@NewSun Man I loved this sheet. Very cool and original to put it simply. At first I was thinking their intelligence was a bit overhyped but with their small population, water restrictions and other factors taken into consideration I began to feel it was appropriate. It's a little dash of biological magic but I'm ok with it's a great concept.

As usual, I've a few questions though. Do they have infrastructure? Buildings, utilities, communication networks etc? Or are they literally each an island of intelligence? If so how are the Cephlonar constructed? Where do the raw goods come from, how are they refined into high tech industrial materials and then assembled? Is it all done by the single individual over a long span of time? Tools and machines would surely be necessary and these would propound some kind of underlying infrastructure.

Food. It sounds silly but how do they feed if in space for extended periods?

The telepathy was a bit of a push at first but it's not really space magic either and it makes sense here.

Also expect a PM soon

Why thank you! And yes, I know i'm very on the edge with everything I did in this sheet. Still, i'm touched you trust me with it!

Anyway, moving onto your questions!

1: Do they have infrastructure?
Sort of. Each Cephaol claims their own stake in the oceans of their systems if they wish to be somewhat grounded and settled (which many research Cephaols do). Their 'buildings' are instead communal cave networks that is carved out by the Cephaol staking it's claim in the area. The inside of these giant underwater cave networks can be dotted with all sorts of random goodies: designs, built technology, scraps and materials. In terms of these Cephaol 'homes' communicating with themselves on a larger racial scale, they do. But usually only within their Cephaol focus. Research groups will probably hold steady communication with other research groups, warlike groups will 'broadcast' hunting sectors and such to other war likes, though these groups will rarely interact. But mostly, each is an island of intelligence.

2: How are the Cephlonars constructed? How do they refine goods and create things?
I'm glad you asked! Cephlonars are created by hand. or, you know, by tentacle. Each Cephlarrior creates it himself as he becomes a Cephalion. Now if you;re wondering how they actually pull any of this off, they have their psionic capabilities to thank. You may recall that one of their abilities is the capability to interact with the physical constants and properties of materials they come into contact with. This can include raising and lowering boiling points and melting points (so they can fuse and forge and weld and cut), altering malleability (to make materials super easy to shape) and such and so forth. Their ability to produce voltage through their tentacles also helps with this. Their bodies are literal tools, and each Cephlonar is a labour of love. Material is refined through their ability to alter material states, and they think that's pretty damn neat.

3: Food.
They try not to stay in space for *too* long, but like a lot of things that they are capable of, their ability to survive in space is due to their size.
You know how a fat person can live off their own fat for ages? It's kind of like that. Except that Cephlarrior are truly fat people indeed. They will feast extensively before leaving for space, often adding hundreds (if not more) of tonnes of weight in pure fat reserves. These reserves can last a long time if needed, though most Cephlarrior don't like to push their limits to avoid the danger of such.

I hope this answers your questions.

The impact was loud; deafeningly so. In fact, it had been so loud and so sudden that Lt Rylan Myatt would have almost been entirely certain that it was the work of a rouge thunder strike, one of many that pummelled the surface of Arfina-II in the Solar-Dark seasons. But there was no flash of light, no fork of fire scraping the clouds - and the sound came again and again, counting four in total. Four consecutive blasts with no apparent origin, disorienting the marksman for a moment, who was unable to properly discern the nature of what he was experiencing through his daze.
After all, he had no reason to believe that any force would be bold enough to insert directly into the compound. Why would he fear such a farfetched notion? It was probably just equipment failure, he had told himself. Things were so clunky in the middle of the ruin-city that malfunctions were the norm rather than the exception, and seemingly random mechanical failures would happen to the most archaic, esoteric of devices. In this case it was probably a fuel-cell divider or one of the old transistor cores.
He raised his rifle to his eye, (it had been sitting beside him at his post for a good few hours without being touched), peering down the assisted scope and into the far reaches of the compound, scanning the area lazily for any sign of disturbance.
He could see nothing. Just some dispersing clouds of dust behind one of the southern building blocks. Probably a small explosion of sorts.

"Uhh... Come in Lt Daryc" he mumbled, fumbling to activate the communication device hooked to his collar. "We've got a minor mechanical disturbance or something down in the south quadrant. Some kind of fuel misfire or something. Recommend you give it a quick sweep to make sure the area is safe and sound?"

There was a moment of static before Lt Stanton Daryc responded.

"Roger that. On my way. Kolac is still meeting with his superiors; he's pretty on edge. Not taking any chances here. I'll go check it out,"
-Stanton Daryc begins moving toward the drop zone, unaware of any real threat.
-Rylan Myatt is keeping an eye on the area. Stay out of direct firing lines!
-Other guards have made no notable actions

I certainly wouldn't mind (Read your background, t'would make sense to have something left of your enemy, right? Also would justify when my nation lost its Krytarch: The point where everything began to go to shit. Note that most of my people probably wouldn't even take you seriously anymore 'Oh yeah, you're these guys we wipped out the galaxy' and all that. Some, the oldest, would probably care and hate your guts, some, those who find solace in war, would probably see you as a decent enemy to fight. Most would mind their own business. Then again mine is a race that takes people not even as slaves, but as pets, distractions or torture dolls depending on the person, so I think my people have become all that you hate, but also the worst in you: An ancient race that thinks itself superior to all. However while you think this gives you a duty over all life, my people think this gives them a right over all life.

The Cephalrrior would absolutely love to get involved with something like this. I can imagine the two races being mortal enemies for some reason or another. They're probably of similar ages, too. Technology vs Biology, Brawn vs Brain. Oh... The potential.

Im awareIts just that im usually very crap at coming up with my own space races so I usually borrow and mix from other stuff.

I think that's the cool thing about being a member of a creative forum like this, especially one in the interest of writing. We can always help you come up with something new and original, even if to simply sate my burning pet peeve of canon-crossover. I'm more than willing to work with you to help you come up with something a little more unique if you'd like?

Because using Zerg for the bulk of your ground forces totally won't back fire.Using Zerg never backfires.

I'm no Darkmatter, but I would be cautious about pulling pre-existing races from other canons. Just be weary, ye?
Zerg? Why... why Zerg?
