Mysaren looked at all the messages rather impatiently, sighing. More thralls, something something, blah blah. She reloaded her pistol and headed towards Blake, chewing absently on her lip as she thought.

Her body was tense as she got prepared for the battle, mentally and physically. The chemicals pumping through her helped slightly, but she was still ready to kill. She had the urge to crack her knuckles, but, sadly, the replacements didn't allow for things like that, so she cracked her neck instead. Little things like that that kept her human.

Well, at least, they made her feel human. She wasn't human anymore, she accepted that as soon as she woke up with half of her damn body replaced with metal and wires. Cold, calculating, things that humans shouldn't be.

She shook her head, starting to take deep breaths. She wasn't going to have another existential crisis, not now. Mysaren couldn't afford to panic, couldn't afford to let her guard down. Lives were on the line, and being human was a disadvantage as far as she was concerned. They didn't treat humans like humans half of the time, so why should she act like one?

She sent a quick message.

On my way. It's showtime.

Bio: Born in Colmar, France on January 7th, 2005, she grew up there, with her mom, her dad, and her older brother, Renard. It was 2020 when her and her family decided to take a vacation to New York for New Years, where her father and brother were killed as soon as the clock struck midnight. Her and her mother hid in Colmar for the majority of the war. When she was 17, she could finally afford the treatment coming from ParaCom's splice soldier program, and with that, doctors were able to change her sex using DNA from the common reed frog. As soon as she turned 18, she enlisted in the military, and became part of the ParaCom project when she was 24. (General gist since this is kinda weirdly written: Born in Colmar, France, designated male at birth, had her father and brother die in the new years attack in 2020, in 2022 had DNA treatment for sex reassignment, joined the military at 18, and was suggested for and joined the paracom project when she was 24.)

Personality: Mysaren is a very introverted person, not really the type for talking or interacting with people. She's incredibly paranoid, making it even harder for her to trust or interact with people that she doesn't know that well. Getting past her social anxiety, she's a very pessimistic person, known for automatically thinking of the worst case scenario, which helps in her strategy, as she is not known to run headfirst into a battle, and instead spends time thinking of the best strategy so she doesn't die a horrible, painful death.
Finally posted. Tell me if I need to change anything.

Mullens is taken care of. The message pinged somewhere in Mysaren's head, a concept she hadn't quite gotten used to yet. She shook her head and kicked the body in front of her aside, one of the hands that was wrapped tightly around her gun twitching. Vendettas weren't good things to have, she knew this, but the thought of anyone else getting hurt because of her was inexcusable.

This was hard for Mysaren, and she was well aware of this. The thought of a vampire being even close to her disgusted her, after she saw what vampires considered cargo. She had the upper hand, though, and those days, however traumatic, were long behind her. Her dark blue eyes still scanned the perimeter warily, any sound making her tense up. This wasn't going to work.

I’ve got the traffic cameras hooked up to facial recognition – if they as much as get near a stoplight, I’ll know about it... Shit, more of Blake's rambling, apparently. Her eyes rolled as she read the message, a glimmer of annoyance on her face. Oh well. At least he did something useful. She sent a message back, quickly, that said,

Thanks, chief. Nice work. Also, please refrain from doing stupid shit and taunting the vampires. Last thing we need is those fuckers to get their feelings hurt.

Short and to the point, Mysaren's favorite kind of message, really. No point in whatever self congratulatory nonsense the other guys did. A loud bang, and Mysaren whatever the hell they put inside of her trying desperately to calm her down. Her gun aimed at the source of the noise, her finger on the trigger. Another thrall, probably.

Whatever or whoever the hell it was, it flew at her in a flurry of movement and sounds, and her cochlear implants made everything seem much louder than it was. She'd have to ask those science guys to turn those down a little at some point. A bang, and there was a dull thump as the body hit the ground. Thrall, apparently. She kicked it idly, and took one of the stakes from her leg compartment, sticking it right into the thrall's heart.

