@Nevermind Oh I'm sorry I forgot to mark the RP as full. But unless somebody from our current group does not finish a CS we are currently full. I would really like to allow for more people, but I find for this RP that a small group works better. But feel free to continue working on the CS in the case that somebody does not pull through.
Madran is around six foot dead, meaning he is probably an inch or two below average for his race, but still fairly tall in comparison to other races. He is muscular, but not in a bulky sense - in fact he has quite a typical build, yet he is in peak physical condition. His physique allows him to move with agility, yet still have considerable strength if thrown in to a hand-to-hand combat scenario.
The plates on his face are a grey darker than that of the average Turian, appearing almost black. Over the years he has suffered some grave injuries, and as a result small cracks and scars remain on his face. He wears paint on his face at all times to commemorate his colony of origin - due to the fact it never leaves his face, it is essentially a feature of his.
Madran is mostly seen in his black armour - it is medium in weight and practical in it's constraints, allowing him to move quickly and freely. If ever he is in a casual environment, such as a club or his own home, he would likely wear something fairly smart, yet relaxed. His outfits are costly and always ceremonious to some degree.
Madran Deltis
The Scoundrel
Civilian Information
Species: Turian Age: 28 Gender: Male Height: Slightly below average Weight: Average Class: Soldier/Infiltrator Biotic potency: No
Military Background
Years Spent in Active Combat: 11 years or so. Give or take a few months. Armaments: Assault Rifle, Pistol, Battle rifle, combat knives Armor: Medium Armour Advance Specializations: Commando Skillset: Madran considers himself dangerous in two ways - physically and mentally. On the battlefield he is an excellent footsoldier, specializing in close-range fire-fights and hand-to-hand combat. He also, however, considers himself to have somewhat of a golden tongue, meaning he can talk his way out of a lot of things, including, but not limited to, getting his head blown off by a shotgun.
Psychological Analysis
Traits:
Charismatic: He is a people person. He knows how to get what he wants using words. He is persuasive and can charm his way out of things, but can also be intimidating. He can lie like a pro. Of course, his words don't work on everyone, but they've got him this far.
Popular: Madran has lots of connections. Over the years he has used his charisma to obtain quite a long list of contacts.
Workaholic: When Madran needs to have his head in the game, he is 100% focused. He believes in doing a job well. Whilst he may have a lavish casual life, he doesn't mess around when things get serious. To get where he is now, he had to work hard.
Flaws:
Alcoholic: Madran is a heavy drinker, spending almost every night at a bar, or drinking in his own accommodation. He is not the sort of person that becomes violent and primal when he drinks, but alcohol does have a detrimental effect on him, weakening his senses and making him vulnerable to trickery as well as physical harm. He goes from being very sharp during the day, to very dopey and slow at night time.
Lustful: Madran is a big fan of coitus. He has been with many women of many different races. How is this a flaw, you ask? Well, Madran's mind is clouded when testosterone comes in to the picture, and he could easily be exploited or backstabbed in an intimate situation.
Merciful to certain demographics: Madran could never bring himself to harm a child, or an unarmed woman. This, to many, is considered a weakness. He does not have what it takes to take an innocent life.
Lots of enemies: Madran may have a lot of friends, but to obtain them he required confidence. In a place like Omega confidence is almost synonymous with arrogance, so a lot of people are not too fond of him. With lots of friends come lots of enemies. Plus, he doesn't really care if he offends someone.
Vulnerable to close ones: Madran has hundreds of connections. People who he would call friends, but, in reality, they are just connections to him. He will wear a fake smile and talk in a fake tone to most of them. He never lets his guard down - unless someone is really close to him. In event of that happening, he completely lets his guard down and his loyalty and care for those he chooses to become close with grows massively, so much so that he could easily be manipulated by it. If a friend was kidnapped, he would go to the edge of the galaxy for them and risk his own life. Also, if someone was really good at faking affection, they could also befriend Madran and manipulate him, and he'd do whatever they asked of him because they had earned his friendship.
