's never been able to forget his presence. Following them around wherever they go like a fish to water with a yammering mouth that never shuts up. What was initially a compliment, quickly grew into an annoyance over the course of an hour. Still, Rin always makes sure to take him out to Buger Bite or Peace Pizza during their lunch break, offer him a place to stay during the holidays, and Midori more than knows that despite his pestering ways, he always has a home with Mizushima family, yet Midori always turns the offers down. Always insisting he can't afford to miss it when his millionaire parents return on their luxury jet. Rin knows his parents aren't coming, and has told him so ample times, but Midori doesn't care. He's willing to wait. Rin's always admired the eleven year old's will, regardless of how misguided it is. So for now, Rin lets him pester them from dawn to dusk --with just as much bickering back-- and has done their best to be there for the little brat. Now that Rin's adventure has begun, they've left Midori in the care of their sister Umi, who has a surprisingly strong relationship with the youngster. Ms. Mary Aunt (See | Family | for Relationship)
Rin's copper skin, passed down from their father in a lighter shade, contrasts the light blue eyes left to them by their mother, from whom they also inherited their severe hearing difficulty. Aside from that, Rin's hair is also much waiver than their siblings' tightly coiled curls, and as such it's no surprise to anyone that the four of them have two different mothers. The differences don't just stop with genetics however. Rin prefers baggy, oversized, and loose-fitting casual wear with layers to go over their chest-binder which ocassionally has its grey shoulder-straps exposed due to Rin's penchant for v-necks. To match their favorite burgundy boots Rin always keeps a pair of gloves of similar hue on hand, and they're never spotted without their signature red bandana which holds back their shaggy, dark brown hair that reaches a little lower than the nape of their neck. As for accessories, Rin keeps it pretty tame with a hand-me-down pokéball necklace gifted to them by their aunt. All of this not mentioning the new, top of the line hearing aid that their father bought for them to commemorate and help them out on their jouney; doubling as a translator for several of the most popular languages of the PokéWorld, it's quite the nifty piece of modern technology, and a damn fine assitive device!
[=PERSONAL=]
| Personality | ENTP-A • Adventueous • Competitive • Independent • Blunt • Gregarious • Rin likes to be the center of attention, and isn't afraid to fight for it, but is also just as confident on their lonesome. Lover of good times, and maker of good vibes, Rin knows just how to attract friends, but can also find themself in shortage of them with their matter of fact stance on most matters. Where some might sugar-coat or think before they speak, Rin dives right into every issue, and tells it like is, or at the very least how they believe it is, without any mind for anyone else's opinion or feelings. Rin's the first to admit they're not perfect or always right, and they certainly aren't cruel, but they'll argue and prove to you something to their deathbed over something they're passionate about. Which is most things. All in all, Rin knows how to party like an animal, and compete like a beast; all the while, they say what they mean and mean what they say.
| Home Town | Zuerst At the Intersection of Route 1 and Route 10 A quiet and quaint town with enough amenities to keep one content, but Rin doesn't want to be content. Rin wants to be excited! Rin wants to be carefree not because everyday is the same plain, easy routine, but because their caught up in the thrill of adventure and can't help but never look back. Their fondest memories are on the family's ferry. Whether it be reveries of riding through the clearest blue water that side of the ocean, swimming with the playful aquatic pokémon, traveling to new destinations, or most especially: just getting out of that town. Rin's summers spent on the sea have more than shown them that there's so much more beyond the shores of Zurest. It's always been a disappointment coming back home where the world feels so much smaller after all that they've seen.
| Family | Isabella Aerie Mother
With stories of her fiery, blue eyes, unbreaking spirit, and bubbling passion all the adults of Zurest know exactly whose child Rin is at a glance, and they make sure to let them know at every opportunity. Of all her esteemed tales of valor and prowess, Rin's always wished she was there to tell just one of them herself. Alas, it seems nothing really could hold that woman down. Not her disability, not the great oceans, and not even her own child; a free spirit to the highest degree. Her absence has left Rin with a competitive chip on their shoulder with the need to prove themself, and a subconscious drive to follow in her footsteps.
