Ersatz, any suggestions as to whom I should apply for?

We're in need of a powerhouse character, Hulk, Thor, the big hitters.

Shang-Chi incoming. The Deadly Hands of Kung-Fu shall touch this rp. Also idk why Wolverine is off the table but, I'd be interested in a more villainous or Walk the Line-esque Logan working alongside Deadpool. I mean Wolverine didn't become a recognized, full-blown hero for awhile. But is that is too far off the table, I shall recede.

Sorry Kal, when I said Wolfy was off the table, I meant that he's off as an NPC because someone (atm, you it seems) would want to play as him. By all means, throw up a CS. If you want to have any history with Deadpool from the Weapon Plus program, please check my CS for all the basic info I drew up. It's vague enough that you can throw yourself in there (There's even a sneaky reference to Wolverine, see if you can spot it ;) )

I think it's a matter of interpretation. You've got to wonder whether anyone would actually play the character. With DC games it's a little harder to judge because the Villains are just as interesting to play as Heroes. Possibly even more so, in fact. Here however, there's a definite hero bias. I mean, other than Magneto, Doom or a few of the Spider-Man villains, we're not really spoilt for choice. I suggest you weigh the magnitude and the range of the characters you propose to NPC. For example: I'm probably going to be NPCing Ultron. He's big in terms of significance, but is largely just a plot device. Were there any specific experimentees you were planning on? Wolverine's probably (definitely) out of the question, but I'd say everyone else would be fine.Edit: The three before you mentioned Howie.

That's fine then, I just wanted to see it in writing so I know what I'm doing. It was just that the rules only refer to killing NPCs and not about recurring NPCs but yea, I get it.

Don't worry, I won't be picking any mainstream villains or heroes. For the first while I will be the villain anyway so I'll probably have the other guys wailing on me. As for the other Weapons, I know Wolverine is off the table, or at least until someone picks him up and pending their CS, we work him in, but I have been thinking of introducing a new version of Johnny Sublime, possibly some "failed" experiments and maybe introducing some "original" characters as new Weapon Plus experiments (say, Weapon XX)?

BTW, sent you a PM.

Deathstroke's actually a (semi) returning player. I don't think that could do him any harm though.Regardless, I am going to have to steal the above three sentences.

Be my guest. What 3 exactly however?

Also, a question. What's the policy on introducing major NPCs (for example, in my case, new incarnations of the next set of Weapons from the Weapon Plus program) that have powers and the like? Basically our rogue gallery?

Oh, I'm still interested, I just don't know who To go for.

Well that's the good thing about this roleplay. As long as it doesn't upset the other player's characters (or the players themselves) and isn't entirely batshit insane, you can take any character you like and reinvent them to the point where they only vaguely resemble the old version or are only even related in name only. Look at Bryd Man's Punisher or Jonesie's Captain America. It allows you to completely reimagine characters the way you want.

Which has just given me a great idea for a Howard the Duck CS...................
Sorry for the delay in posting, exams have been on and off the last few days and I've been posting in my downtime. So 1st of all, awesome that I've been accepted (though NightNotRunner, really?)

Although now I'm really going to have to put my thinking cap on since I realized I've got a usually ride-along character standing up with the big leagues. Time to get the big boy pants....

One thing I've noticed is a lack of villian-esqe characters from those who aren't the almighty GM or affiliated closely with. Now I have on my CS that he's WTL but I'm happy to start out a villainous Deadpool and work my way through the villain-anti hero-hero-U turn kinda arc (It's what I was going for anyway) with any other player who want someone to fight.

I know that NPC rogue galleries are available to people but I found that having an organic enemy that will test you since you don't know what they'll do next (especially in Deadpool's case) makes one a better thinker and therefore a better writer. I put this forward to Byrd and especially MrJonesJr, since my 1st notable arc involves SHIELD. ANd Gowi, maybe Kraven and Wilson could tango if he's not busy washing his hair? If any of ye are interested, PM me.

............why did that last line sound like a craiglist ad?
My app for Deadpool because……he’s Deadpool?

Player Name: NightRaider

So this NightRaider guy’s app sucked so I decided I’d write my own. You’re welcome! D.

Character: Deadpool

Aliases/Nicknames: Wade Wilson, Merc with the Mouth, Cleaner of the Genepool, Weapon 11

Alignment: Whatever team isn’t beating the shit out of me at that particular moment.