Pysch Profile: Madran considers himself a smart man. Intuitive. Well versed in the workings of the world. He is an avid reader, and an eager learner. Most people do not see him as an intelligent man, however, as he typically uses his 'smarts' to trick and connive. He is a wily liar, and can almost always find a way to get what he wants. He's persuasive. Charming, if he wants to be. He is almost always putting on an act, the sort of act that screams "asshole". He plays a character in truth. Arrogant and crude. He is probably a much nicer person below his ruse, but he has been playing it for so long that it has become part of him.
He doesn't have family and he doesn't have friends. He may tell people that they are his friend, but it is usually a tactical move when he does such a thing. He makes very sure that he doesn't care for someone too much. He knows that every single person that becomes sentimental to him will just become another weakness. Something to hold him back, or to be used against him. Instead, he follows the time old rule of "keep your enemies closer." Whenever he starts to get lonely he just drinks a lot and finds another one-night-stand to wipe his memory clean.
When with friendly people, such as the team, he is generally light-hearted and sarcastic in his way of speaking. He acts with more tact and kindness to the team than he does to anyone else, but some are still less than fond of him - this doesn't phase him, however, as he acknowledges the fact that he is a very unlike-able person, especially to those who struggle to loosen up. With those who will allow it in the group, he enjoys some good banter.
Deep under Madran's self-obsessed exterior is a more caring and kind Turian. He doesn't often drop the charade, but he does care about a few people. Even if he wishes he didn't. His past is what causes his pain, and what makes him want to fight alongside the team. He isn't a hero, but maybe he could have been had his life turned out a little differently.
Backstory: When people meet Madran, many assume that luxury is a second nature to him. That he was born in to wealth, and he has stayed in it for all his days. But that isn't true. It's something he has acquired. He caught a taste of a life of luxury, and it tasted good. Made him want more, and he made his own way in the world. Made his own look. His childhood has nothing to do with it. In fact, it's almost the complete opposite. Yes, Madran's father was a wealthy man, a reputable Palaven politician - but his mother was not. Some young impressionable Turian girl he had met in a bar one day.
And that was how Madran came to be. The bastard son of a careless senator and an overly-trusting lovestruck girl who, for some reason, took a politicians word as truth when he promised to wed her. He left one day, on 'business', and never returned, of course. She was broken by it, but she soon moved on and before long, Madran had a step-father - who hated him, verbally abusing him constantly. This led to Madran being a very weak and low-self esteemed boy when he was young.
Due to his sketchy home life, Madran spent most of his time out on the streets, and because he was from one of the less-well-guarded areas of Palaven, he was taught one or two things that he would have not learned elsewhere. He learned to steal and to fistight - and oh boy, was he good at fistfighting. A natural. That's where violence first became part of Madran's life, and it was here to stay. He got a kick out of winning a fight - adrenaline. He liked winning. Another thing that Madran picked up on the street was his ability to lie. To charm. To trick. It came to him naturally in time, and he used it to his advantage to get himself out of some sticky situations.
When Madran came of age, he applied to fight as a soldier for Palaven. He enjoyed fighting. He was good at it. He became even better once he had gone through the rigorous training, which, on Palaven, is of a very high standard. Turians aren't the best soldier for no reason. Hard work, discipline and good training equates to that - all of which Madran received. He had transformed from a weak boy to a powerful man.
Around the age of 20, Madran met his father by chance. At first, they weren't aware they were related, but soon it became apparent. Madran clung to him, despite being abandoned, and his father reciprocated the love, which was odd considering he had upped and left all those years ago. His father was a cold man. Serious, and calculated, as many politicians are, but he cared for Madran. Madran re-established a relationship with his father, and the two often spoke. He no longer talked with his mother, or step-father, as neither really cared about him.
