Giovanni wanted to go check on the school... really he did. It would be nice and easy but he had this feeling in his stomach that made him kinda sorta regret leaving his squad mates. So he went back to them "ok sooo i changed my mind, ill hang with you two today. If The head captain is busy, the captain of squad 6 or 8 should be available." he thought to himself for a second "unless they are in a captains meeting but thats...unlikely." that was his contribution for the sake of group cohesion, No reason for him to pass up a chance at teamwork, hard work and...well work. He could take tomorrow off since clearly he'd be actualy working today.
After waiting far too long Giovanni turned to leave "well clearly he aint here, soooo catch me later if you feel like it. let me know how your mission goes, come back alive and all that good stuff. ok... later' and he walked away out of the squad 1 barracks. He went back to his original plan of visiting the academy, afterall it was still his responsibility to recruit people to the squad as well as the corps. Someone had been given that task, to act as a recruiter, and it was helping but as the highest ranking member of the Kido corp he could stand a little face time with the students of the academy before they make their choices of squads. Also he wanted to check on the students he had brought to the academy a year ago. He would look in on them about once every two weeks, they were all doing well so far, a few bumps here n there but they were all doing their best and thats what the entire soul society needed from each of them, their best.
"remind me again why we came all the way over here when we could have just went to squad 6 and asked captain Kuchiki?" Gio sighed and asked after they got to the barracks of squad 1. "after all, any captain can hand out missions" he added for the sake of emphasis before leaning against a wall. Gio was starting to wonder if koyo's urge to be captain was so strong it meant killing the competition. Surely she wasnt that selfish...or stupid for that matter so he dropped the idea and waited for a response from either her or the head captain.

Gustavo wiped of the dirt on the back of his shoulder, and laughed slightly. he thought while putting on an irritated face. He then started walking towards Koyo to follow her. He found it funny that the fourth seat was trying to lead the third seat, but he didn't mention it to try, and not hurt Giovanni's feelings. "Hey were exactly do you plan on taking us?" Gustavo shouted, curious on where she planned on taking them. he quietly thought to himself as he finally made it over to Koyo, and started to wait for Giovanni to join the party.

Giovanni rolled his eyes as he followed the other two seated officers. Koyo wanted to lead, let her, he wasnt about to stress himself out today for anything, so leading a mission was out of the question anyway. It would also be a good opportunity to see her leadership abilities as well, captains have to be good leaders after all. "lead on" is all he said to koyo, indicating that it didnt bother him that he wasnt leading. He had enough faith in her to at least expect a succesful mission... but he anticipated more than a few bumps in the road, and the mission hadn't even been assigned. At the Very least this would be a interesting trip. "though, how about we ask Captain Kuchiki for the mission everyone else sends you to the outer districts. "

Gustavo started to relax, expecting Giovanni to start heading off to the academy, when suddenly Koyo jumped up to his spot. She moved her leg in a lazy like manner, but it was enough to catch him off guard, and make him fall off the rooftop, and hit his head on the floor below. By the time he recovered, and started to stand up, she started to ask Gustavo and Giovanni if they were going to be lazy all day, or if they were going to do something productive, and then proceed with a taunt. Gustavo looked up at her and smiled, "to be fair I was planning on going to grab a mission latter on, after some relaxation, but now that that's over, then I guess I might as well pick up one early." He completely ignored her taunt, but it still annoyed him slightly, simply because he hated the idea that he would lose captain to someone else. He looked over at Giovanni, "You might as well join us, I mean this would be your perfect chance to get to know your fellow squad members" he laughed slightly, and continued "or do you 'still want to feel young again'."

" I still have no plans so i cant really say no." he sighed "sure lets grab a mission and see where we wind up" he want upset about the turn of events. like he aid, it wasn't like he had any plans or something else to do. Also, Gustavo had a point, it would be a good opportunity to get to know them better. Even though they were all in the same squad and were close in rank they didnt actually associate much. Giovanni spent a lot of his focus on the kido corps and the entire merging of the two units. Through that he got to know a lot of peoples personalities but didn't get to know them personally. This was a decent chance to rectify that so there was really no reason to pass it up.
im just putting this out there but... i was thinking. with kido there is a lot of spells. thats not really true with zanjutsu of hakudo. sure they are a lot but who is really going to use Panchira Torunedo in serious combat, or at the very least call it by its name. Kido is, in my opinion, simpler to master in that theres hardly anything new or personalized about it. untill you hit a mater level and you can play with it.

I think hakuda and Zanjutsu are different, esspecially zanjutsu. its not required that every shinigami use the same sword style so perhaps there can be styles to learn on top of what is talked about in the academy, which is probably kendo. the same is pretty true for hakuda, while its technically a mixed martial art in itself perhaps we can add martial arts styles to it. for example, Soifon is a more skill based hakuda master while captain kommamura was a brute strength hakuda master.

so perhaps:

zanjutsu (kendo) skill 1-10 (4 points per level)
style 2 . lvl 1-5
style 3. lvl 1-5
style 4. lvl 11-5

Hakuda skill lvl 1-10
style 2 lvl 1-5
style 3 lvl 1-5
style 4 lvl 1-5

brute strength lvl 1-20

something like that
Giovanni shook his head "nope. i got ahead on my work so today is a free day, hopefully i get to enjoy it." He explained. Gio remembered that it had been a while since he 'bothered' the head captain like he used to. It used to be fun to him, still kind of was but he was so busy he never got the chance to anymore. However he didnt want to take a mission on his day off. "i think i'll go by the Academy today, maybe seeing all the students will make me feel young again" he tried to make a joke. "but um.... yea i have nothing to do today. and its pretty awesome." he nodded at his own words.
Giovanni looked toward Gustavo and smiled "goodmorning Gustavo, " he responded to the slight wave. Gustavo was a good man, hard working, dedicated and noble. there werent many men like him in the soul society and it was a silent comfort to know they were in the same squad. "whats your plan for the day friend?" He asked, mostly for the ake of conversation but hopefully the answer would give him an idea of how to spend his own day. at the very least he knew he wouldnt be staying in the barracks today. there was a great out doors for a reason and he just had to find the reason.
The now 3rd seat Giovanni Cain looked sighed as he finished up his paperwork. As rewarding as it was to be the reason the kido corps came out of absolute seclusion and merged with the 5th squad it was equally taxing. Damn near everyone needed to be retrained, half the kido corps forgot how to even hold a sword and squad five was barely receptive to the anal nature of the members when it came to kido. A few months later it was almost smoothed out but every now and then they would hit a bump in the road. That wasn’t even the frustrating part, oh no that was the easy part nowadays. The frustrating part was maintaining the balance. See now that everyone was pretty much used to the other unit it was simply a matter of maintaining equilibrium, balancing research with patrols and trainings. Gio was one of the people responsible for making sure that squad 5 would maintain its reputation of total preparedness and excel in just about everything. That meant a more rigorous training regiment for everyone, himself included.

On top of all that he maintained contact with his mysterious female friend form the 64th North district. It was a precarious alliance but she proved several times that she was worth trusting. She was his ears, and he was her eyes. while initially most of their dealings with each other involved the Sect it tended to trickle down to protecting the souls in the northern outer districts. Gio recognized that he wouldn’t have the man power or the patience to deal with all the directions and districts so he settled for the North. After the first couple trips out that way he stopped running into trouble from the souls. He was no hero to them but he solved some of their problems and that seemed to suffice them.

But now that a new day was dawning, and everything seemed so on edge Gio stepped out of his Barrack to soak in the sun. “lets see what this day brings” he recited to himself
