TFW you realize your SW character somehow turned into an anime character. I didn't even use an anime avatar. Damn you Japan! Freaking brainwashed me.

Right as the paralysis magic that held Ceria in place wore off, she saw the drake dive bomb three of her party and set the entire doorway ablaze along with them. As she saw Ulor fall and Daisy obviously in pain, she caught herself from shouting out "No!" by clapping a hand over her mouth. She didn't want anymore attention drawn to herself than necessary, but she still had a new arrow nocked and struggled with the decision of whether to shoot the dodgy red menace or the priestess who had immobilized her. The decision took quite awhile.

Royal Dining Hall

The lady Jauna sat across from the prince and dug into a skillfully prepared meal of poached eggs and porridge made with the finest sorghum. It was likely her last truly fanciful meal before they went on this march. Technically, she could just stay behind with the others who more actively vied for the prince's hand. However, as she eyed him subtly over the rim of her breakfast mead goblet, she realized that for better or worse a chance to be a part of his development outside the castle was too good to miss. If she missed an opportunity to help make him a better king for his people, then she would be remiss for the rest of her life. She finished her breakfast in a ladylike fashion and watched with a smirk as the rest of their party began to get all hoity toity and restless for the journey to begin.

Jauna liked how Gorou played that, but had had no fear of her reputation being besmirched. To her burgeoning social eye, he seemed reasonably well-groomed and polite for someone of seemingly common roots. She'd offered him her hand more as a peace treaty to bridge the gap of her ignorance of his particular sect. The castle's etiquette teachers ought to have been proud of her; though no doubt if any had witnessed it, there would have been something she hadn't done exactly to standard. He seemed to expect more haughty behavior from her, so she merely replied, "Well then, I'm sure there will be more time to speak at length" in a decidedly prim tone.

Still, despite the quasi-flirtatious conversation, Jauna found herself sidling closer to the prince. What did the wyvern rider have to say that was intriguing him so deeply? Thankfully, one glance in her direction was - she was exceedingly pleased to note - all it took to get him back on track. Unfortunately that glance's smile was infuriatingly purely platonic.

His invitation for everyone to follow him for breakfast was unprecedentedly casual and Jauna approved. Although she was used to formal invitations days, weeks and months in advance from everything, she liked Eli's spontaneity and hoped he never lost it as she veritably bounced on his heels. She tried very hard not to jog or skip, but it wasn't entirely possible since her shoes were flats for once and she ended up following him at a half-trot that would likely give her etiquette teachers coronaries if they ever found out.
The mass tags are confusing me with so many people. To be honest, I wasn't expecting quite as chaotic a turnout lol. Am trying to keep up with reading every word, but to be honest, I'm probably going to be skimming if this schedule keeps up. This means I'll likely miss more fine details, but I'll do my best to keep calm. :)

Jauna was taken aback by the man's sudden interest. "Good morning sir!" Jauna replied automatically, lifting her chin a bit and not curtsying to a man she didn't know the credentials of as the court etiquette for a noble lady dictated. "Ki-kee-keemono? Oh that's what this is called! You can call me Jauna. I've been basically raised here in the castle. I apologize, but I am afraid I don't know as much as I would like to about your clans' histories or anything specific about this kee-mono. Perhaps you can tell me more of your land on the journey?" She deigned to flash him a small smile and then, after a moment's hesitation, the smallest of curtsies to match his smallest of bows. Oh what the hell, she thought glumly. I'm sixteen and if Eli is too stubborn to acknowledge our age, then maybe it's time to make him a little bit jealous. As she had been saying this, she offered the stranger her hand, palm down and inward; careful to keep her gaze empty of any telling emotions. It was difficult, attempting to adhere to the court protocol that had been instilled into her here by the ladies-in-waiting who taught such things.

She had to admit, it was nice being noticed by someone for a change even if it was by, for all intents and purposes, a foreigner. It was embarrassing to not know hardly anything of the Hoshido and other cultures other than in passing, but that's what she got for romping around the castle with Eli rather than attend history lessons.
So despite my charrie being a lil white girl, there's nothing wrong with her wearing the kimono? It was just the first fancy article of clothing that popped into my head. I'll roll with it. I'm just making sure I didn't screw the pooch on something lore-wise. :)
THE kimono? Pardon my FE ignorance, but are kimonos rare here? I was just trying to be fashionable to the point that Google Images could back me up. O_O

The bright morning sun slanted through the castle window to hit Jauna's pale, almond-shaped face smack in the center. A bright blue sparrow with a white belly chirped loudly outside that window from its perch on the stone sill. The sound finally moved the sixteen-year-old to sleepily open her eyes, then immediately flinch at the harsh sunlight. Oh crap, the prince is leaving today. I don't want to be late! The thought flooded in and she slid off the bed a heartbeat later in her rosy pink nightclothes.

Ambling over to the full length mirror in the small but moderately opulent room that was her own, Jauna Karystane was forced to spend the next five to ten minutes brushing and unsnarling her fantastical crimson bedhead. Each strand seemed like a miniature fiery snake that fought her and practically hissed with each stroke. For the umpteenth time, she considered cutting it but couldn't bear to part with the locks.

Upon completing her morning ablutions at the wash basin in the corner, she dressed in a loose-fitting, comfortable red kimono with a floral vine-like pattern. On her feet went even more comfortable traveling moccasins. She was thankful that heels weren't required while traveling, though hopefully they would not have to walk. At the door to her chambers, she regarded the black-bladed hand-and-a-half sword with the round blue sapphire embedded in its hilt. The sword, her father's sword, always conjured up memories whenever she looked at it, the few happy ones from when she was small were always far outshadowed by the announcement of her knightly father's death at King Estali's side in Blackwater.

With no more than a moment's hesitation, the noble young lady grabbed a decorative pink silk sash from the hook on her door and tied it around her waste. She hooked the sword in its plain tan leather scabbard onto the belt and headed down next to the library where she had been told the night before to meet for their departure. Upon her arrival, Prince Eli waved at her. Wow he must be in a good mood today, she thought absently as she grinned back at him, his excitement mirrored on her own face.

She inventoried herself to make sure she had everything she wished to bring. Though she had no handmaidens or servants like a member of the royal family did, it was just as well since aside from a basic ladies' wardrobe, she didn't need anything for herself aside from her father's sword and a belt to carry it on. She wasn't entirely as vain as the other girls in the castle, Layla, Hessie, and Caroline to name but few. No doubt if they had been traveling with the prince's party, they would have demanded one or more huge trunks. Jauna chuckled to herself at the thought, then quickly stifled it as she spied the prince exiting the library and speaking to Rhea, a wyvern rider who Jauna had always envied the confidence, responsibilities, and body of. Truth be told, she was pretty sure Rhea was older than both she and the prince, but that hadn't stopped Jauna from wanting to tag along with the prince on his first real adventure outside the castle lest he suddenly get the notion to have a dalliance with some older, experienced maid.

Try as she might, Jauna could not quite completely dismiss that thought as, despite wyvern riders being a bit too...militaristic for the court ladies' tastes, that didn't mean they weren't still desirable physically. Feigning indifference, she couldn't help herself from running a casual glance up and down the larger woman's gleaming armor and feeling multiple twinges of jealousy in her gut. Jauna fervently hoped that she might get her own horse on their ride out of the castle and that the wyvern rider stayed far up in the skies for now. Or better yet, get to ride double with a hunky guard. Then again, she could just ride double with Eli and listen and nod and smile as he prattled on for hours about his latest magical tome research. Or they could all be crammed up in a carriage. She was surprised by how ill-informed she was of the transportation provided on this little exposé.