Affiliation: I’ve been known to whore myself out to S.H.I.E.L.D., X-Force, Heroes for Hire, Secret Defenders, the Weapon X program, the Weapon Plus program, Agency X, X-Men (anymore Xs and you’ll find me in a porno store!) and I’ve been known to pal around with Cable, Wolverine and Spidey. I feel it was a great honour for them to be allowed work with me.

Oh, and Bob, Agent of HYDRA. I like Bob.

Character Origin: A long time ago in a galaxy far far away……..

Wait, no.

The day my father Odin banished me from Asgard, I was bitten by a vampire and had nuclear waste dumped in my eyes. To make matters worse, my mutant ability to control weather activated just as I was hit by a blast of gamma radiation!

No, that’s not right either. Wait, now I remember!

Well, as near as I can remember, I was recruited by a branch of the Canadian government known as Dept. K into this program called Weapon Plus, a military unit composed of aspiring mutants or people with the possibility of becoming mutants (a la moi!). I had cancer and they promised the experiments would cure it using this healing factor gene they had acquired from some other mutant, I forget his name. I was the 11th test subject and the only one who the healing graft actually worked on. Unfortunately, my healing factor more or less spazzed out and now I’m permanently scarred, nigh immortal and kinda insane. So they locked me up in their crazy house called the Hospice, I started dating Death (had to break it off, she was a little too clingy), broke out and then started my destined career as the World’s Greatest Mercenary!

Powers and Abilities:

1. Regenerative Healing Factor: The mutant healing factor was grafted to my genes and has given me the ability to regenerate damaged or destroyed bodily tissue with far greater speed and efficiency than an ordinary human. Mine’s a lot cooler as it’s more powerful than usual, due to the cancer, so I can regrow missing limbs and even survive decapitation! Cool Huh?!

1a. Telepathic Immunity: Since my cells are in a constant state of flux, I’m apparently immune to telepathy and mind control. Kinda handy.

2. Superhuman Speed/Agility/Reflexes: The healing factor keeps my muscles in peak condition, allowing me to hop around faster than a jackrabbit on cocaine.
3. Martial Arts Master: Wolverine. Captain America. Mister Miyagi. Me. What do we all have in common? We can all kick ass, that’s what!
4. Medium Awareness: Hey! You! Yeah, you, ErsatzEmperor! You think I don’t know I’m in some geeky online RPG? You know who I am?! I am the Breaker of Fourth Walls!
5. Equipment: Boy oh boy, do I have some “equipment”! Eh! eh?! Ah, forget it. Let’s see. I’ve got my teleportation belt, though I busted it recently and can only go a short distance, couple hundred feet. I’ve got my katanas (got 1 from playing Halo 3, very strange gift to get from a videogame). I’ve got a pair of ACP .45 semi-auto laser-dot equipped doorknobs*, and finally my magical satchel full of ammo and other stuff. Kinda like a woman’s handbag, it’s endless.
*Handguns

Weaknesses:

1. Deformed: The healing factor also accelerated my cancer resulting in me looking like Sarah Jessica Parker.
2. The Cancer: My healing factor was designed to replace cells as fast as they were being destroyed. If my cancer is ever cured, I’ll keep reproducing new cells regardless and will become one of many obese Americans before exploding. Eww.
3. Mental state: Apparently, I’m “difficult to work with due to my instability.” Pffft, bunch of pussies, you kneecap 1 guy for a chimichunga and you’re “unstable”.

Why do I want to play this character?:
Why? WHY?! Who doesn’t want to play me? Merc with a Mouth, ladies’ man, soon-to-be film blockbuster, videogame star and Crimson Comedian. I’ve got a lot to bring to the table and as soon as I figure out what those things are, I’ll get back to you……..

What do I plan on doing with the character:
Meh, whatever I feel like at the time. Maybe I’ll kill every character in the Universe again, maybe I’ll buy you all takeout.
I do have a few scores to settle however……

Sample post:
The wall exploded, chunks of concrete flying across the room, dust clogging the air and a figure crashing into the opposite wall, hitting it with a bone crushing thud. He stirred, groaning in pain “Hey! Only I’m the only one allowed break walls around here.” Deadpool clawed his way to standing position, feeling his bones reset instantly, shooting pain running up his arms and legs. “Alright big guy, let’s try this again.” The wall burst out again, a huge figure stepping through, his skin a deep, raw red, eyes yellow and only a pair of shorts to cover……..well whatever was down there.

