I'm probably going to be one of the older members of this site. I've been roleplaying since Dungeons & Dragons had a Saturday morning cartoon on television. Yeah, I'm that old. I've been roleplaying online since 2001. I started in Yahoo chat rooms, and then around 2011 I was introduced to online forum roleplay. I tend to favor forum roleplay with multiple players than one-on-one games.
By this site's definition I am a Casual roleplayer as I may type anywhere from a few lines to a paragraph or two. It really depends on the game and the scene at the time. I tend to type less when my character is in a friendly conversation with another. Occasionally I may write three, four, or five paragraphs if so inspired.
I enjoy multiple settings with Modern/Slice of Life, Supernatural/Horror, Fantasy, and Superhero-themed being my faves.
Outside of roleplaying I enjoy television and movies, expanding my songs list on Spotify, and since last year, for better or worse, I've been watching a decent amount of cable news. I enjoy watching WWE, Supernatural, Arrow, The Flash, and The Daily Show. Animes I've enjoyed have been Attack on Titan, Fullmetal Alchemist, Parasyte: the Maxim, Tokyo Ghoul, and Sailor Moon (haven't seen the entire series). When it comes to music I'm mainly into Rock yet I will also listen to some Metal and Pop, and I'm a fan of 80's music.
I used to be really into comic books, but with today's prices a may just pick up the occasional graphic novel here and there. I'm more knowledgeable about Marvel characters than I am DC I believe. My favorite superhero is Spider-Man. Other characters I like are: Batman, the original New Warriors team, the original Thunderbolts team, the original Young Avengers team, and Young Justice (both the original comic & the animated series).

If you want to keep it in California then Cost City, San Francisco, and San Jose are all between Star City and L.A.
This site might help you out with the game, but it's a bit dated. It's pre-New 52 I believe.

June 23th, 2018 - Time 19:47 | The Kane Ballroom - Gotham Heights
As Thea braced herself for the inevitable crashing of bodies, the old man was suddenly pulled from the space he had occupied just a second before. The unforeseen rescue by an invisible force through Thea off, if only for a second, and caused her to lose her balance leaving her open for attack. The old man would yell out a warning as she looked toward the faux Batman, watching the false vigilante pull out the flechette from his neck as if it were nothing but a stinger from a bee. As the watched the fake Batman began to what Thea could only describe as melt. "I AM THE NIGHT!" he shouted seemingly in defiance as he melted, his skin and costume becoming one in color and in substance as flesh and cloth transformed into slime and ooze. A glance to the side allowed Thea to see dead party-goers suddenly rise and rush towards the old man and a younger man -was that a dishrag on his face? The former Batman began stalking towards her, his mouth growing inhumanly long and wide with each step.
"Shit," Thea said under her breath. Up to this point she had never faced a metahumn before. She was completely out of her element here and unsure of what to do next.
As if on cue, a silvery haired young woman entered the ballroom with guns blazing firing her automatic weapon towards the undead while making a beeline towards Thea. The woman shoved Thea, a move that was more annoying than necessary in Thea's mind, before jumping on to a table and opening fire on the oozing Batman. "That's not going work!" Thea yelled at her. Then, the woman fired a grenade at the approaching monster. "But, that might," Thea mumbled.
"Fuckin' run!" the silver haired woman screamed at Thea after turning over the table she was standing on and using it as temporary cover. Running seemed like the obvious choice of action. Besides, Thea still had a mother to check on.
Finding the closest exit Thea opened the door and did her best to flag down the two men who hopefully hadn't been hit bit friendly fire while shouting back at the woman, "This way!"