Better safe than sorry. She removed the stake and wiped it on her shirt, scoffing. They did always have a flair for the dramatic, those vampires. At least, when they weren't knocking over trash cans and revealing themselves.

definitely interested :D

Yeah, I was just basing that off the 'good at reading people to persuade/seduce them'. Not the best word for it, probably.

Eh, it's... not too inaccurate, I guess? She's charming when she needs to be. Otherwise she's just a bit of a paranoid douche.
So, we've got a generalist, a psychic, a hacker, a scout/fixer, a charmer/criminal connection, a swordfighter, and apparently a face coming up.

Vampires beware, Team "Who's The Prey Now" is coming soon.

Theres a lot of words to describe Mysaren but Charmer isn't one of them :P
<Snipped quote by Mysaren>

You have no idea the value of human slaves.

But there is also animosity and fun backstories they could have with the players.

My characters backstory involves working for vampires :P Well, it was either that or become human cattle...

Either way, there probably won't be much friendly chat between them.
Alright, well will there be any vampire NPC's to interact with? Talk to? I would be sad if we invest so much into character creation and all we have to work with is each other AND we're all on the same side. So many rp's just spam kill trash for a page or two and no plot ever develops. This one's got a good premise. I'd LOVE some detail on the "bad guys." ...some characters.

It's been established that the vampires think that they're better/mightier than humans, though. I'm assuming they'd have no real interest in interacting with humans, especially humans that are trying to hunt them, unless they gained something from it.
Name: Mysaren Fortier
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Ethnicity/Nationality: Black // French
Physical Description:
Before the augmentation, Mysaren stood about 6'3, at 180 pounds. She's muscular, with a chiseled, prominent jaw, and square face. She keeps her hair in a frohawk, which is generally dyed a light pink, although her hair is naturally black. She has dark blue eyes, dark brown skin, and freckles covering her face and body. After the enhancements, she stands about 2 inches taller, due to her leg enhancements. She also has noticeable cochlear implants in both ears. She stands in a strange manner as well, due to the fact her spine was replaced.

Skillset:
Definitely more street smart than book smart, she knows most of the city by heart, making it much easier for her to move and travel with efficiency. She's well versed in most criminal behaviors, breaking and entering, how to trespass, etc. She knows how to get to where she wants to be with minimal trouble. She also has a wide knowledge about the majority of drugs that are currently on the streets.

She's also very good at reading a person, their tics and behaviors, in order to manipulate (or sometimes seduce) them. She knows a lot about the human mind and how it works, mostly from years of experience. She also knows that everyone comes with a price, and it's not hard for her to figure out how to get people to do what she wants.

She also has many connections to the underworld, whether it be for scrap parts, drugs, weapons, sometimes even blood or sometimes, people.

History
Her parents died when she was 15, leaving her to fend for herself on the streets of France for a long time. She started out as nothing more than a petty thief, breaking into homes and stealing what she could, which involved a lot of trial and error, before she was finally able to get involved in drug dealing, which supplied a lot of her money for a long time.

She worked as a drug dealer until she was 17, when she was approached by an organization of vampires who said they wanted her skills to help them in some smuggling. Unable to say no, she joined their ranks and quickly got to work with them.

She worked in a strange harmony with the vampires for a long time. They provided her with protection, food, money, and she just transported things for them. She was never really aware of what they transported, only delivering cars from one place to another, and occasionally gym bags full of what she assumed was cash or drugs.

It wasn't until one day that a deal gone wrong resulted in her finally opening the back of one of the vans they had given her to see that it was filled with humans, all likely to become nothing more than cattle for the vampires. Devastated, she quickly freed the humans she could and drove off to a remote town, wanting nothing more than to leave her life behind.

A few months later, however, in the dead of night, a group of vampires from the organization found her and broke into her home, leaving her barely alive with one message, “The boss sends his regards.” As a cruel joke, they fixed her up before leaving her on the floor of her apartment, unconscious. Unable to see, hear, move, or even scream, one of her neighbors had called the cops for her, and she later awoke in a hospital, before being approached by the Vigil, who promised her that they would repair her, make her even better, if she joined them.