During his service as a soldier, Madran was sent to serve as a guard on a small Turian colony by his father. It didn't seem very important, but his father had been insistent, so he followed along with it. He met a Turian girl on the colony, and eventually fell for her. He spent almost two years on the colony, and towards the end of his stay there, he asked her to marry him, and she accepted. He had met many friends on the colony, but everything came crashing down when he learned why he was really there. After being extracted from the colony to "report to his father", Madran discovered that the sole purpose of him being stationed on the colony was to gather intelligence on a merc. group for his father. After Madran was extracted, they bombed the colony - apparently wiping out the mercenary group, but many innocents, and Madran's fiancée.
Madran, unable to contain his fury, returned to his father's office and shot him dead before stealing a ship and leaving. He managed to escape without anyone seeing, so by the time he was put on any kind of hitlist, he was already out in the Terminus Systems. He ended up on Omega, where he drank and slept with women most nights. This was around the same time that the First-Contact war was beginning, so Madran never got involved with that.
Over the years he served as a soldier, Madran gained a great deal of knowledge and skills. He was a good soldier. But his greatest power was yet to be fully nurtured. His mind. Over the next five years he used his silver tongue to gain powerful friends, and with powerful friends, Madran too found himself gaining power. Before long, he was rich and had his own penthouse apartment. He could still use a gun like a pro, too.
He is, in many ways, a broken man, but he sure as hell doesn't show it - unless he's really, really drunk. That's pretty pathetic. Madran isn't over his fiancée, or the countless friends he lost, but he can move on with his life now. Get some work done.
Denouement
Character Motivation: To anyone but himself, Madran's motives are a complete mystery. He is driven by several factors, in truth. Power. Wealth. Love. All of these things boil down to one goal: happiness - which seems unobtainable without the three aforementioned nouns. He also feels a drive to better the galaxyd, but feels quite powerless in that front, so instead focuses more on himself - not due to selfishness, more because he has no idea how to contribute to the galaxy. Significant Relations: Estranged family. They mean nothing to him anymore. Deceased fiancée. Opinions on Others:
Like any sane being with male sexual organs would, Madran finds Raya attractive. But he knows her game - he is smart, he knows how this works. He knows to keep his distance. Instead of the typical kind of relationship he'd have with an attractive female, Madran sees Raya as a good friend, someone he could drink and laugh with.
Madran knows that he gets under Hazan's skin, and it amuses him a little. He likes to think, however, that under all of the bad stuff, that he could consider Hazan a friend, because at the end of the day the two can still have a civil conversation - as long as Madran isn't trying to wind him up.
Madran clearly respects Nik, or he would not follow him. He is the sort of person that Madran has faith in. He would like to believe that they are friends.
Refreshing. Madran enjoys conversing with her, her cheerful naïvety diverting from what is considered the norm in the Terminus Systems. Breaks the monotony. She seems like the sort that could see the best in Madran, even if there was very little there, and he appreciates that. He often tones down his darker side - the sex and booze, when he is in her presence, for her sake.
They are similar in quite a few ways. Madran respects Olan's work ethic and the way he operates. The two could probably share an intellectual conversation or two.
Ryland is an honourable man, so he commands the respect of Madran. Madran knows that Ryland doesn't trust him - so that means Ryland is smart, another thing Madran can respect. Due to how Madran acts, it is unlikely the two will get along famously. Unlike many Turian, Madran cares little about species and race, so the fact that Ryland is Human means nothing to him.
Personality: Generally, Jamie is quite a kind and accommodating person. He tries to be friendly with others and usually puts himself as second priority. He does not always care about someone who he is prioritizing, but he was raised to be unselfish and he just finds it easier to live that way. He is not a very loud person typically, and takes a much more reserved approach. He maintains a very calm and steady persona at all times, as even when he feels a great amount of stress or fear, he does not express his emotions and will seem fine to others.
He struggles to open up to others, and has always been quite an introverted person. He probably doesn't seem anti-social to anyone, as he does struggle with showing others how he feels, but he does not enjoy spending time with lots of people. He never attends parties or anything like that, unless one of his friends begs him to go, in which case he will reluctantly follow. He feels much more comfortable in the company of a small group of friends.