Hisashi Mizushima Father
Growing up, Hisashi was quite aptly labeled a wallflower, and so he stayed well into his adulthood. It was a miracle that a nervous wreck like him was even able to propose to his first love, Sana, but it came as no surprise the new Mrs. Mizushima. The two had been close since middle school, and had been dating (with her prompting of course) for years before Hisashi finally had the nerve to pop the question. Together they bought their first house, and with its terrible view of the sea, small size, and squeaky flooring the two had nothing more to their names, but it was enough. That is until Hishashi felt the unbridled joy of becoming a father for the first time. Greater than graduating with his teaching degree in PokéTypes and Battle Strategy, and even greater than his Wedding Night, seeing his three, little girls for the first time was the greatest moment of his life. The most devastating moment of his life was holding Sana's hand as the last light of life left her eyes, having finally succumbed to dire complications she suffered from the birth of her triplets. Hisashi retreated into his work for both avoidant and practical reasons, as feeding four mouths on a new teacher's salary was far easier said than done. Thankfully he had support from his sister, as well as his parents and more thankfully than unfortunately, his parents liked to pester in his love life. So much so, they in fact set it up for Hisahsi to meet the infamous Ms. Isabella. For the three years they knew each other she came into his life, crashed through his walls, cut her way into his heart and carved a hole in it too when she left under the hush of night a few months after Rin's birth. She always said she had not a single maternal bone in her body. He guessed he should have saw it coming, but he can't really think about it. It's too much to process on top of everything else. He just keeps himself afloat with routine. Wake up. Eat breakfast. Go to work. Come home. Say goodnight. Sleep. Repeat, and it keeps the family afloat economically as well. As for fathering, no one can say anyone gives better hugs than he, but Hisashi would be lying if said he was there for his kids like he should have been, yet still he's trying. He's trying his best, and his kids turned out okay, so what's there more to say? Nothing as far as the Mizushima children are concerned. He's done his best.
Yuri, Kairi, and Umi Older Sisters
These triplets can be summed up as: The Nice One, The Mischievous One, and The Smart One respectively. As Rin's paternal sisters, they may come from Hishashi's previous marriage, but one could never tell from their immediately obvious bond. Through Yuri's babying, Kairi's pranking, and Umi's nagging it's clear the four of them are as close as any full-blooded siblings. As their seniors by three years the girls know more about Isabella then Rin does, and were witness to the whirlwind romance that was Hurricane Aerie. From sweeping Hishashi off his feet to leaving him in the dust. At first, the toddlers had held it against baby Rin as they were the only remnant of Isabella left, but with time came maturity and love. None of them perfectly fit the older sister role with Yuri acting as Rin's mother, Kairi like a younger sister, and Umi . . . well Umi just sticks to herself in her room for the most part. Regardless, they're family, and that's all that matters. Yuri holds down the fort because her father just doesn't have it in him, and they've all grown up faster then they should have; even Kairi when she doesn't think anyone is looking drops her smile, and just lets herself look tired, but no matter. No matter at all. They make it work. That's what a family does. They love, support, and make it work. They have to.
Ms. Mary Aunt
Mary has always been Rin's favorite aunt, and that's not because she's their only aunt either! A stern hand to guide, an exuberant smiling to inspire. Mary's taken a shine to Rin since before they even chose the name "Rin" for themself. Early on she took them under her wing, teaching them all about the ferry, water type pokémon, fishing, and how to have fun. While distinctly and rightly so more of an aunt than a mother-figure, Mary's still been one of the strongest role models in their life. Their dad, her brother, is a reserved and a workaholic, almost never having time to be at home where he was needed, but Mary knew just how to balance ambition and affection. Showing them the ropes, Mary's been both a balancing force and a exciting one. Giving Rin just the attention and confidence they needed, and their thirst for adventure that they've never been able to give up.
