Sorry I haven't been on. I had a death in the family and have been trying to work through it.

Sorry for another delay guys. No real good reason aside from just having trouble braining lately. I'm working on responses now and I hope you will all see something within the next day or so.

Furnace fixed...but dealing with sleep deprived and sick me. Please be patient!
@vietmyke I'll contact you tomorrow about potential buddy cop fun between Penelope and Tommy. I'm making a "quick" post for my twins and then heading to bed. But Penny is in the character sheet tab for your perusing pleasure.
Edit: Erm...no post for the twins tonight. Falling asleep at the keyboard. =/
Crimson red hair that started off strawberry blonde only to grow more sanguine the older she grew until it settled to a nice rich red when she was about fifteen. She usually keeps her thick hair fall down loose to its full length so it fell to mid-back, and let her chin length bangs just drape around her face; she never goes anywhere without a ponytail holder, though, and will throw her hair up into a messy ponytail without a second thought if a situation seems like it needs her to ‘step in’. Despite how much sun she gets, her creamy white skin is extremely pale. Because of this, her almond shaped eyes stand out a bit thanks to the deep blue irises that nearly blend with her pupils.
She stands at about 5'5, and has very subtle womanly curves to her slender, toned frame. She isn't one for much bodily exposure though, and tends to wear tee-shirts and jeans that fit, or are slightly big, with comfortable footwear and sweatshirts/sweatshirts or jackets (which she wears year round) over whatever tee-shirt she’s decided on for the day. She tends to wear a lot of greys/whites/creams, but does have some color in her wardrobe; the colorful clothes just don't see much daylight. She doesn't wear much makeup and only really does some eyeliner to pronounce the almond shape of her eyes in a color that helps draw out the blue instead of helping it look more toward black.
As far as jewelry is concerned, she does have pierced ears and likes jewelry even if she doesn't wear much for earrings aside from basic studs on a regular basis; wearing anything else seems a bit hazardous to her. She has a woven leather necklace adorned with a cold iron bitend pendant and engraved stones, and a leather bracelet she wears on her left wrist; neither of these are ever removed. Ever.
Full Name: Penelope le Fay
Nicknames/Alias/AKA: *despises nicknames, but feel free to give her one*
Height and Build: 5’5 / lithe with an athletic muscle tone
Other Appearance: She has a tattoo of a screech owl on her right shoulder.
She has a woven leather necklace adorned with a cold iron bitend pendant and engraved stones, and a leather bracelet she wears on her left wrist; neither of these are ever removed. Ever.
She still has a soft but unmistakable Irish lilt to her voice when she talks; when she is angry or speaking while stressed (i.e. fighting, trying to concentrate) the accent becomes more pronounced.
History/bio:
The le Fay family was once attributed to a rather feared clan of hunters up until the early eleventh century when they began to die out. Until then, they hunted supernaturals in England, Scotland, Ireland, and Iceland - focusing their hunt to fae, shifters, and dragons, with harmful witches, demis, and ESPers caught in the crossfire. But their numbers began to dwindle, between dangerous encounters and Guardian intervention. That was when, deciding to keep the name and lineage alive, Geoffrey le Fay - the last son left - denounced his family and married a witch.
That was the start to a new age of powerful le Fay. Geoffrey, desiring to protect his new family from harm, trained his children to fight as he had. Late in his life, he took on the trials to be a Guardian along with his son and eldest daughter; they were the first in the new line of warriors in their line.
Fast forward through the centuries, and the name le Fay has crossed from being witches, to humans as well - though most of the human descendants end up with some form of ESP - but remains predominantly amongst the English Isles. The name le Fay survived, being passed on via the female when necessary, through the centuries even if it was carried to only humans and ESPers, and each generation has carried on the tradition of at least attempting to become a Guardian.
Fast forward a bit more. Nessa, her brothers Daithi and Connall and her sister Siobhan, continued the traditions of training with their relatives. Nessa and the boys were born gifted with ESP abilities, though Nessa never managed to get hers under control. She envied her brothers in their gifts, able to not only control them but utilize them to pass the tests and become Guardians while she struggled.
One fateful night at the start of spring, Nessa hit a low she never thought she would when she lost control of her emotions and lashed out with her abilities at her family when they were trying to convince her to see a therapist. Siobhan was badly injured, while the others managed to escape virtually unharmed; she survived her injuries, but just barely, and was unable to follow her dream of also becoming a guardian like her older brothers. Horrified by what she had done, she took off - determined to end things herself rather than it be on any of their shoulders. But she didn’t succeed.
