I could hear the wind picking up behind me. Whatever wind tricks they're doing, I wasn't about to be caught by them. I quickly dived to the side as I heard the wind howling loudly behind me. I could see the wind blowing grass and leaves around, it turned back towards me. "Nn... I won't let it catch me...!" I quickly began running again, making a right this time. "Think, Joe, think! They're pretending that magic is real. So... maybe they're operating under game logic. So, once that "spell" hits something, it should disperse. So it's going to have to be something large... thankfully I'm surrounded by trees, so I just need it to hit a tree, and I'm home free."

I began weaving my way around trees, the "spell" just barely missed each one... then I came across a rather large weeping willow. "Perfect!" I had noticed that the further that I got away from the group, the less strong the wind became, which, made sense, the "spell" has to act under some parameters. Meaning that this one has to be within range of the "caster". Probably meaning that annoying cat girl. I quickly ran around the tree, something that I had noticed about the "spell" was that it seemed to have a slow turn radius,I just need to get directly across from it, or at least close enough for the "spell" to break against the tree.

I kept running for... well... I don't really know how long, it wasn't too long, but... finally I heard the wind die. The spell must have finally broken against the tree. I panted and slowed to a walk, clutching my side, it felt like someone had dug a cleaver into it. I began walking away from where I believed the group was. I mean, I was able to recognize the path I had just ran down... I kept walking for a while before I finally fell to my knees in a clearing, panting and gasping for breath. "G-God damn, I'm out of shape..."
I turned around quickly only to be met with that ghastly visage. "W-What the hell...!? S-Sir y-you're injured, w-we need to get some help." Something felt off about him. That noise he made, it sent chills down my spine. I instinctively got out of the way before he grabbed me, stepping around him quickly, I didn't know if he was trying to use me as support, or trying to attack me. I put my hand in my pocket and wrapped it around my pocket knife.
I took a deep breath, picked up the backpack, upended it, and tried to shake the water out as best as I could. Once I was somewhat satisfied, I placed the book inside and zipped it up. I slung it around my back and looked off toward the church where I had seen the shadow. "There's someone here... hopefully they can help me." I walked through the gate and up to the church. I was never that religious, while my parents were Christian, we didn't really go to church that often, I never read the bible or anything... in fact, I'm pretty sure that a lot of Christians would call me a sinner and say that I deserve to go to hell. Not that it mattered.

I took a deep breath, then opened the door and peered within. I hoped that the church would be filled with people that had no idea what was going on only a few hundred feet away, that they'd take pity upon me and help me on my way home.
I tried to run, but I was stopped by some kind of wall. It wasn't exactly solid... It just seemed to push me backwards, quite forcefully, I might add. It seemed like it was the wind itself blowing me back... Oh well. I wasn't going to be stopped. I quickly turned left and continued running. That's when I noticed some sort of light was behind me. It must've been some kind of trick. I wasn't going to stop and look however... I just kept running, trying to get away... however, a strange light seemed to pierce me. It didn't hurt or anything... but something did feel... off.

As I ran, I was suddenly yanked backwards, and fell flat on my ass. I looked backwards and checked my body for something that would hold me back... yet there wasn't anything. Nothing was holding me back, however, I kept being tugged further and further back. Back toward that group. That man, he did something to me. Anger began to boil within me. I got to my feet, turned around, and began running back toward the group.

Parell's helmet... it's usual golden sheen was replaced by a silver aura. As I approached, that silver glow got brighter and brighter until it was nearly blinding. If I hadn't been driven to this level of anger, my calm and collected side would have surely told me that punching someone wearing a helmet would have done nothing but hurt my own hand, maybe even break it. My more rational side would have questioned why his helmet was glowing. However, I wasn't thinking clearly... how dare this man do something to me...? How dare he make decisions on my behalf...? How dare he force me to stay here...!?

