Current In the beginning were the Words, and the Words made the world. I am the Words. The Words are everything. Where the Words end the world ends. You cannot go forward in an absence of space. Repeat.

Call me Ginger!

Future veterinarian, presently irreverently funny self-deprecator and literature hobbyist.
Casual-advanced. 1x1 and Group RP, no preference.
Up to make mischief, make memories, and make a fool of myself.
And maybe roleplay a little on the side. :)
Dating @Mateotis who is much more active than I am here, but also decidedly a much more gifted writer/poet. Hound him if you're looking for me.
A little sickly and evidently severely lacking in impulse-control, so patience is appreciated in general.

I'll remain forever royal,
I'll repay my parents' debt.
Duty means doing the things your heart may well regret.

Name: Shou Matsuoka (Mr. Matsuoka to his students, but he really doesn't mind Shou)

Age: 29

Appearance:
(Credits to the original artist)
Has a piercing on his left ear on which he swaps between tiny spike or silver ring earrings. Dark circles aren't unfamiliar to his otherwise pale features, and his eyes are a clear, light, chocolate-brown colour which contrasts heavily with his (dyed) silver hair. In his youth, he used to have a select number of streaks in the mess of his locks that he dyed different colours once every two months. Though you can see a cigarette sticking out of his mouth when he isn't at school, it's replaced for a lollipop when he's on the job. Though oddly enough, it's difficult to tell from far away what it might really be...

Height: 6'2" / 188cm

Weight: 177lbs / 80.5kg

Likes: Fresh fruit, discussion and debate, thought-provoking material, philosophy, the sounds of the steelpan, the saxophone and the violin (and even the harmonica on occasion!), oddballs, big dogs, breathtaking natural green scenery, lighting candles, aromatherapy, the colour blue, dressing classy, reading and writing fine literature, art, PC-gaming, white and milk chocolate, lollipops and gummy-bears, blue orchids.

Dislikes: Liquorice, dark chocolate, small spaces, papaya, grading papers, his age and authority questioned, late students, the cold, spicy food, beetles, when people try to get him to dance, when things stop working.

Party Trick: Can, pitch-perfect and usually very loudly, whistle any requested song (that he knows).

Profession: Professor at the Shine City Academy (Department of Biology)

Bio/Personality:
Shou grew up in classy Shine City itself as the younger of two sons, so it's hard to find a place or trick or turn within it that the young gentleman doesn't know. Though, admittedly, he only came to learn of more of the city in his later years, having been homeschooled as a child and so finishing his education a couple of years early (due to missing out so many much-coveted summers). He landed his professor job through a mixture of sheer luck, his personal smarts and three rather interesting published works on the behavioural study of animals in captivity. This has led to him being a bit of an eccentric man, though he enjoys his fair share of parties as well, accompanied by a new experimental mixed-drink each time if not for a classic favourite of his: A glass of burgundy wine, for his more mature palette.

He spends his days teaching at the Shine City academy, hoping to inspire his students (though he has to admit again, most of them don't seem quite as much as interested in his lectures) to greatness someday. His young age is often a cause for playful kidding around by the older members of staff, though also gets him a lot of belittling remarks and unsatisfied glances from time to time. He claims he's just as much a student as anyone else, learning from his seniors whenever he can on their respective areas of expertise, and from his juniors on areas such as 'socialisation in the younger-crowds'.
He owns two dogs, a young Jack Russell Terrier called Jinxie and a larger Border Collie/German Shepherd mix called Romeo. Seeing as he lives by himself in a rather comfortable little house just far enough from the bustling city center to have an open yard, the two dogs get on well and don't get bored or lonely too often (special thanks to the dogs of the lovely old woman who lives next door!)

Shou himself is slightly introverted, preferring to be approached rather than approaching someone, though he has no problem doing the latter. He hardly ever is mentioned to say "he's bored", being a strong believer in finding entertainment in whatever one does. He is compassionate towards animals and, oddly enough, plants as well, having a well-tended garden set up in his backyard. He also possesses intensive knowledge on herbal remedies his mother taught both boys, Shou and Yuusha, when they were young. Being described as 'eccentric' due to his often chuckling at the most inappropriate moments, or his somewhat morbid love for setting things alight, or even his irritability on Thursday evenings when the weekend is so close, yet so far, he garters the positive attentions and affections of many others, particularly the schoolgirls at the academy impressed with just how young he is.
Or maybe they're just taken by his looks.
Shamelessly admitting to cringing at half of what @AuntFlavia mentioned and staring in both wonder and awe at the other half. <<
Anime is a guilty pleasure, but mostly it has a lot more to do with the actual storyline and not the anime characters uguu desu desu. Unless it's for gits and shiggles. And then it's totally okay to go ALL OUT OTAKU DEEEESUUUUUUU
Had my eye on this. The Phoenix Wright academy theme has encouraged me to maybe, just just just just just maybe, make a professor character.
I don't quite know what he'll be like though, hm.
@Silver Carrot

