I'm still really flattered by the fact that you're all interested in this! It would be great if you wanted to sign up regardless of your writing level. I can't promise you'll be accepted, but it doesn't hurt to try! :)

Also, I plan to have an OOC up soon, in which I may tweak some things.

Fair enough, LOL

I'm a bit late, but welcome! I'm relatively new to this site, too, and I think it's great in terms of its variety; there are role-plays for all kinds, and this site really exemplifies that. It's pretty awesome.

Are we just going in circles?

Whoa, this sounds cool. Aside from burning in the daylight as per most vampiric mythos, is there anything you've changed, or anything else that players should be aware of in terms of the strength and abilities of vampires themselves? This seems set in a Medieval 'verse, right? Is there magic at all?

Thanks for the interest! There is going to be a lot of vampire lore that I will delve into in the OOC, but the lore will describe their background rather than change their physiology. Vampires are much stronger than humans and have better senses (vision, hearing, and smell in particular). They do need to drink human blood to survive and will burn in the daylight.

This is set in a Victorian universe, so there is more advancement in terms of medicine and technology than the medieval ages, but of course there is no advanced weaponry or anything. Guns exist. Magic does exist, but it's extremely rare -- think of magic-wielders as 1 in a million. (The blood necklace the vampires are searching for is magical, so magic does exist, but again, real magic users are few and far between.)
Nightfall

Introduction

At seven in the evening, darkness falls over the city of Farghis. The villagers scurry into their wooden homes, lock their flimsy doors, and hurriedly blow out their candles. It is as if they live a one-act play; as soon as the sun sets, the curtain closes and the actors turn their heads and wait for their next performance. Even from miles away, you can feel their tremors, their heightened heartbeats. You imagine how scared they must be, and for a moment you almost feel alive.

It is here that you will find your salvation. For eons, your brethren have shied away from human villages and hidden from the sun, ostracized and forced to live in the shadows of civilization. You understand why they’ve kept themselves away. Even a glimpse of daylight would burn you all to crisps, and after centuries of pretending your kin didn’t exist, the humans are only now becoming reacquainted with your existence. You wouldn’t have come here, either, if it hadn’t been for Lord Grisov and the legend he promised would become reality.

After this is over, you need not worry about sunlight or burning any longer. You will be free. Once you find the blood necklace, you need only one sacrifice and the world gets plunged into darkness.

Premise

Nightfall is a Victorian gothic vampire role-play set in an original fantasy universe. Lord Grisov has sent a group of about 500 vampires to invade the neighboring human city of Farghis in search of the legendary blood necklace. According to legend, the blood necklace has the ability to eclipse the sun and bring eternal darkness to the continent of Raedast. When an infection formed the very first vampires a millenia ago, vampires and humans were able to co-exist for a while. Some border conflicts drove them to war, and vampires were pushed to Raedast's eastern Wilderness. Slowly but surely, humans began to rewrite history.

Now, a long time after the original vampires were created, they have become a dark blotch in human mythos. Most humans don't believe in their existence as anything other than fascinating nightmares; however, the inhabitants of Farghis think differently. Due to their proximity to vampire territory, every so often a human goes missing or is found dead of blood loss. "Wolf attack" is the most common death in Farghis according to the district magistrate, but most people in Farghis know better. Dozens of people have already formed anti-vampire coalitions, calling themselves Hunters and vowing to protect the city from future vampire attacks.

Recently, the attacks have grown in number and in ferocity. Several humans have been found with their heads brutally ripped off, and other bodies were so mangled that they were unidentifiable. Under the leadership of Lord Grisov, a high-ranking member of the vampire aristocracy, vampires have grown more aggressive and blatant in their feedings. This is all just a prelude to the main event; Grisov plans to lead an all-out invasion into human lands in order to find the blood necklace, rumored to be found buried deep within the catacombs of Farghis.

You play either as one of the vampires or a human hunter in the very beginning of the invasion. The vampires have been preparing for months now, and many humans have taken precautionary measures, arming themselves and their houses to prevent becoming the vampires' next victims. The atmosphere in Farghis is thick with fear and tension.