A man pulled her from the frigid river she had attempted to drown herself in, and he nurtured her back to health. Her attraction to him was instantaneous. Her family had no idea where she was, or what had happened, until she finally came back home with a handsome man. Their romance blossomed as spring turned to summer. It was then that she discovered she was pregnant. At first, he seemed to dote upon her more, but as summer progressed his attention waned until he disappeared from her life altogether.
She was devastated, but her family got her through it this time. She ended up in an mentally healthy place thanks to therapy (and eventually medication after Penelope was born), and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl the next spring. Shortly after Penelope’s birth, a gift appeared for the child - a cold iron bident pendant. The note Nessa keeps, the only memory of the first and only love in her life, explains why her love left and why he would never return despite his desire to.
Nessa raised Penelope with the help of her brothers and parents. From a young age, Penelope showed indications of abilities. At first, the le Fays thought she would end up being an ESPer like the rest of them, but those ideas were quickly squashed when she went beyond being able to deal with lingering souls. The shadows reacting to her emotions was just the tip of the iceberg, and when she had her first encounter with a bully when in kindergarten and cloaked the playground in darkness, Nessa finally told her family who Penelope's father was.
They decided to homeschool Penelope, at least for the first few years, while both figuring out what abilities she got from her father as well as helping her learn to control it. Her uncle Connall was most pivotal in helping her learn control, being far more patient and understanding than Daithi. Penelope, unlike her mother, managed to learn control her abilities and train them to be stronger.
By the time she was ten, she had quite a command of her umbrakinesis and had pushed the limits of what she could do with necromancy; she could control her abilities despite the possible pushes with which Connall could think to test her. It allowed for her to start attending school again, as the minor problems such as shadows still reacting to her mood were usually dismissed from notice to most humans. She did her best to fit in, even if a lot of the children seemed to be a bit wary of her. Using her abilities purposefully was drilled into her as being wrong when out in public, and she absolutely adhered to that rule.
That is, until she ran into a vampire while on her way home from school when she was fourteen. Something about the way she was walking or her face or - well she wasn’t quite sure at the time - that just didn’t sit well with the vampire, and the woman attacked. Despite knowing how dangerous it was to use her abilities in public, Penelope wasn’t about to just let herself get attacked. She fought back, using her abilities and the bits of martial experience she learned from her uncles, but the woman was just stronger, faster, and a better fighter. It was an act of desperation, an unexpected manifestation of her desire to survive, that brought forth the fire burning in the pit of her soul; dark flames formed around her hands and she managed to shoot some forth to consume the vampire.
She immediately ran home, scared of what she had just done. Once her mother and uncles came home, she told them most of what happened - leaving out the part about her pyrokinesis, worried it might upset her mother. Her uncle Connall pulled her aside to get the whole story, having seen fires in her future, while her uncle Daithi went off to make sure the incident was taken covered up. Penelope told him the whole story, and Connall recommended the family move to a community more suited for her. Until then, her uncles traded off walking her to and from school to make sure such a thing didn’t happen again.
Shortly before they were set to move, a hunter had tracked Penelope to her home. Her mother tried to get rid of the hunter, but she couldn’t summon up her ability from the medication. Penelope and her uncle Daithi arrived to find her mother near death and the hunter waiting for them. Coming across that was too much for her, and she lashed out with her powers which lit the house on fire. Her uncle got her mother out while Penelope fought, and subsequently killed, the hunter.
Her mother was on life support for nearly a month, clinging to life by a thread. Penelope refused to leave her side, despite her family’s pleads, so her grandfather stayed with them too. It was another month before her mother was well enough to leave the hospital, albeit Nessa was bound to a wheelchair for the remainder of her recovery and needed physical therapy to learn to walk again.
Nessa stayed in Ireland with her parents for the recovery, while Connall and Daithi were granted transfers to work as Guardians out of Whitecross; Connall outright works as a Guardian and teaches one of the courses for Gringore’s Guardian Training Program, while Daithi doubles as a police officer for Whitecross. They moved with Penelope shortly after her mother was out of the hospital. That was when she was fifteen.
It took a bit of adjusting to the new setting and her uncles obtaining a charm (her bracelet) to help lower the risk of any unwanted attention from others in the community, but eventually Penelope got used to the new country and community. When her mother joined them two years later, Penelope helped her adjust to the surroundings as well. It wasn’t as easy for Nessa, having to find a new therapist, but they once again became a functioning family.
It was her experiences as a child, and her uncles dedication to helping protect her, that ultimately made her want to follow in their footsteps. She enrolled in Gringore in the Guardian Training Program and started working part time in the GA shortly into her freshman year.

Other/Extra:
Being the daughter of Hades and a strong ESPer, Penelope developed abilities from her father that other children of Hades didn’t typically develop. She isn't stronger or faster than a normal human, despite the godly heritage.
Umbrakinesis: She has control over shadows.