Aw pish posh, darlin'. :)
...really, 'advanced' has such a stigma attached to it, but it's totally understandable. I was always really afraid of it myself, but I'm trying to come out of my casual safe happy zone bit by bit.
...so I promise I won't be anyone to judge, this only is my second advanced group RP x.X
Besides. Usually, your first choice/idea with some build up is best! (I'd say - and many of my previous multiple choice exams in school can attest to that) so don't you fret.

@Darcs @Shohmyoh

Personally, I don't mind waiting till everyone has their character in, because it most probably won't affect how done rather, lack of done I am, concerning ideas for first post, etc. :)
Your call though, Myoh. Or...Shoh. Really, I'm not sure...
@VarionusNW

That was great!
Now try it in iambic pentameter!
WE'RE ROOTING FOR YA, JIGERMEISTER.

EDIT: I swear to god, I only understand...um. Maybe 30% of what Mrs Overall says, without actively paying attention to deciphering her English words.
"Ah, like I said, your father did sound a strange man. Though I would appreciate dearly should you put in the offer." she gave Rivaled a satisfied smile, before catching herself sounding far more eager than she should have, "...that is, if I even am able to request that, and father knows you that well!" she slapped on the end, to appear less yielding more than anything else.

The red colour of his face at her casually tossed compliment made her smirk over at him in response, even making her stifle a little chuckle. Oh, how Rivalen did so make her laugh! His reactions, though unexpected, were priceless. And though she knew she should have dropped the topic, she left him a final, conclusive statement.
"It must be your proud mother, then, who raised such a charming young man for a son."

"Being so close to a wizard and they didn't manage to successfully execute you? Yet another feat of many I'm coming to hear about." she tossed her head back at the remark, shaking it disdainfully especially at hearing how this wizard ended up going rogue.
To be expected, of course.
"...I'm glad you were able to learn to read and write from him, though, and able to pass it on to your father. They are priceless skills in this day and age, but I don't know if they're worth the danger that you would have put yourself int-"
Was she actually...worrying about him?

She found her own face heating up when the distance between them was closed, her green eyes never leaving his as he got off the stool and walked towards her, and once he was so close, they refused to focus on his dark brown orbs again. They frantically darted wherever, and she subconsciously cradled the books closer to her chest, though let up when he reached to take them from her. And then, only then, when the books were out of her hands and balanced in the crook of his arm, did she dare to look up at him again.

He stood so close, his warmth was almost tangible.
Or maybe, it had been before as well. Did she not realise it then?
It lingered for a fleeting moment, her heartbeat kicking again in such an alien way.
It almost reminded her of...
No.
She wrote it off as some innate response of the human body, especially when near somebody of the opposite gender. And she continued to write it off to herself with flushed cheeks as just that as the man, skill as he did possess, took her books in one arm and held the door open with the other in a way that made it seem almost effortless. Roxanne however knew the books and door both were heavier than they looked, and couldn't help but stand for just a second, in her thoughts, to admire Rivalen's innovativeness, his consideration and his raw ability.

She didn't realise she was standing there, blankly smiling in the general direction of the doorway until he spoke again for her to pass, which snapped her back into place though evidently dazed for a couple of lingering seconds longer, "Ah! Ah, yes, Rivalen. V-very good, yes."
Coughing a little under her breath and straightening out the non-existent creases that had so suddenly appeared on the skirt of the blue gown, she stepped to the doorway herself, offering him a well-deserved bow of her head in gratitude before stepping past the doors and into the corridor again. Perhaps she didn't realise she was ever so subtly biting her bottom lip when she flashed him a half-smile without fully turning her face.
"Clever, knocking two birds with one stone, Rivalen. I'm impressed. If this eagerness does continue, something tells me it will be a wonderful relationship we shall share, as princess and personal attendant."
She caught herself, and before sounding any more haughty:
"Err. What I mean to say is. Thank you. Yes, thank you very much."

The walk to the library might have been long, but to Roxanne it passed like a breeze. She didn't remember the exact contents of what conversation she had with Rivalen, though she did remember the excited skip in her own step as she did speak to him, ever curious to learn more, though he disclosed only a little at a time. Their exchanges seemed fortunately natural. Unforced in most ways, though pauses did come between them in which she'd bite her lip again and try to think of something new to say, something new to ask, and sometimes just let the quiet moments drag on.
It was quieter naturally around the kingdom at this hour, though anyone who spotted them had settled into a customary bow to her - and more surprisingly Rivalen too - and a respectful smile. News of him being her personal attendant must have spread fast in the past few hours if numbers fell from practically everyone and their dog asking about his purpose to the occasional one, or odd glance accompanied by silence.