“I thought I told you to stay out of this Wilson!” The Red Hulks voice shook the air, his muscles pulsing as he stepped closer to Deadpool’s crouched body, “I’ll be dealing with you last, after I terminate the rest of your X-Force friends.”

“Rulky, Rulky, Rulky, friends is such a strong word. I’d think of them more as comrades, associates, people who get in the way of bullets for me, I mean where else can yo……Gargh!”

Red Hulk wrapped his mammoth hand around Deadpool’s neck and lifted the merc to his eye level. “Shut up Wilson! Now tell me, where Domino is?!”

“You know, red is a good colour on you. Not as nearly as good as on me, but still good.”

“Don’t make me squeeze any harder Wilson.” Red Hulk’s grip tightened, Deadpool’s eyes surely bulging beneath his mask.

“OK, OK, she’s………she’s……….” Deadpool gurgled and gargled his words.

“Where?!” Red Hulk practically spat the word in his face.

“She’s hot.” Deadpool pulled out his ACP .45 and blasted Red Hulk right between his eyes. It wouldn’t even make a dent in Red Hulk, but at this range, it would certainly make him blink. He roared and released Deadpool, shielding his eyes and rubbing them furiously. Meanwhile Deapool kicked off the red beast’s chest, parried off the wall and vaulted over him.

“Tag, you’re it!”

He landed on the crushed floor behind him and dashed through the hole. “Later Red! This guy’s got a date! But not with Domino. Totally not Domino!”

“WILSON!!” Red Hulk bellowed out, his voice shaking the very walls that were left standing, his vision still slightly blurred as he twirled, swinging wildly and growling in violent anger. When he finally came to a halt, there were only 3 sounds he could hear. The sound of his own laboured breathing, Wilson’s distant laughter and an ominous beeping coming from behind him. He turned but saw nothing. The beeping was still behind him. He rounded again. Nothing. He realised that the beeping was him. On his back. And it was getting faster. “Tag……”

The explosion rocked the building. Those thermite mines Deadpool had picked up packed an absolute whollop and would certainly slow Red down. “What a waste of a good explosive. I was planning on putting that in Taskmaster’s birthday cake!”

Outside an X-Force safehouse in Tokyo

Deadpool slunk along the roof top as stealthily as he could. It didn’t help, however, that he was humming a generic sneaking tune with every move. He reached the vent into the building and slowly pulled off the grate.

*Now, to find Domino.*

“Hey! Where the hell have you been? I missed you, intangible thought bubbles!”

*Do you think now is the best time to reminisce?*

“……..We are so getting tacos together after this. Or Chimichungas!”

*I can believe I’m saying this, but focus!

…and we totally are getting tacos.*

Then Deadpool felt the familiar nudge of a gun barrel at the back of his head.

“Wade, tell me what you’re doing here or I pull the trigger.” Domino’s sly, silky voice somehow swapped between sexy and intimidating at the same time.
“Dom, baby, you know you can’t kill me, even if you wanted to! You don’t want to, right? Right?”

“Oh, I know I can’t. But I know it still hurts like hell……..”

*Awh crap.*

“You said it.”

Do I know how to post a picture? Of course I……wait……wait, is this it? Did I do it?

Player Name: NightRaider

Character: Taskmaster

Aliases/Nicknames: Anthony “Tony” Masters, Captain Masters, the “Minister of Defence”

Alignment: Good (WTL)

Affiliation: S.H.I.E.L.D.

Character Origin:
Anthony Masters remembers very little of his own life. From what he has gathered from service files, he has served with the military and S.H.I.E.L.D. all of his adult life. He served in the US military in 1990s, particularly in the Gulf War. When he showed a perchance for stealth and close-combat in the field, he graduated from basic infantry to Covert Ops over his tenure and upon returning home from service, was offered a place at S.H.I.E.L.D. where he ran several successful missions. His most recent run was an undercover stint in the Crime Syndicate in New York, where he gathered valuable intel on the gang’s current objectives. Prior to the incident that lead to his condition, he had just begun serving as S.H.I.E.L.D.’s chief hand-to-hand trainer.
The reason for the gaps in his memory is from an experimental serum, originally developed during WWII, which was modified by S.H.I.E.L.D. using notes of the original Super Soldier program. Masters volunteered to be the test subject. Repeated testing showed that Masters had developed the ability to memorise and duplicate any person’s movements merely by watching them. The side effects of the experiment were that this memorisation ability came at the cost of his personal memory. Masters began forgetting where he was, what the testing was for, even who he was. In order to bypass this, S.H.I.E.L.D. inserted a syntho-organic, micro-data storage device into his brain, that was linked to it but could not store or erase new memories from it, only access the ones stored on it. Masters has direct access to this device so he can manage what specific memories he retains. As a result, Masters requested that he put back on active duty under the new code name: Taskmaster.