Having no other choice, and a deep sense of revenge, she accepted.

Psychological Profile:
After the attack, she was left with an extreme sense of paranoia, and is known for constantly being on her guard, for fear of another attack. She was never formally diagnosed with any form of PTSD, although the symptoms are there. She's also become an insomniac, practically never sleeping anymore, besides when she absolutely must. She also tries much too hard to prove herself, and has severe problems with what people think about her, especially what people think of her past. She thinks that a majority of what happened was her fault, and she is scared of people finding out.

Modifications:
  • Communications suite, HUD and neural-computer, all standard issue – Vigil agents are able to text by thinking it among each other on a heavily encrypted wireless network. In fact, the computer works off brain impulses and is easily one of the most sophisticated and useful implants they have; what's more, its capabilities have yet to be fully exploited. The downside of this implant is that it includes a cortex bomb with an anti-tampering device. A captured agent can set it off, destroying the hardware inside, or a signal from control can do the same. This is to prevent the enemy from learning the capabilities of implanted agents.
  • Internal air supply and aerial toxin filter -- this also has the added advantage of making the agent immune to vampire pheromones, as some types of vampires are known to use this to seduce their prey.
  • Blood/liquid toxin filter -- the obvious is at work here -- vampires use their blood as a means of controlling mortals, and this system (and everyone, even non field agents, in the Vigil organization have this implant) screens out one of most subtle weapons a vampire has, rendering them functionally immune to being controlled through ingested blood the way mortal thralls of a vampire might be.
  • Eye augmentation; a HUD showing all sorts of system data, such as the status of implants, as well as allowing for low-light and ultra-sound modes of vision, the latter being thought to be more effective than thermographics when dealing with vampires, who tend to run cold if they haven't fed lately.
  • Cochlear Implants: Giving her the ability to hear a much wider, clearer range of sounds.
  • Spine Implants: Helping her flexibility, and helping her reflexes, due to its attachment to the central nervous system.
  • In her left arm, her fingertips can be removed to reveal a set of lock-picking tools, something she's proud to say she suggested. The tools can be removed as needed. Her hand can also be pulled back to reveal a small semi-automatic gun.
  • In her right, her pointer finger doubles as a flashlight, and her ring finger has a small needle in it, which she can use to inject anything she needs to. In her thumb is a USB drive, so she can download information as it is needed.
  • Both of her legs are slightly taller than her original. She has a variety of compartments hidden in them, where she can store things if she needs to.
  • Various muscular implants, making her stronger, faster, and also increasing her reflexes.

Equipment: (The items already listed are standard issue.)
  • Mimetic Camouflage (Predator) coat, though this is designed to look more like a trenchcoat -- no doubt some project engineer with a penchant for the dramatic, or an interest in fashion design. The coat is actually stylish, which serves a dual purpose as vampires tend to dress stylishly and surround themselves with the stylishly dressed. This allows Vigil agents one more edge. Of course, they call it the Predator Coat. Because the engineers are geeks. (This is a standard issue Vigil item)
  • Modular, caseless assault rifle/carbine. Bullpup, caseless ammunition, synched with existing implants and capable of mounting a variety of accessories including a 25mm grenade launcher whose munitions range from conventional high explosive to nano-guided scattered mines. It also syncs with HUD implants for improved accuracy in a mechanism similar to a bluetooth link. The trigger is electric and the weapon includes a biometric security system; anyone but someone authorized to handle it and it will blow; that is a standard feature on most any weapon the Vigil has in service with its teams. (This is a standard issue Vigil item)
  • A number of electronic accessories, including a PDA tablet and other items to assist in making physical connection with computer equipment. (This is a standard issue Vigil item)
  • Grenades, mostly white phosphorus. The organization has designed a 'grenade' that involves a strobing UV light that damages vampires -- it is known as 'the disco ball'.
  • Several drugs/poisons/tranquilizers that she can put in the ring finger of her right hand.
  • A small pistol.
