Current Anybody wanna read a sloppily planned YA fantasy about a demigod that discovers the concept of love and family in a world that literally bends over to hate him? No? Yeah, me neither ;_;

Would probably get back into RPing if I wasn't writing my own stuff. And working.

Well, you're back, s'all that matters. And don't worry, you haven't missed much.
With some help, Joey had managed to weakly rise to his feet, groggily leaning against the nearest wall in an attempt at support. "C-corr...what a lovely day this is turning out t'be, eh?" He mumbled through a groan, looking on as the others in the area went about tidying up the space.

You see, in the event of the ship's rough landing, Joey returned to the cannon bay he was volunteering at, as it was the location he was currently the most familiar with. The Commander advised holding onto something, to prepare for such a landing. Instead, Joey scrunched into the nearest corner, keeping himself low and making himself small. Later he'd recall the act as "a good idea at the time."

And it worked, for the most part. As the ship bumped and rumbled along the ground, Joey bumped and rumbled right along with it. What the scruffy Earthshaper failed to account for, was the surviving cannons struggling to hold their positions at their posts. The wooden blocks holding them in place jiggled out of position, leaving some free to move about the cabin. Some workers were able to hold down a cannon, while others could barely keep their footing and tumbled about with the cannonballs. Before Joey could make any sort of comment or spring into any sort of action, a loose cannon rolled in from his immediate right. The breech and button of the weapon slammed into him, nearly smashing his ribs and pinning him into the corner he once took solace in. Joey failed to brace himself for the cannon, and the immediate brunt of the artillery slammed his head hard enough into the adjacent wall to turn out his lights.

Once the ship came to a complete stop, and the bay workers were free to start patching up holes, one of the workers worked to move a runaway cannon out of a corner, only to notice the unconscious mage nearly squished behind it. First, the man went to place the cannon back in its designated spot. Then, he dragged the limp Earthshaper from the corner, and slapped him awake. "You good, man?" The worker asked as Joey began to stir. He was rushed to his feet once his eyes opened. "Y-yeah mate, thanks." He replied weakly as he tried regaining his vision and catching his breath. Sharp pains came from his abdomen and right arm. The arm in question was noticeably bruised, a deep purple splotch inhabited space from his shoulder down to his elbow. It was challenge to move the limb without succumbing to a ton of pain. The Earthshaper sighed to the best of his ability as he dragged himself out of the cannon bay. A few days before the expedition, he remembered overhearing something about a light mage's ability to heal injuries. And as he trudged down a semi-vacant corridor, he could overhear the directions of the towering metal molder, Vanahara.

"Master Smith is down that way," She mentioned to the one girl mage who's name Joey couldn't currently recall. Then Vana proceeded her own way, making her way past Joey to her own devices. The Earthshaper thought it wise to follow after what's-her-face, in hopes to locate the master Illuminate for his own injuries. "I would rather go outside to see the land, but healing my injuries come first." He thought with a pitiful sigh. It was indeed turning out to be quite the lovely day for the boy.
"Uh...this is Robyn...I mean...wait...I'm Robyn...This is Nina...Yeah."

Ezra couldn't help but crack a toothy grin as the girl fumbled over a introduction. He stifled a few light chuckles through his smile, attempting to keep from looking like some sort of emasculating asshole. But, he couldn't help it. She was too cute. The leafy, fluffy onion she called Nina made noises at the two, and Brie failed to respond. Ezra could interpret the noises as a simple greeting, and Robyn seemed to confirm it.

Soon the area filled in with two other inhabitants, one being the young, familiar faced Ato. Ezra looked on as the three conversed, making some thoughtful observations about the girl Robyn addressed. "Tall...hime cut..." As he surveyed the female, his face began to twist into a guise of surprising realization. Ato being in the scene practically confirmed Ezra's suspicions.

As the three trainers tried to figure out what the pink kitty could've been called, Ezra's mouth slowly grew into an excited, gaping, gasping maw. "Ohhhhhh! You're the girls Ato told me about!" He interrupted with a clap. "Missing a lab coat though..." He mumbled a absentminded comment on one of the descriptions the assistant made. There might've been some characters of the ensemble missing from the scene.

