Wesley Vaughn
Age: 36
Gender: Male
Personality: Wesley is a very good speaker. He has charisma, and he has confidence. Words are sometimes as good a weapon as any, and Wesley takes advantage of that. He can persuade, intimidate and charm as well as anyone. When speaking publicly, he may seem come across as quite arrogant.
He is quite a cold man. He is not evil or cruel, but if someone seeks sympathy from him, they are unlikely to find it. After losing his fiancée, Wesley has spent years drinking and sleeping around. Whenever he addresses his students he will be sober and show no signs of weakness, but in reality he is quite a broken man who drinks himself to sleep most nights.
Appearance: Wesley stands at a fairly average 5'11. His build is slim, but he is in an excellent state of fitness, perfectly balanced for martial arts. He has grey eyes, and brown hair. His skin is fair.
Biography: Wesley was the son of Randolph Vaughn, owner of Vaughn Corp., one of the largest conglomerate corporations in North America. Wesley was the second of ten children, all sons. While some of the Vaughn sons followed in their father's footsteps as a businessman, Wesley, and some of his other brothers, decided to take other paths. Wesley's divergence didn't bother his father, however, and he had millions of dollars at his fingertips regardless of his future profession. Art was always his passion, so he decided to pursue that, spending most of his days up in his room, drawing or painting.
Henry was the eldest of the Vaughn brothers, and one of Wesley's closest friend. Henry had been raised to be the 'heir' to the company, and thus was a man of business. When he eventually moved out in to his own apartment, he invited Wesley along to live with him. Wesley, at the time, was only 15 years old, but he accepted, as he enjoyed Henry's company much more than any of his other family members.
It was around the time that he relocated to Henry's apartment that Wesley discovered his powers. He didn't know what to do, so he told Henry. Henry dealt with it very well, and just told him to keep it a secret, reassuring him that it would be okay. Wesley took his brothers advice, and learned to live with his gift without overusing it. He did occasionally put it to use on himself so that he could have vivid lucid dreams, but never used it against others.
When Wesley was 18, however, he met a girl named Alice, who was 17. After they got to know eachother, Wesley found that Alice, too, was special, and had powers. She could heal terrible wounds in seconds. After several months of knowing her, Wesley realised he had fell for her. He confessed her love, and she reciprocated. Two years later he proposed, and she accepted. At this point he had long since moved out of Henry's apartment, and Henry had succeeded his father as owner of Vaughn Corp. after Randolph Vaughn fell very ill.
Things could not remain perfect, however. When Wesley was 25 the government raided their house and took Alice. Wesley tried to save her but could not. He quickly fled to Henry's house for help, but before long the government arrived there, exclaiming that they knew there was someone who had powers in their house. Henry lied, saying that it was him, and they shot him dead before leaving. Wesley, broken by the loss of his brother and fiancée, as well as the guilt that he felt for his brother's death, fled the country for several months.
When Wesley returned, he learned that he was now owner of Vaughn Corp. due to Henry declaring him as his successor in his will. Wesley accepted ownership of the company, but put his younger, business-minded brothers in control and spent most of his own time drinking, sleeping with women, and most importantly, training. He learned several martial arts, and over the years, mastered them.
Eventually he sold all of his houses, save one - a mansion on a private island off the coast of Haiti, which he used his powers to hide from anyone who he didn't want to find it. There, he would prepare for his revenge (though, to others, he says he just wants justice for superhumans. Of course his main priority is avenging his fiancée and brother.) He paid a government mole to give him files on various superhumans, which he proceeded to recruit to the cause.
Powers:- Wesley's power is known as hallucination inducement. It means that he can effectively alter a person's perspective on the outside world, making them hallucinate. This can be used in several ways.
- Environmental illusions. Wesley can make things seem like they aren't there. For example, he makes it so nobody ever visits his island. If the government ever came looking for it, they would not find it.
- Wesley can trigger mental illusions, meaning that he will force a person to re-visit a memory of theirs or to just not see clearly. This can distract a person, or drive them to the verge of insanity.
- Shape-shifting is a sub-power of his ability. Although he is not physically changing in to another person, he can trick someone's mind to believe that he is, thus giving the same effect. He doesn't gain the fingerprint or any other physical quality of said person, and would not be able to use a person's voice on a voice-operated lock, as he is not actually becoming the person, only altering what he looks and sounds like to another person.
Skills:- Martial arts: He has trained for years to master several martial arts so he is very advanced in hand-to-hand combat. This, combined with his power, means he is a lethal threat to his enemies.
- Charismatic: He is a good public speaker and finds it easier than most to motivate, intimidate or persuade.
- Filthy rich: He has billions in the bank. Vehicles, weapons and anything else that can be bought with money are attainable for him.
Weaknesses:
- One track minded: If ever given the opportunity to enact his revenge, he would risk everything to get it.
- Lacking in empathy: Wesley is a cold individual and is not the first person you would go to if you need to let your emotions out.