Taskmaster Data Storage Unit Summary (Taskmaster Eyes Only)

Powers and Abilities:

1. Photographic Reflex Memory: Ability to duplicate almost any physical act that he sees done by someone else only once. This includes combat movements, sleight of hand, practice-based exercises (e.g. piano), marksmanship, archery, gymnastics and aerobatics. A side effect of the photographic reflex is that the speed at which the techniques are observed can affect his movements, increasing in velocity, giving him a burst of near-superhuman speed. He has also discovered that he can copy the vocal muscle movements of others to mimic their voice patterns.
2. Superior Athletic Capabilities: Taskmaster is a naturally athletic individual who has trained his body to near peak-perfection, even rivalling many superpowered heroes and villains in terms of athleticism and physical conditioning.
3. Expert Tactician: His years of Army, Covert and S.H.I.E.L.D. service have shown Masters a myriad of different tactical strategies and procedures.
4. Equipment: Taskmaster utilises a variety of S.H.I.E.L.D. tech, depending on the mission at hand. No matter the mission, he always carries the same equipment: a pair of SW1911, custom-built in black often with silencers attached and a modern double-edged shortsword, based on the classical xiphos used by the Greeks, updated with a modern grip and metal blade,a mix of titanium and secondary adamantium for cost-effectiveness. He also wears a custom bodysuit uniform, made of a prototype fibre mix similar to Kevlar but much thinner and elastic to allow easier hand-to-hand combat. Taskmaster made some personal modifications to the suit, reinforcing the forearm and shin pads to allow harder strikes and protect better when blocking. He also added a face mask to hide his identity, induce fear in his rivals and because one of his pupils thought “thought it looked cool”.

Weaknesses:
1. Full Physical Duplication: Taskmaster cannot copy a feat that requires a power to accomplish. E.g. he may observe someone lifting a huge weight and be able to duplicate the correct movements but cannot replicate the superhuman strength to fully accomplish the act.
2. Energy/Projectile Duplication: Cannot duplicate any energy/projectile capabilities for the same underlying reasons.
3. Underlying Disciplines: He can mimic certain actions but not actions that occur after or are connected to the action. For example, he can mimic a dive into water but not how to swim (unless he observes the swimming action) or mimicking a song that he observed on the piano but he cannot compose his own as he does not know the musical scales.
4. Random Amnesia: When Taskmaster copies a new action, it copies over old personal memories (except those saved in his organo-drive) However the organo-drive can only hold a small amount of information due to the intricacy of the surgical procedure, the device could not be that large. So if Taskmaster learns new information, then duplicates a new action, this may copy over the new information. The override is random in what memories it goes over.

Why do I want to play this character?:
While I love the mainstream superpowered characters like anyone else, I love 2 other types of characters in the Marvel (and indeed, the overall comic) Universe: the lesser known superpowered characters (such as Deadpool) and the characters that have nothing but their wits and maybe a slight edge. I feel Taskmaster fits into the former. I became fascinated with Taskmaster after learning of him through the Deadpool comics. I feel he would be an excellent character to play in the roleplay as his backstory is very vague and he is one character who has not been revisited and rehashed to death, meaning many avenues have not been explored and I intend to do this.

What do I plan on doing with the character:
Not giving too many details away, I plan to reinvent Taskmaster as a “good” but more in the vein of the down-and-dirty hero, the antithesis of Captain America, the hero who does what needs to be done for the good of everyone.

Sample post: WIP

replace white mask with…

My mom did too actually. We ordered another screen for her laaptop off a certain worldwide networking resource.

SO, you're the infamous Nightrunner I've been hearing so much about and been confused with so much........
Yes Matt, I noticed. Even though I didn't ask you to or respond in anyway to the offer.

I wasn't referring to the CS, I was talking about the storyline that you've obviously planned out for your character and also leaving it open ended enough that if anyone else decides that they want to try the Hulk that they know there may be a She-Hulk entering their storyline.

Since I've conceded the She-Hulk CS, you're welcome to change it back to the way you had it if you want to.