Jamie is always quite alert. Although his awareness is often very positive, it has a constant negative effect. Even when he is relaxing, part of him is waiting for something bad to happen, so he struggles to completely relax. He might not let this show, but he rarely feels comfortable. He will attempt to seem relaxed to accommodate others, though.
Although Jamie constantly seems calm on the outside, he experiences a lot of internal conflict. He can be extremely stubborn and can often act on impulse, but he will not express his conflicting emotions to others. He still, however, can make stupid decisions in the heat of the moment.
He has few real friends, but those he chooses to befriend are very important to him. There are few people he cares for and has loyalty for, but to those people, he is completely invested in and unwaveringly loyal. This can be negative, however, as he reveals his weaknesses and becomes vulnerable to his friends. Those he is close to could easily exploit him and betray him.
Appearance: Jamie is around six foot tall. He is half-Italian, and has a slightly tanned complexion as a result. He is quite athletic, but was very skinny and sickly as a child. He has brown eyes and hair.
Biography: Jamie's mother was an Italian businesswoman who had migrated to New York with her family as a teenager. Jamie's father was also an immigrant, an Englishman who suddenly decided that he did not want to have to raise a child, so he packed up and left a few months before Jamie was born. Jamie took his mother's surname, and his father's first name: James. To this day Jamie cannot understand why his mother would choose to name him after a man that left her. He believed that she still loved him. 18 years on.
His mother was a loving woman, but an equally busy one. She was rarely around to raise Jamie. They lived in a high-end apartment due to the fact his mother earned a very healthy wage, but Jamie spent most of his days in his Sicilian grandparent's suburban bungalow. His grandmother was a very caring and kind woman, but his grandfather was strict and harsh. At the time, Jamie wished that his grandfather had been a little less intense, but on reflection, he was the only father figure Jamie ever had, and the person that taught him most of his life lessons. Without his grandfather, Jamie would have never became a "man."
Jamie was always a smart boy, and did fairly well in school, but he had very little confidence. He didn't have many friends and he never had the nerve to answer questions in class, so teachers got the impression that he wasn't very bright. He was quite skinny and frail as a young boy, so due to that, in addition to the fact he had very little self-esteem and confidence, meant that he was picked on and bullied often. He never told his grandparents or mother about it, and it continued for years, slowly chipping away at Jamie's already weak self-belief.
When Jamie was twelve he discovered his ability. It was the second or third time that one of the bullies at his school had picked a fight with him, and it had got to the stage where the bully was ready to throw punches. Somehow, he had no idea how, Jamie avoided every single one. It was like when the punch was thrown, something clicked in Jamie's head and gave him extra time to react. Within seconds, the bully was on the floor, with a black eye, crying.
Jamie's newly discovered abilities gave him a new lease of life. He began to work out, and to socialize. He was no longer a frail little boy with no friends. He could stick up for himself, finally. He then began to play sports - all of which he was excellent at. He wasn't too naturally talented, but every sport he involved himself with was dependant on reaction time - something that he had perfected. He instantly became one of the more popular kids at his school, his life completely turning on it's head. Jamie didn't really like spending his time with the popular kids, so he tended to stick to smaller groups, but he found that as soon as he became popular, he would never be left alone. They followed him like bees.
After a while, Jamie realised that he had been exploiting his powers, and he didn't know why. He didn't enjoy sports much, nor the attention that came from it. He just liked the feeling of being untouchable. That nobody could make fun of him. Nonetheless, he stopped playing sports, and stopped associating himself with the popular people in school. He still retained a solid reputation from when he had been a 'jock', but he much preferred being a normal guy.
On his 18th birthday he moved in to his mother's apartment full-time. There, he trained his abilities further, extending the amount of time he could slow down and such. He had ambitions to study law when he graduated from High School, but that never came to pass. His life was cancelled the day he took that blood test.