"Which one of y'all's from Unova? Heard a lot of awesome stuff about that place." He asked, barely holding in his excitement. Said excitement got him so caught up in the moment, he almost bypassed his own introduction. "Oh, uh, I'm Ezra, of the house descendant Daly." He reflexively twisted the pendant on his necklace as he announced himself. "I'm a representative the River's Flow Dojo in Mistriver. And this is Brie." He gestured towards the Oshawott, who was wondering why he hadn't moved on down the road by now.
Ezra could only lap about the route but so many times before he would feel the need to take a break. He met the entrance to the East Sengun Forest a few times over the course of the hour, and failed to locate Ato anywhere near the entrance. Brie had tapped out some three laps prior, and took solace in lounging on her trainer's shoulders. The sporty guy had resorted to meandering about the trail in the meantime, taking the time to explore a little more of the locale while playing around on his Pokédex.

It was an efficient piece of technology, effortlessly recording every little Pokémon that would cross his path. Or, it would record it's picture, at least. Ezra couldn't really figure out how the device recorded information until he scrolled past the Oshawott and Azurill entries. "So it seems I have to catch the pokémon first to get their full information...?" He gave brief thought to how that process even worked out. Seemed like some space age stuff to him. "What a time to be alive-"

"LILLLLLLLLL!" A shrill cry emitted somewhere out of sight, but close enough to lurch Ezra and Brie out their collective thoughts. "Huh?" It was definitely a cry he couldn't recognize. Sounded like someone in need of assistance. His legs were bounding towards the location far before he realized it. As he neared, the sounds of a kerfuffle grew louder. ”Nyaaa~!” ”Peti!” “Nina! Absorb!” Sounded like a battle judging by the human voice calling out names and demands. Brie wondered why her trainer was still moving so fast. “Oshawott, shawott wott.”Just sounds like a regular ol’ battle from here, one of them is even enjoying themselves. Slow down.” She didn’t see the need for urgency. Ezra let up some. “You have a point.”

He came to a stop in a surprisingly open area, a field that wouldn’t be immediately noticed from the tree riddled route leading to the forest. Down a hill leading into the tall grass, it seemed the battle had ended. A lone girl was sitting in the grass, coddling what looked to be a proud green flower bulb. Ezra whipped out his pokedex, and sure enough, the cute green fluffy onion showed up on screen. But, as expected, no name. He felt he might’ve been interrupting something precious, but his curiosity got the better of him, as it always did.

“‘Scuse me,” He greeted. “I just heard some crazy noises coming from over here; felt the need to check it out. But, s’looks like you got everything under control here!” He stretched the fabric of his top, an athletic compression shirt, absentmindedly. “What’s uh, what’s this cutie’s name? Never seen one where i’m from.” He asked, thumbing towards the petite Grass type. Brie wasn’t all that okay with the meeting, a glance towards the mystery ‘mon made her shudder and grip Ezra’s scalp.

“O-oshaa wott? Osha-a-wott wott?!” ”O-okay, you’ve seen what the problem was, right? C-can we go now?!” She pleaded, with a uncomfortable grimace.
Yup, the ship slid to a stop as it touched down.

"...That particular change lasted just a moment as the ship slammed and skipped along the earth..."

"...the ship lost what little altitude it had left as it had cleared the storms...After skidding along the earth with the metal hull taking a beating, the ship finally skidded to a stop..."

@hoppiholla391 about that drawing, was it commissioned? I'd like a cool little drawing for Horatio...
"HOLD STEADY! WE'LL GET OUT OF THIS GOD FORSAKEN STORM YET, AND LEAVE A TRAIL BEHIND US!" As Horatio charged up to the main deck, the defiant cries of the commander were heard. Joey only had but a brief glimpse of the man in action, the human whirling dervish hacking his way through whatever looked ugly and unfriendly. It was quite inspiring, actually. Joey may've not considered himself to be the most heroic fellow, but he loved a good scrap. And looking about the mayhem unfolding on the deck, he couldn't help but join in.

"Aye, sir!" He called, rushing into the fray. He targeted a harpy, one noticeably smaller than the one he had to wrestle below deck. Already sprinting at full tilt, he lept through the air, securing his legs firmly around its neck. The forward momentum of a 170 pound man could most likely put you on your back if you're not prepared for it, as the Earthshaper was so quick to prove with the unorthodox tackle. The harpy, stunned and dazed from such a rush, was at his mercy. Joey had to work quick, brandishing his blade to perform a case of shivs into the bird's abdomen. Even if it could survive the barrage of stabs, he was sure to make sure it wouldn't fight back, not without its guts spilling all over the place.

