Name: Erik Penderghast
Age: 18
Parents: Kaylee Penderghast
Ares
Personality: First and foremost, he’s a cocky bastard. That’s not to say he’s not a nice guy or thoughtful, but he is arrogant when it comes to a lot of things, and most things turn into a competition for him. Most times he’s looking for something fun to do, which can typically involves flirting or picking fights or pulling pranks/being a hooligan or even all of them at the same time. He loves to laugh and socialize and be the center of attention. He has a short attention span if something boring is going on - worse than most demigods really - and is prone to wandering off in search of something more interesting to do.
Following that up, he’s a massive flirt, looking to chat it up with pretty much anything female. Even though he’s a flirt, he has a massive respect for women - often called the worst kind of sexist by his sisters since he will more often than not just jump into the defense of a female he believes to be in distress rather than assess the situation and see if she really does need help. Believing himself silver-tongued, he thinks fast on his feet and could generally talk his way into, out of, or through any situation - if he wanted to. Though generally suave and sometimes sophisticated, there are plenty of times times when his desire for fun gets the best of him and he ends up in a bad situation, which is generally more fun for him.
Despite all of this, he is fiercely defensive of his friends and will drop what he’s doing (even mid-activity) to go help a friend out. At times like that, he puts on his serious face and will do anything in his power to make his friend happy/help (or go beat the s**t out of whomever made his friend unhappy.) He might not be the smartest person, barely managing a C average in school (aside from gym), but he certainly is loyal and knows enough to listen to any plans presented him before acting. This doesn’t mean he actually uses any of them, but he will usually listen. Fighting, and making split second decisions on how to best instruct someone else in a fight, are in his blood after all.
History: Erik grew up the youngest of three and the only boy. Thanks to looking mostly like his mom no one ever knew about the infidelity when she ended up having a one night stand after a particularly bad argument between her and her husband; Daniel was getting frustrated with what he called an over attentive nature toward her superior officer that seemed a bit more than just trying to do a good job. No one was the wiser, as they had always wanted a son, and it actually helped bring their relationship closer. She didn’t cheat anymore, and requested a transfer to a different base. This started their family getting bounced from one base to another almost every year (not literally, but that’s how it felt.)
Since they moved a bit when Erik was younger, there weren’t many problems from monsters, mostly just problems from him starting fights with other kids. When they finally did settle down when he was seven, he seemed to have been walking around with a target on his back. He lucked into defeating a few, thanks to his abilities and having picked up how to fight here and there from fights he picked/got into with other kids. It didn’t stop the monsters from coming, but before he could really figure out how much of a danger his family was in a satyr found him. The satyr brought him to camp for the summer, and upon arriving he called up his parents and explained everything. That was when he was nine. He didn’t even get claimed until he was eleven, despite the signs being there. Ever since he was nine he has been coming to camp for the summer. Three summers ago, he won the position of Ares Cabin Head and has maintained it for the past two years.
Specialties/Talents: Excels at martial combat using nearly any weapon, as well as a wide variety of hand to hand combat styles.
He can transform any metal object, or existing weapon (examples: a wooden sword or a bow) into a weapon of his choosing; it will stay transformed for as long as he holds it, or as long as he concentrates on keeping it a weapon should he decide to throw it. Objects remain the material of which they are made, but take on a magical (celestial bronze) quality to them due to the nature of the transformation, allowing them to slay monsters. Although he can use this ability during a fight, it will add to how tired he is after the fight and the drain starts to wear at his energy/adrenaline levels the more he ends up doing it during a fight.
During a fight, the only thing there is for him is the fight; injuries become easily ignored and his strength grows greatly so long as his adrenaline is pumping hard. This only lasts for as long as the fight goes on, he finally must succumb to his injuries (such as being knocked unconscious), or his adrenaline has faded. After his adrenaline fades, he hits a major crash and all the energy used for fighting and all the injuries he ignored to fight become overly pronounced with all the consequences of fighting with an injury; usually this leaves him barely able to move when fighting through injury, and even barely conscious if combined with transforming his weapon more than once.
Other: Give him names, dates, or facts to remember - and he’ll forget most of them immediately. It takes him a bit to remember a name when it’s someone he doesn’t have immediate regular contact with (i.e. his half-brothers and sisters); that’s why he assigns people nicknames based on a specific quality a person has. Once he does know someone’s real name, he tends to continue using the nickname, unless he really needs the person to do something/needs their attention. (If you have a request for a nickname Erik will call your character, please feel free to make it. Otherwise, we’ll make one up.)
