Biographical writeup:
Carolyn was born into a life of wealth and privilege. Her doting father had been a successful businessman and with the rise of the stock market his fortune expanded exponentially. Throughout her early life Carolyn most liked to play with her brother Grant and his friends as opposed to spending time with her sisters and mother. Even with adolescence Carolyn's wild nature was not calmed. She refused to even consider marriage and her father couldn't bring himself to break her heart, instead agreeing to let her go to university where after graduation she would consider marriage.
Carolyn graduated four years later at the age of 22 with a bachelors in archaeology. Instead of marrying she got her father to use his connections to allow her to work at a dig site. The dig site, located in southern Argentina held clues to an ancient and largely unknown culture. Throughout the dig many workers began to complain of recurring nightmares and hearing unintelligible whispers. Eventually a few workers began to disappear along with a member of the archaeology team. At this point the team started to pack up and leave. Only a few weeks later most of the archaeologists who had worked on the project were complaining about similar symptoms to what the workers had experienced. The leader of the dig eventually killed himself. It was at this point Carolyn decided to investigate further. Convincing her father to lend her some of his resources she eventually followed the trail to Miskatonic University. She managed to procure lodging from a friend of her fathers who owns at an inn.
