Well, they haven't really established a country like the Confederacy have. They're a rebellion, yeah, but I don't think they're any sort of unified 'state'.

I was about to say the same thing. I also imagine that at some point a few turns after this war is over there will be a Conference of Berlin like OTL in order to decide this stuff.

We will probably have to decide when it gets to that point. African colonization probably won't take off too much for a little bit anyways, not at least until the Suez I think.

I second this. Egypt and Ethiopia are both fantastic choices, probably more so Egypt though than the other.