He rolled away from his defeated opponent, as the ship was forced to make a hasty descent. It didn't take much for him to notice the sand and dust kicking up along the sides of the aircraft. "Corr! Gives me a chance to refill my sack!" He ran alongside the metal railings, dragging his open hands through the airborne dirt. Passing a hand through dust might've felt like playing with smoke to some, but for Horatio it was comparable to collecting a handful of snow. He collected a decent sample for his sack, patted his clothes down with some (for extra insurance), and launched a quick shot of the stuff at another harpy, just because.

"BACK INTO THE SHIP! NOW! EVERYONE INTO THE SHIP, TO THE STAIRS!" The Commander called again. Sounded like recess was ending. Joey took a second to survey the battlefield in that time, noticing the towering girl protecting others with a formidable shield, the male Hydromancer conjuring his own lightning storm, and the crossbow wielding Alchemist needing a distraction. Using two hands, Joey collected what looked to be a snowball-sized clump of sand and bolted towards her, taking a second to remember her name.

"Ling! Cover your face!" As she stared down a drake, Joey launched the ball at her feet, the deceivingly compact sphere creating a large shroud between her and the beast. This left the dragon disoriented and blind, and left Joey beside the girl. "Can you see?" He cleared a path for her in case she couldn't. "Get below deck, i'll be right behind ya!" She nodded and sped off, with Joey fast on her heels. And just in time, too. As Joey gave a glance back at the dragon, he could see a spew of flame cutting through his fabricated dust storm. He had the urge to rush back and shove a clod of earth down the lizard's gullet, but figured he'd be concerned for his personal well being, just this once.
"...And you KNOW just how vulnerable it is to be when you're taking a shower! You're wet and naked and slipping and sliding all over the damn place!" Ezra laughed as he made his way down the mostly linear trail, having a rollicking good time conversing with his cousin.

"Of course imma freak out if something lands on my face while I'm washing up, I don't care how many black belts I have!" He laughed some more. Through his earbuds came a series of beeps, indicating a incoming call. "Hold on Mel, someone else is calling." He switched over. "Hulloooo?" Ezra slowed down his jog to walking speed. It was Ato calling.

"Hey, Ezra, just me. Had a thought. Y'know how there were three or four others who signed up yesterday, before you turned up? Might be a bit late to catch up to that group, but there's a bunch of newcomers registered this morning. Just got out of Regala, on their way to Mystriver. Maybe you could tag along with these guys, if you want company on the road?"

Naturally if it meant new forms of social interaction, Ezra was intrigued. "Really? Shouldn't be much to catch up to them, doubt they gotten to Mistriver already...d'you remember any of their names? What should I be looking out for?" He asked.

"They're a bit of a mix and match. Most of them came in from overseas. One's from Hoenn, two from Unova, and one from Sengun. I'm supposed to be leading them through the forest to Verdan, so they'll catch up to me soon enough."

"Overseas?" Now Ezra was excited. It would be his first time meeting someone from out of region. "Now I REALLY gotta meet up with 'em. What's one of them look like? D'you remember?"

"Take your pick. Lab coat and glasses, dark-skinned girl with a Petilil, or the tall one with the hime cut."

"Hime cut..." Ezra reiterated. "Alright. I'll be on the lookout. Meet you at the forest." As Ato hung up, Ezra patched back over to his cousin. "Sorry for the wait Mel. Turns out there are people coming from all over the place to take the league challenge! Hoenn, Unova...wait, did he say Mistriver?" He paused.

"Ain't the first gym leader here?" Melanie asked her cousin. Ezra almost kicked himself for overlooking such a detail. "Had no idea...well damn, if that were the case, I could've just stayed home and saved the money!" He chuckled and sighed. "Okay, let's see if I can find any of these trainers..." His voice trailed off as he surveyed the scene. "Lab coat...dark skin...tall...hey Brie, d'you know what a Petilil looks like?" He asked the Oshawott.

"Oshawott." "Nope." She shrugged back.
The battle raged on below deck, with the harpy continuing to blindly thrash about the weapons room, and with Horatio constantly looking for a way to attack it. One attempt had him receive a kick to his chest for his efforts, and sent him flying towards the harpy's point of entry. Joey would've already considered his demise imminent, if it weren't for a sturdy sheet of ice interrupting his fall. Seemed one of the hydromancers already sealed up the hole the monster made for itself. "Phew. Hydro kids...work fast..." He groaned, heart jumping in his chest. The harpy screeched and presented its back, and Joey saw an obvious entrance. "Time ta put this bird down." With a springboard off the ice, the rogue lept with his blade bare, embedding the blade into the beast's body.