Thankfully, Rivalen and one increasingly giddy Roxanne arrived at the room on the bottom floor with the tall, tall double doors that stretched up high, decorated with intricate carvings and even precious-metal-work and old semiprecious stones embedded into the door in some places. The handles were decorated oddly like knockers, little lion heads where they came out of the door from. They almost begged Roxanne to take them, and turn them downward.

With a little pause for dramatic effect and a grin just as infectious as before, she threw open the doors to the library.
The room seemed like something out of another world.
The windows had arched tops and were tall as well, with the ceiling of the library climbing even higher than Roxanne's room's.
Among the glass panes were some sections done in stained glass through which the afternoon sunlight poured, creating beautiful kaleidoscopic patterns on the rugs spread under the only open area dedicated to tables and chairs. The rest of the room was filled with shelves upon shelves of literature, and a ladder to navigate to the very tops of some of the shelves. The books sat dusty in some places, freshly replaced in some, and two or three people could be found at one of the six large tables present, poring over literature of their choice. They appeared to be older men and women, though.

"This..." Roxanne turned proudly back to Rivalen, and though it was as unladylike as ever, she couldn't resist the urge to toss her head back and put a hand on her hip as she assessed the inside of the library, "...is the library. Isn't it just grand? Oh, you simply must tell me your favourite kind of literature, to start with! Or...no, we should return these. We probably should, but I'd like to know, just the same!"

Dio

Approximate Age Range: Late 30s

Gender: Male

Appearance: Dio is a man age is now beginning to catch up with. He stands at 6'1" with a posture that's evidently imperfect, his upper body leaning forward as if from a result of bending forward for long periods of time. His hair is short, far from straight and a dark brown, nearly black, colour that comes away as white at some of the roots. His arms are a slightly darker shade of tan than his face and his neck, and the natural colour to his skin betrays his Latin American roots along with his hardened, dusky hazel gaze. His facial hair is well kept though in the same salt-and-pepper state as the hair on his head.
His presence can be described as smart, encompassing and authoritative on first glance.

Attire: He seems to be wearing what can be classed as a moderately expensive black suit jacket and trousers atop a crisp white shirt. At his wrists, along with a proud, if slightly worn, Rolex on his right one, glitter small, silver cufflinks of a particular logo you can almost place, before realising it's a stylised caduceus. He wears two rings - and two rings only - one of them being a simple silver wedding band on his left ring finger (the skin underneath it is at least two shades lighter than the rest of his hand's and arms) and another ring on his right middle finger that's by comparison more delicate but houses a topaz that glows warm and orange like honey, or the sun.
Under the dark brown leather of his belt, pockets show the outlines of some typical belongings, a modern enough touch-phone, car-keys, a wallet, some coins in change.
The inside pockets on his suit jacket hold more ambiguous looking, solid items. The arm of a pair of sunglasses can be seen poking out from the top.
He wears formal shoes in the same shade of brown as his belt and his tie is loosened as it hangs around his neck.

If you met this person on the street and didn’t know them, what would be your first impression of them?
You would assume Dio to be a businessmen like them all, dressed slick and ready to talk anybody into anything. Or you might think he was some hotshot in a company, flaunting their wealth above the others'. On further inspection, his eyes and mannerisms would betray a more serious man, with a deep voice like silk from the big-screens carrying forward his words, though with the definite hints of a hispanic accent as well as the address "señor" or "señorita".
He looks to be a man who can hold his own in a fist fight, and might be more than big talk. If he did talk big, that is.
I...you'd be surprised, I actually have never seen a single episode of JoJo, though I've had some friends pester me about it before. I told them the overwhelming masculinity made it too hilarious to ever be taken seriously for me xD
But I hear Dio is a character from that, so that's nice.
The taking of the name for me was based on a particularly lovely character from a game called Virtue's Last Reward. :)
Moving!

EDIT: @corneredbliss Oh, I'm shaking in my boots already :')
But at the very same time, I'm looking forward to it too.
//sunglasses
Señorita.

EDIT EDIT: I am also super super super excited now to see everyone else's characters :D
I thought I could last that intro without so much as chuckling, before I clicked on the link Flavia sent.

And then "Cheesy 80s synthesiser music" came up on screen and I lost it xD

God, all these shows you Americans and even the English watch...