Power:Time reduction allows Jamie to move around at a normal speed whilst the world around him slows down. To others it would appear that Jamie is travelling with enhanced speed, but he differs to someone with enhanced speed. He has the same amount of stamina as a normal person and does not gain momentum as someone with enhanced speed would - i.e. he cannot run up walls or anything like that, or travel huge distanced without getting tired out. Also, his time reduction can only be used for a relatively short period of time.
Jamie has extremely heightened reaction times, as he is literally given more time to react due to slowing time around him. This means he could easily dodge a punch or bullet. If he himself is throwing a punch, he can slow down the world around him and punch, meaning the punch will have greater speed, and will therefore hit harder. To everyone but Bradley, the world moves as usual, but he can just see things and feel things a little bit slower if he wants to. There are many limits to his power - he can only sustain it for twenty seconds or so at a time, and cannot do it again for another twenty seconds. Also, he can only slow down time so much.
Skills:
Fitness: Jamie's power is more of a combat-enhancing power rather than something that directly benefits him. If someone totally unfit had Jamie's power, it wouldn't be as much use to them. However, Jamie keeps in good condition and can hit quite hard, so he's useful in combat.
Languages: Jamie can speak English and Italian fluently. He is conversational in French and Spanish, as his mother has tutored him in both due to her line of work.
Stability: In times of distress, Jamie maintains a calm aura which means he can help others.
Weaknesses:
Introvert: Due to spending most of his childhood alone, Jamie is uncomfortable in large groups and prefers to spend his time alone, or with a smaller group.
Rash: Personal vendettas overrule logic for Jamie. Sometimes he can react before thinking.
History: Malik's father was a tradesman of the Northern Water Tribe by the name of Sakari. Sakari, like the majority of his kind, was situated in the capital of the North Pole. He was by no means a rich man, in fact he often found himself barely making ends meet, and due to being a single father, he struggled to care for his child. And, despite his rather humble profession, Sakari was a man of pride, and a man of morals. Two qualities that are perhaps more commonly found in a warrior than a trader, but qualities he had, nonetheless. These two qualities, however, gave Sakari quite the dilemma. Could he raise this child and risk having it struggle in life like he had himself, or would he have to swallow his pride and ask for help? In the end he decided on the latter, begging his older, more successful brother, Tuktu, to take Malik in and raise him. Tuktu reluctantly accepted, and before he could have any second thoughts, Sakari went missing whilst out at sea.
Tuktu was a waterbending master, and was renowned as one of the greatest waterbenders alive. Tuktu took Malik in, but he did not love him. He already had three children, all of which he cared for dearly, so Malik was more like a permanent guest than an adopted child. Malik received plenty of love from his aunt, the woman that took the primary 'mother figure' role in his life, but he was always constantly striving for his uncle Tuktu's approval, and no matter how well he did he could never attain it.
One thing Malik had in common with his uncle was his skill for waterbending. Ever since he could walk, he was ten steps ahead of everyone else his age in terms of his ability to bend. This was partly due to the exceptional training he received from his uncle at a very young age, and partly down to the fact that he was simply gifted with great talent. As a young boy he attended the Water tribe's school. Despite already being versed in the basics of waterbending prior to his school years, Malik still went through training that any waterbender his age was expected to be given. He excelled in this environment and was, by quite a distance, the most gifted student of his generation.
Though Malik was very similar in many ways to his father, he was given many more opportunities. He had been told that his father had wished to be a warrior, but he could not bend or fight, so he would have been useless. Malik was quite the reverse - not only could he bend and fight, but he had spent years in school learning the history of war, tactics and anything else that was relevant to being a warrior. The prospect of being a soldier filled him with anticipation, so he followed that path.
He served as a warrior of the Tribe throughout his late teens and, for the most part, due to the Tribe's isolation, had very little to do other than stand on look-out or scout around the city. Being a rash young man, Malik struggled with being confined like this and had some minor issues with taking orders. When he was a boy, working through school, he had never seen life as a warrior like this. Standing still, waiting for something to happen. It was not what he had hoped for, but, he knew he could not ask for any more.