"SCREE! SCRE-urk" One stab after another, Joey planted the blade in the harpy's neck, dislocating its spinal cord in enough spots to get it to shut up. The lifeless body was quick to slump to the ground, giving the earthshaper a chance to roll away from the beast. He stayed at a low stance, bringing his dagger to the ready. Its blade and his hands dripping with pungent blood. "Ya still wanna go? Glass ya once, and you'll get glassed again, luv." The harpy failed to respond. Joey smirked, and rose to his feet. He cleaned the blood from his person, wiping himself clean on the harpy's feathers.

"Heh. Y'know, s'not the first time i've had ta backstab somebody..." He gave brief allusion to his past life, glancing at the surviving crew members. "I'll go up top, see if they'll need any extra hands." With a smirk and a quick salute, he retreated to the main deck.
Usually, Ezra wouldn't be the one to dwell too long in one spot. If the sun was up, then he would be on the move. But, this was his first time being back in the Regala kingdom since he was a child. Seemed a lot of the place changed in his absence. It was only reasonable that he would linger around the city just a little longer than most. He had resigned to the river leading into the forest, taking a moment to enjoy the fresh water. He sat his sneakers beside him, and set his feet into the cool, babbling stream. "Ahhh~" He sighed in content. "Them dogs were beginning to bark. I needed this." He sighed again. A petite little sea otter joined him at his side, receiving a scratch under its chin before diving into the river. As the Oshawott splashed about, Ezra could only look on in some envy.

“Really, B? Don’t tease me like that.” He really wanted to dive in after her. But, he did his best to resist the temptation. ”I know if I go in, i’ll never want to get out!” The Oshawott breached the water surface as majestically as she possibly could, to really rub it in. ”Osha? Oshawott!” ”Are you coming in? This water feels wonderful!” She called. Ezra had to decline.

“Negatory, Brie! I don’t wanna get my underwear soaked!” He called back. She seemed to scoff at such an excuse. ”Osha? Osh osha! Osh!” ”Really? Don’t give me that! You'll get wet anyway when you sweat!” Before he could reply proper, the mischievous little Oshawott shot a formidable stream of water at her trainer, completely soaking his shirt. ”Wotta oshosh!” ”There! Now you’re all wet! Get in here!” She trilled as she splashed about. Ezra made a wild grin as he scrambled to his feet. “Really? Is that how you’re gonna do it?!” He was halfway out of his shirt and ready to jump in, when a voice called his name.

"Ezra? I thought you'd have moved on by now, since you registered yesterday. Or did you only start proper this morning?” Struggling back into his shirt proper, Ezra could notice the young lab assistant he acquainted himself with from the day before. “Ato! S’good to see ya again, little bro!” He took for the boy’s hand, providing a firm, vigorous shaking. “Well, I would’ve been off for the forest by now, but I spotted this cool looking river, and chilled here for a bit. A little Azurill bounced up beside me, and said he wanted to see the world!” He displayed pokeball the little mouse rested in, unclipping it from his rucksack. “How could I say no to that? He’s a young’un too, just a bit younger than Brie. Speaking’a which…” He let out a sharp whistle towards the river. “Hey Brie, come out and say hi to Ato!”

Bursting out in a plume of water, the petite Oshawott trotted onto land, shaking herself dry in the process. “Well, if I wasn’t wet from earlier, that certainly would’ve done the trick.” Ezra commented with a chuckle. ”Oshawott…” ”Well, I told you to get in, but you didn’t want to listen…” She replied as she slapped a flipper at Ato’s shin, her own personal greeting. “Welp, I guess we can start on our journey proper…” Ezra slipped back into his sneakers and patted himself down, making sure he had all his items. Soon, his PokeLink went off. “Must be Melanie.” A cousin of his who was about as chatty as he was.

“I gotta take this, A. Catch ya on the flipside, yeah?” He tightened the straps on his rucksack, gave Ato a heavy shoulder pat, and broke into light trot down the route. "Make sure you keep in touch!" He added. Brie, while small, could easily keep the pace beside her trainer. With his earbuds plugged in, Ezra started up the call. “Hey Mel, what’s uuuuup?” Soon, he jogged to thump of his own tempo, and got lost in the conversation.
