Out of curiosity, if we were to design another race, would you be happy to review it?

I would go so far as to say that I encourage everyone to submit alien races for review even if their character won't be a member of that race themselves. In fact I'd appreciate any new factions or any ideas you all might have as well. As for robots I'm not really sure what you mean by that so I'd like you to elaborate please.

Biography:
Lin is a product of the Expanse, having been born in this lawless area of space. She learned through experience that life wasn't always fair and that sometimes bad things happen to good people. Necessity forced her to make a living in any way she could, whether it be smuggling precious artifacts through 'civilized' space or simply killing someone because someone else didn't like them, she made the best of her situation. The years have made her less inclined to hurt people without reason, having made enough enemies already. In her early twenties she was part of a group known as the Black Chi Pirates. They raided and pillaged small outposts for a time but Lin grew tired of the life and 'acquired' one of their vessels for her own. Now with a crew and a need for money in order to keep her ship running she's set off among the stars.

To be honest I didn't expect to get this much interest so fast. I haven't really fleshed out much of the world but I'm getting to it bit by bit. I do work and have kids so it might take me a few days to get everything squared away.

I was hoping to get this mission going. At this point I'd have to come up with some lame excuse to add people in ,if I wait until we complete the first mission I can just throw them in later at the start of the second mission.

There will be several different large governments, minor governments, and smaller independent groups. Apart from that there will be The Expanse, which isn't a place in itself but the gaps between "civilized" space where everything from starry eyed entrepreneurs to viscous pirates roam around in search of money, power, and fame among other things. There will be a main story arc but the way I like to run my RP is by doing things episodically so each job or event might be one episode and then the next might be a main story episode with a good chunk of story in it. The rest is still in progress (as in I'm pulling it out of my butt as we speak).

The Galaxy

The expansion of man across the stars has led to many new cultures springing up on distant worlds. Humanity shares it's galaxy with several other races that live in relative peace with one another. Nations prosper in their own corners of space and the vast expanses between them are largely unregulated by any form of law. As such many pirates have taken to calling these expanses home. Many different peoples from many different walks of life try to make it in the lawless expanse leading to a population as varied as the number of stars on the galaxy.

Human

Balai

Name: Balai, plural Balai
Family: Feline
Average Height: 4-5 feet tall
Bio: Often referred to as 'cat people' due to their similarities with felines found on earth, although referring to them as such is considered derogatory. Balai have a deep connection with nature and are considered the most eco-friendly race in known space. Their skin tone varies as much as human's do. They have a lifespan of roughly 100 years.

Korallian

Name: Korallian, plural Korallians
Family: Aquatic
Average Height: 6-7 feet tall
Bio: Korallians originate from the planet Korallia, a member of the FUP, and are spread out among union planets. A relatively advanced species that greatly values the pursuit of knowledge. Their skin ranges from an alabaster white to shades of grey with no hair and webbed digits. They have a lifespan of roguhly 70 years.

Jakahlo

Name: Jakahlo, plural Jakahlo
Family: Reptilian
Average Height: 7-9 feet tall
Bio: Originating from a desert planet they prefer warmer climates. They behave almost superior to most other species as a result of being the apex predator on their hime planet. Scales can range from dark black and grey to shades of green. Their lifespan is roughly 500 years although there are very few Jakahlo who actually live that long.

Factions

The Federal Union of Planets

The FUP has the most varied population in terms of member species. They control 42 planets in 35 systems in total and are the largest political body in terms of territory. Most worlds under FUP control are well developed and heavily policed making it a nightmare for smugglers, pirates, and ne'er do wells. The Capital of the FUP is Earth and represents the epitome of law and order. The most abundant race is Human

Jakahn Dominion

Perhaps the only government rivaling that of the FUP is the Jakahn Dominion. They control 38 planets in 32 systems and boast the largest, though not the most technologically advanced, military in terms of numbers. Their society enforces a caste system and warriors are at the top, which means their government is effectively an oligarchy. The dominant race is Jakahlo.

The Shas'Balai Nation

Literally translates to, Cradling the Child. Balai themselves have a deep respect for nature and the environments of the planets they live on and so most settlements are suburban at best, resulting in a smaller overall population than almost every other race. The Shas'Balai have a small population of foreigners and control 12 planets in 6 systems. Their capital is Hashaz'Bala.

Red Star Mining Company

Hosting several hundred mining installations in the expanse the Red Star Mining Company is the single largest supplier of raw materials to the FUP and many other minor powers. Although they don't technically have a military, Red Star employs a sizable 'security force' to protect it's assets and has been rumored to hire mercenaries for less then legal operations. Red Star, of course, denies any allegations insinuating that they are anything but a legitimate mining company.

Korallian Institute of Science

Considered to be the most prestigious place of learning in 'civilized' space. The institute itself is on Korallia and is therefore subject to the laws of the FUP but largely acts on it's own authority. Research labs tied to the Institute are hidden all over the expanse where innovative minds aren't bound by FUP laws.

The Children of Noria

A multi-racial relief group that runs aide missions all across the galaxy. Not much is known about how they operate other than that they accept donations but many worlds benefit from their vigilance.

Tri-Skellian Raiders

A loose association of pirates and smugglers that typically operate just outside of FUP space. They are considered to be extremely dangerous and unpredictable as that is the nature of anarchy.

Yamada Industries

A multinational company that manufactures high quality spaceships and spaceship parts. They do business with anyone so long as the money is right.

Lorkin Inc.

A major manufacturing company that mostly produces military grade hardware from firearms to spaceship cannons.

Adventures in SPACE!!!

Do you like space? Do you like adventures? If so I believe I have an RP for you. This will be centered around a single ship's crew as they find their way through inhabited space dealing with different nations and smaller independent groups. The crew can be from several different races which will be explained OOC. Most of our time will be spent just trying to make ends meet, taking odd jobs, performing the occasional crime, and whatever else comes our way in an effort to survive in the galaxy. Standard guild rules of course and I will have predefined crew positions for each of you to fill. I'm sure you'll have plenty of questions I won't anticipate but for now I'm going to start fleshing out the world in preparation.
