Mina allowed herself to drop onto her worn out cottage, a yawn escaping her. She was exhausted after her day of work, her eyes immediately closing when she managed to get part of the covers over her battered body.
If it was up to her Mina wouldn't be working this hard, she would rather go to school, but her situation didn't allow that. Mina's family didn't have the money to pay her school, so she was forced to stop going. Her younger sister was still going to school, so Mina worked to save up for her college and made sure her sister had all she needed.
It didn't help that their mother was an alcoholic and didn't have a job either. She got into fights with her almost every every day and they never ended pleasantly.
After closing her eyes she immediately fell into a dreamless sleep, her own safe haven of darkness. Only when she slept was she at peace.
Unlike any other day of sleep though, her dreamless sleep was different. She felt herself floating in the darkness, and then a shape appeared out of nowhere.
What was that.. a square? No, it was too uneven for that, more rectangular. She glanced at the shape and found out it was a mirror, her reflection staring back at her.
She couldn't see her own body, but her reflection was there, clear as day.
Her hand touched the glass, even though she couldn't see it, and suddenly she was dragged into the mirror as if it was water she could simply flow through.
She landed on a soft meadow, grass around her, a soft breeze brushing over her skin. The ground was warm, the dew of the grass dripping down her skin, it was more comfortable than her bed, but where was she?
She heard talking.., other people? Was it a dream?
She didn't know the people in that stood near her, speaking to something she couldn't see through the high grass, so it was unlikely she was dreaming. She lay there for a few moments longer, before sitting up and looking around.
