"Yes ... Stop wasting, my time!" Grimlock growled from behind his shield. While he wasn't fond of Starscream, he wasn't about to say no to the worm's help, and there was not much he could do to stop the seeker anyways. Let Starscream go about his shenanigans, he could always put the Decepticon back in his place.

Choosing to wait for the insect to make the first move, he began to size up it's weapons. While tiny, they seemed to be sharp enough to harm him. It'd be wise to keep behind his shield for now, at least for as long as he couldn't use his sword.

As Starscream completed the turn, he flew another pass over Grimlock. This time, he only sent a couple missiles at the giant. However, he also sent something he didn't last time. A small, blue-ish, glowing cube landed feet away from Grimlock. Energon, the lifeblood of the Transformers. That should patch the freak up.

After finishing the second strafe, Starscream began to ascend in order to get above the skyscrapers. Once there, he'd maneuver himself to start yet another run on the street below. He was already tracking the one remaining near Grimlock, but he'd lost the second one. Scanning the surrounding area for it, he still wasn't able to locate it. That bothered him immensely, seeing as how it could be activating some sort of air defense.

I have also seemed to have forgotten to give Grimlock and Starscream over shields ... They're not OP or anything, they just block the first few hits (if they're strong attacks) from damaging the body. They need to stop taking fire to recharge them.

That's not Starscream because it succeeded too quickly. More obviousness is needed. More failure. More cowbell.

Actually your second view on Dark Energon seems like more sense to me. Attempts to corrupt, detects a valid host, then symbiosis.