[=HISTORY=]
| Biography | Childhood
Nestled in the small town of Zurest, the little bungalow by the water houses the Mizushima family. It was a tight fit with the five of them, but they made it work. Through bickering till they were blue in the face to running around the place till they were red in the face, they made it work. Their Aunt Mary helped it so. She'd frequent their house, and take the kids from their tired father's arms; exposing them to the big, blue, and beautiful world. The sea was their tall grass, and they explored it gleefully, near bursting they were so giddy. When Rin wasn't playing house with Yuri, being teased by Kairi, napping with Umi, or showing off to Izumi, they were splashing on the shoreline or pretending to be captain of the ferry. It was simple, but it was fun. It was enough for the time, but eventually school started. At first, the need to be the best drowned out all complaints, and this fire was more than stoked by Izumi's rivaling talent. However with a schedule now, the days began to blur. One after the next, after the next, until Rin just knew they needed an out. So rather than keeping up with their studies, much to their father's dismay, they upped their social game. Chatting their way up the social ladder, and chipping away their grades. Though what's a childhood without laying some bad paths for the future?
Adolescence
Starting with their twelfth summer, that out was working full-time with Aunt Mary. Acting as Tour Guide, Rin laid witness to waters far beyond their small town, and even past Route 10. It was breathtaking being on the water, able to speak on everything they've been excited about since they were a kid, and not only was Rin getting out, but they were beginning to come out that summer as well. Puberty was really proving how disconnected they felt from the label "girl" and conversely everything the term "boy" implied as well. Neither catagory felt like them, but rather some foreign concept with no true translation. That and their birth name, so distinctly feminine, just started having a sour ring to it. So they tried out new names by giving the prospecting names to the ocassional customer, and took a leap of faith during a bonding moment with Izumi. Rin corrected her comment about how the two were "just two girls at odds with the world and each other," and following the ensuing heart to heart, Rin began to build up their confidence to tell their family. For the first time in their life they felt at a loss for words. They didn't know what to say, which order to say it in, or even when was a "good time." So to finally get it off their chest, they abruptly stood up on a table at the commencement of their fifteenth birthday party, and told it like it was.
"I'm not a girl, and I'm not a guy, but I am eating this birthday pie, so you can get on board, or you can get out!"
With that they sat back down to eat their nervousness away. Though not letting the moment of silence persist, they added,
"At least clap or something? That was harder than I made it look."
When Izumi immediately clapped a little too enthusiastically, the crowd erupted in laughter and cheers. Yuri patting them on the back with her warmest smile; Kairi ruffled their hair with hollering endorsement; Umi clapping along, mouthing the words 'proud of you'; and their Father simply wrapping them in a hug. His only question?
"How can we make you comfortable?"
A chest binder from the holidays and one name change later, and the rest is history. Sure some "friends" from school showed their true colors, and some people actually did get out like Rin advised, but everyone who mattered stuck around with loving arms. Life was good.
Inspiration
Adventure? Check. Pokémon? Check. Unpredictability? Check. Far Away From Home? Check. Chance for Glory? Check. Being a Pokémon Master isn't Rin's destiny, it's their every wish come true! They've been biting their nails in anticipation ever since they first heard of their mother's travels throughout the PokéWorld on her Talonflame. Though Rin doesn't just want to see it from the sky like she did, they want to traipse through every town, crawl through every cave, meander through every meadow, and most importantly: swim every sea. Rin was born to be Trainer. They know it, their father knows it, and so does everyone else in Zurest. The only thing holding them back was obligation. They couldn't just . . . leave. They had too many things behind them, and at first it was a labor of love, but it really began tearing them down. Rin wanted to be the dutiful child, the helpful sibskid, the protective watcher, and they wanted their family too. Despite all their yearnings to leave, life was good all in all. Their family was good to them. Rin wanted their cake and to eat it too, but they began to settle for just watching it grow stale. So much time passed, even Izumi decided to up and leave, and Rin was so proud of her --if also extremely jealous and enraged she'd gotten a headstart-- she deserved to live her dreams . . . and so did Rin. Like they were back in preschool barking at each other like two rabid Houndour, their rivalry sparked something inside of them. They needed to get out of town more than they needed to breath, and they knew just the Pokémon Professor who could help them!
I fear our party may be in dire need some form of endurance or mana conservation classes, because now we're three members down and/or out of commission! Loved your post btw @CherryWitch this isn't a dig at you at all. I just re-read my post and figured I clarify just in case. I do hope our more brawny friends will stick close to us in the future ;-; We're gonna need it!
Do you have a set list of course options in mind for us to be taking for the classes, or will we be mainly making it up as go along including the basic stuff like: Elements, Spellcasting, Ritual, etc, etc.