By his early 20s, Malik was already on the verge on mastering waterbending, which was seen as quite an exceptional feat. He received no praise from his uncle, however. The only reward for his years of hard training in that respect was his uncle scolding him for his arrogance. Which was not much of a reward.
It was at this time that Malik was delivered one of life's cold hard lessons. He fell for a girl in the tribe, a waterbender like him. She pretended to love him back but he soon learned that she was just trying to find a way for his uncle to tutor her. She had never cared about Malik.
At the age of 22, only days after getting his heart broken, Malik was with a small group of warriors scouting the lands around the city when they came to blows with some wild men - one of which, Malik noted, was a woman, only armed with a basic club, evidently unprepared for battle and only wishing to protect herself. Malik and the group fought well and quickly defeated the barbarians, but when the fight was over, a small few remained standing. One of them was the woman. Rukk, Malik's superior, ordered for Malik, being the strongest waterbender of the group, to finish them off. Malik refused, believing that the killing of weakened enemies who could just as easily be taken prisoner was bad enough, even worse if it was a defenceless woman. Rukk called Malik weak, and then went to finish the barbarians off himself. Malik stopped him and let them get away.
When they returned to the city, Malik was scolded for acting against his superior. Malik responded poorly, verbally lashing out at his superiors. As punishment for his outburst, Malik was temporarily suspended from his work as a warrior. Though, he had no intention of ever returning to his service. Unable to accept what had happened, Malik left the North Pole on bad terms with everyone there, including his uncle.
Malik set out in to the world alone as a young man, his link with the Northern Water Tribe forever broken due to his refusal to fall in to line. He found himself in the Earth Kingdom, where he travelled and studied for several years, spending his time honing his abilities and learning about the history of the world. He struggled to find himself a calling in life, but this was no different from when he had lived in the North, as he had not been happy with the future he had there, either. To this day he travels, seeking a place to call his home, or someone to follow.
Skills: From a young age, Malik excelled in waterbending and it's many uses. By his early 20s he was already verging on becoming what is considered a 'master', due to being tutored by his uncle since he could walk. He still has things to learn, but now, at the age of 25, there is very little on which he can improve. In addition to his bending skills, Malik is very agile and strong, having spent years training as a warrior of the Northern Water Tribe. He is skilled in hand-to-hand combat, and although there are probably many who can best him in a spar, he is certainly above average. These are very much his secondary-skills, though, and are not too out of the ordinary for a warrior.
Personality: Malik is typically a calm and composed man. He does not come off as aggressive or overly arrogant. In fact, people probably take good first impressions from him. He is assertive and alert, but can be laid-back and have a sense of humour, depending on the context. Malik can, however, be hot-headed and act of reflex. Most of the bad decisions he has made in his life have been decisions he has made five seconds before he has carried them out. Though typically calm and responsible, Malik can become very passionate if the situation is significant enough. He is often very stubborn, and is unlikely to back down easily, whatever the circumstances. He has few friends, but those he chooses to befriend are very important to him. There are few people he cares for and has loyalty for, but to those people, he is completely invested in and unwaveringly loyal. He wants to be a man of honour. He wants to be the man his father wanted him to be. He fears death, but he will give his life if he must. Malik has a guard that he rarely lets down, but when he does, he is vulnerable and easily manipulated. He can often go from having no trust for someone to completely trusting them, if he feels they deserve his faith. This may not always work out in his favour, however. If he cares about someone, he will put his life on the line for them and do whatever he can for them - even if they do not necessarily care for him, and are perhaps using him.
Appearance: Malik has the typical dusky skin-tone and icy blue eyes of a member of the Northern Water Tribe. His dark brown hair is moderate in length and quite messy in it's arrangement. He usually keeps his hair in a pony-tail, and has a small flick of hair on the right side of his face. He has a warrior's physique - strong, yet agile. He is quite tall, standing somewhere around six foot.
Are you sure other people are still in for this? We've got good applicants for every position so unless anyone is in the process of writing an app right now I think we could start. Of course it's up to you though.
