I think he was unattached- and even so, he has no Mech, so he could join Blyskawica temporarily before regrouping with them. He has a specialized role after all.

So I'll wait then...Should I post Alec doing recon in Poland?

Sure, but I thought your character was with the Hard Knocks unit? Wouldn't he stay with them until they got deployed too? Unless you're going to recon an LZ or something for them. In any case, your call.

It might be the case that when you wanted a sit-rep, the recon team came up against this. It is literally the first wave of forces- this offensive by the rebels/Green Men has gone on for the last few days in particular, but when you said that everything was kinda collapsing, I assumed that this was the vanguard of an Invasion force. So the VDV you saw and the Mech was literally the first pieces of equipment on the ground- with Jan's intel perhaps being the first that NATO HQ might actually hear that CSTO are involved, being thus far just a massive advance by Green Men/defected forces. I did think you implied it, but none the less, the invasion isn't fully underway- it's mostly how Jan percieves it, and if anything, is the preliminary phase. Paras being dropped in among apparently rebel forces, the smoke stacks of armor and the slow push of CSTO into the area, with this being maybe the absolute first that they'll hear. Apologies if it was a bit too avantgarde- it was just when you mentioned that basically, things had gone to shit, I stepped in and basically went a bit further (sorry). If it's anything, you can make it the first report even received of Russian forces (with the Poles all pretty unanimous about the Green Men and militias being either CSTO-backed and the whole being very fucking shady), and perhaps triggering Alec's deployment as a recon unit, before the main force are deployed en masse to help protect Warsaw. Apologies in advance- but it did raise the stakes, by kinda throwing the idea that Squad One was pretty fucked in Lublin.

No problem, like I said it wasn't my original idea, but hell I'll make it work I guess.
My thoughts on the true Polish rebels is that they're fighting not so much for a pro-Russian Poland as they are against what they've perceive as an ineffective and corrupt government. This is after a long chain of controversial incidents over the last few decades, many of which would've been instigated by CSTO, and during some global economic depression, perhaps. And while I do agree with you king that there are these formations of "Green Men" backing up the rebel army, I don't think I wanted full blown VDV units being parachuted in or a bonafide CSTO invasion yet. Nor did I want a mech like the Strelya-2AF (which I assume is up to date and "modern" if it's still used by the paratroopers) being introduced this early on. Otherwise, I thought the post was great.
Posted. Anyone not already assigned to a mech unit and has themselves just listed as "Recon" or anyone "Unassigned" and qualified for field reconnaissance can go ahead and deploy. Recon assets should probably first deploy from orbit at night, land, and scrounge up some intel to report back to the General in the morning. Recon people can either team up and deploy together, set up their own team of NPCs and go with them or just insert alone.

Rusal, looks good, I guess we can just set up a side RP between me and you where you can help me as far as fleshing out the OPFOR goes unless we get another person who's interested in joining the enemy side.

As far as "official" characters go, I don't remember seeing anything that stood out among the Infantry types go that would make me decline them. I'll go through the mech characters Tuesday and accept (or decline) them sometime during the day.
General Vicente Rinehart was a simple man, a man who often called it as it was, a man who liked to see the world in black and white. But by no means was General Rinehart an uneducated man. He had gone through the West Point at the top of his class, he understood everything from advanced mathematics to human psychology and he hadn't become the commanding officer of Task Force Aegis by his good looks alone. So from within the command center of the military space station Independence, surrounded by dozens of computers and members of his headquarters staff, he was understood what it meant when reports of a sudden Polish uprising detailed rebel forces operating what was clearly Russian-supplied mechs, albeit outdated ones, began to stream in. And understandably, Rinehart was upset.

"Those motherfuckers," Vicente Rinehart squinted his eyes at one of the screens that played a video of Polish rebels crushing loyalist forces from the Varsovian Armoured Brigade, "They've done it now!" He then growled before grabbing a hold of a passing desk jockey, "Bring everyone up to speed, get them ready to deploy. I wanted to have boots on the ground yesterday."

"Everyone s-sir?" The soldier, a First Lieutenant from the United States Air Force, gulped.

"Everyone!" The General bellowed before throwing the man aside. Moments later, while the announcement was broadcasted through the station intercom for Task Force Aegis to scramble and make preparations to deploy, a Polish field operative was displayed on one of the command center's monitors. The operative, a member of the elite Operational Maneuver Response Group (GROM), updated Rinehart on the current state of affairs.

"They took us totally by surprise, General. More than a few high ranking members of our military just defected to the other side, taking with them plenty of good men. What's left of the loyalist forces are either pulling back towards the west or are regrouping at the capital, myself included. But General I've seen these mechs in action. We don't stand a chance unless NATO-" The operative, before he could finish his sentence, was cut off by Rinehart.

"NATO's still 'accessing' the situation, son. How long will your people be able to hold out at Warsaw?" Task Force Aegis' commander grunted.

"Not long, sir." The operator replied.

"Understood. I'll get back to you." The General nodded to one of his people and ended the conversation with the man. Once this was done, Rinehart weighed in his options, eventually deciding that before anything he needed eyes on the situation. Local assets in the area weren't equipped to transmit encoded messages back to the station, nor had they been able to give him any solid intelligence to act on. How many forces would NATO be fighting against if they sent in the troops? How well equipped were they? Were they all professional soldiers who had deserted from the Army or were there some militia assisting the rebel army? And who was to say the rebels consisted only of Polish separatists? Who's to say that there weren't some Russians or Iranians in the mix? To get a better grip on the full picture, and to start laying the foundation of any operation that would include the deployment of the Task Force, General Rinehart pulled aside another member of his headquarters staff.

"Gather up some recon specialists, and by tomorrow morning, I want them on the ground and getting me some god damn answers."
I think it'd be easier if all the characters were on the same team, and that was what I initially intended, but up to you amigo.

I'm thinking of joining this, but I have two questions.1. Does the character have to have a mech suit?2. Is there any room for sniper characters?

Negative, the character doesn't need a mech suit. And there's always room for another sniper, I suppose.
Sure, sounds good. Especially since nobody else is stepping up as a pilot.
The VTOL dropship will always be armed of course. But if you want to land some ammo for some guys, you're going to have to ditch some of the dropship's weapons to compensate for the added weight.

so could a medium mech have both the cable system AND propulsion system? just curious.

I'll go ahead and approve using both at the same time.