The darker her mood, the more likely the shadows are to shift and try to encompass her (or the person causing her to be angry.)
With practice, she’s been able to manipulate it into solidified forms of shadows to use as weapons or shields.
She can stretch shadows to be consuming darkness in an area, or dissipate shadows (though the latter takes more effort if she didn’t create the shadows.)
She can travel via shadows, but only to places she is familiar with, which is currently within one hundred feet from where she started. It’s almost like teleporting, but more exhausting. With practice, she could extend this distance or potentially take others with her, but she’s not focused on developing this ability yet.
Dark Infernal Pyrokinesis: she can summon and propel dark flames reminiscent of hellfire from her hands; although the flames burn hotter and quicker than typical flames, they don't match the intensity of true hellfire. At first she could only summon it when she was angry, but has managed to get it under control to only appear when she desires to use the ability.
Necromantic Abilities:
Although she cannot summon undead or command vampires, she can command weak-willed undead (i.e. zombies, skeletons, etc.) She can act as a medium and put lingering spirits to rest/send them to the afterlife.
She has an aura that has a chance to cause vampires to avoid her or become aggressive/hostile toward her; it’s much weaker now than it was before she got her charm, so now she has to be very close to a vampire for them to possibly be affected. It’s not fear, but it’s like they can sense who her father is and what he can do.
She can sense when someone she is familiar with has died, and if someone she touched is about to die.
She’s bisexual, though doesn’t seem to lean more one way or the other.
Extensively trained in hand to hand combat, she's formally trained in Krav Maga and Sambo.
[Note: Connall and Daithi are both located under the Adoptables/Wanted characters rather than the NPC tab, in case anyone is interested/wanted to look into them more.]
@StandardKangaroo ((Feel free to react to the shadows at whatever point you think he would notice and however he would. I tried to write it as open for him to react before he was surrounded by darkness if you wanted him to.))
Penelope frowned harder listening to the ruckus starting up and how tired the camp director sounded. Nothing about this sounded good. A bad feeling gnawed at the pit of her stomach, growing worse the more she thought about what it might be like to fight an actual dragon and how that thought brought back up the still fresh memory of how dangerous the monsters out there could be.
She shook her head lightly. It was the best she could do to get the frown from her face and shake herself from her thoughts. Her gaze passed around the pavilion once more, trying to gauge how the others reacted by more than just words. The children at the Ares table seemed like they were excited for the challenge. Many of the others rightly looked worried, some even scared.
Then her gaze landed on the Hecate table, and the boy staring in her direction. Maybe he wasn't actually staring at her; maybe he was just stupidly grinning and smiling at something past her. Or maybe he was staring at her, and that grin meant absolutely anything. Either way, she didn't like it.
Her eyes narrowed. A growl rumbled out of Shadow in reaction to the negative shift in her mood. She switched hands so the one on the side the Hecate table sat. Manipulating shadows was easy, at least as far as darkening places went at least. It took a bit of concentration, and subtly aiming her hand in Oliver's direction, but she slowly began to pull the shadows from under his table. The darkness crept up slowly, stretching to overtake him in a darkness wrapped in power and impenetrable by normal sight.
Wrapping in someone in pure darkness was by far the kindest thing she could do to someone.
@StandardKangaroo I haven't forgotten. I've just been swamped at work. Mandatory 12+ hour days; I'm sure they're contemplating a mandatory 6 day work week for me too. :-/
Gah! Sorry I'm delaying. My company had its annual shut down last week, and coming out of that is always really hectic for me since my area doesn't work but an area that feeds into mine does. I'm slowly finishing up my GiT (her backstory is turning out to be quite the thing, but almost complete) and I'll start working on a post for my twins to at least get up sometime tomorrow or Thursday.
I got home super late, then fell asleep at the computer. I'm going to try to get home earlier today to finish my sheet and get posts to people waiting for them, but some things may fall through the cracks.
@TheIrishJJ welcome back! (I was using a different s/n when last this game happened. Glad you're coming back! Don't worry about the chat. Nothing super exciting. Just some bump chat and various passing mentioning about character concepts.
In other news, I only have a bit more to do to finish off my last character. Won't be able to do that for about an hour. Will happen tonight once I'm finally home.
@vietmyke same, though mostly in regards to not using famous faces. I used to have a whole bunch of random ones bookmarked for future characters, but that computer died a horrible death and I lost them all. Luckily I use gdocs for my sheets and writing, so those were safe.
My sheet will be up sometime tomorrow. I have to go get three hours of sleep before work now.
@Emma@vietmyke I'm finishing up my character now. Her bio is running a bit long and I had to face hunt...and so many things for her alone without factoring in my PM RP responsibilities. Hope you'll like her.