I ran up behind him and swung wildly. Instead of my fist connecting with metal... it connected with flesh. That moment... the silver aura faded. It was finally visible what had happened. There was a large hole in the helmet where my fist had connected with the back of his head. The helmet was cracked all over, almost looking like a spiderweb. The punch itself... was below average, losing much of its power behind the sloppy way I had thrown it. That strange feeling I felt was now gone... my anger subsided, only to be filled with bewilderment and fear. How... did I do that...? His armor was definitely metal, I felt it, I didn't even make a dent, it wasn't cheap stuff... is it another trick...? But why resort to something like this...? Surely, now that I've attacked him, and actually did some kind of damage, he'll really want to kill me.

I backed away and tried to hide my emotions. "A-Ah, if any of you try and stop me... I'll do the same to you that I did to his helmet, got it? Just be thankful that I was feeling merciful!" I was panting... I could feel the stitch in my side... it felt horrible. But, now I really needed to get away. I could worry about the pain and exhaustion later. These people, whether or not they're actually killers... will probably want me dead now. I turned and began running away from the group, hopefully for the last time.

"Civilization... hopefully this'll be over soon..." Though... I had the feeling that this was far from over. I saw the backpack and walked over to it. "Looks like someone just abandoned it... this could protect the book from getting wet. Hopefully no one'll miss this." I opened the backpack to check out its contents and see if there was something useful inside.
I walked out from the cave and cautiously approached the light, staying close to the natural wall, not wanting to get too close to the edge of the cliff. The heavy rain and winds may have loosened the ground, and I could go barreling several hundred feet below to the ocean, which may or may not be shallow and filled with rocks... Plus, I haven't ever really been able to deal with heights.

As soon as I reached the trees, I stuck close to them and continued approaching the source of the light, trying my best to keep my body hidden behind the trees in the event it was the vehicle of my captors. I wouldn't want to get out just to immediately be caught once again...
"This book's in a completely different language, I'd need a computer to try and even begin deciphering this thing, and even then, I'm sure that the translation would be very shoddy... but... maybe I should keep this book with me. I mean... old school horror game logic, if it seems important, you should take it for a puzzle later, and it'd suck to backtrack all the way back here to get it later." I took a deep breath and held the book to my chest, approaching the cave's entrance once more. I poked my head out into the rain and looked off towards the left, where the light was coming from.
The free roleplay section is being overrun with bots! Halp! *Is drowning in spam threads* *Blurble* XD
"Then next time you see me, kill me, simple, no?" I glared at the man. "If you've forgotten already, I did try to kill you. Tried pretty hard too. Furthermore, I've said this before and I'll say it again. There's no such thing as magic, you deluded little man. Now, I'm going to leave. Goodbye."

I turned to back to the woman. "Make it more gratifying once you've gained my trust just to turn around, betray me, and then kill me. I would assume, I mean, you're the ones that filled a lake with blood and dead bodies, not me. Also, try making me stay here, I'll just make a huge scene and attract anything that's in this place! I'm leaving, that's the end of the conversation." If she did in fact care about being found by whatever imaginary enemies were lurking around here, me shouting my head off would be rather detrimental to that goal. I turned around and began running again, the pain in my side was still present, but I'd rather deal with that and make it worse than to be around these people any longer.
I stopped and then turned to face the cat... well... I was at least expecting it to be the cat. It was instead a woman with cat ears. I'm... not going to question anything anymore. What's the point? "...Just leave me alone. Even if what you're saying is true, I'm pretty worthless. Where I'm from I just work at a book store and go to college. I'm not an amazing athlete, I'm probably weaker, slower, and more easily fatigued than most people. I don't know how to fight. If anything I'd be a liability and would slow you all down in the long run." I put my hands in my pockets and looked off to the side.

"Plus, if I'm right, then you're all a bunch of killers." I fixed her with a cold glare. "I've accepted that all of this isn't a dream. So either this is all a very elaborate trick, or I've been slipped hallucinogenic drugs. If I were to go with you, I would be playing right into your hands. Then, I'm dead and go right into the lake. So I'd rather take my chances on my own. But, to be on the safe side, I'll be of course avoiding any tricks or hallucinations that I see or hear. So you can go now, I won't be going with you."
