Dulga Tarata | Kaida Baeumont | Retha Hal
Kaida was surprised when she saw Dulga walk in with all her stuff. She didn’t even look to see who her roommate was. Apparently with her dropping her luggage on her bed this meant she was it. She was shocked at this thought. Her mind going towards class of what she did. But then even before that when she offered her cloak...she was so confused when she thought of Dulga. She missed the fact of Dulga walking towards her and covered her in her cloak again and wrapping her arms around her as if to protect her from the other two girls. She didn’t move, she froze. She didn’t know what to think of this now, though...she was quite warm.
As the others left, she pulled away suddenly but gently, looking away to her bed as she said
“Um… Thank you…” was all she could muster really. A bright shade of pink on her cheeks again in embarrassment.
Looking down at Kaida, Dulga tried to think of what to say. What to do. What would her mother say? First, Dulga did wrong by Kaida. She needed to apologize and explain herself.
”I’m sorry. For what happened in class. I was trying to goad Mako to attack me. I knew that by reading one of the sheets she’d try to stop me. I… Noticed that Mako said you had a secret. So I chose your paper knowing that Mako would not like that. I… Didn’t consider your feelings.” Dulga said with a hint of sadness. She realized how callous that made her sound. Dulga wasn’t sure what to do with that.
”I should have thought about it more. Mako’s lesson was all about thinking like a villain not acting like one. And despite the praise Mako gave me I failed her lesson. And… Hurt you.” Dulga clutches her arms, all six of them.
”Um… Are you still mad at me?”Kaida didn't look at her as she explained why she did that in class. She was glad she apologized for what she did. She saw her reasoning a little but still it was her secret. She admitted wrong and despite not wanting to give up her anger so quickly she couldn't help herself… she certainly knew when she wasn't nice and how she felt afterwards. She didn't even realize till it was done.
So she couldn't hold it against her.because she was her classmate and roommate for the next year. She sighed as she looked at her finally, hearing her sadness in her voice and her stance, very similar to hers… Shaking her head she said.
“Thank you… I… I'm just scared of what people would think of my quirk when they see it.” She already knew her quirk so she was glad she could talk about it with someone.
“It just reminds me of my father…. and most people are scared when they see it. I know I'll have to show them one of these days but...but I don't want them to judge me on it.“ she looked to Dulga again. Realizing her quirk was out of the open and she knew she hid it as best she could with her cloak.
“Sorry...“Without a moment of hesitation Dulga stepped towards Kaida and hugged her again.
”I completely understand Kaida. I… Know how that feels like. People judge me. I’ve learned to not care but… As you can tell I wear this cloak to hide it anyways. For many reasons.” The cloak wasn’t just her mother’s memento. It provided Dulga comfort both practically and mentally.
”I wouldn’t want to do to you what I don’t want you to do to me.” A bit of old timey wisdom that actually came from her father. Dulga could only wish she could help Kaida deal with her anxiety somehow. And she doubts that she could find a cloak big enough to cover Kaida when she goes full dragon.
”We should finish packing. Or at least I need too. And do our homework. And get something to eat. If you want.”She nodded and felt a little worse. Despite being glad at receiving another hug. She had it easy, she could literally hide it from plain sight but Dulga had a permanent thing she had to cover.
“I would like that. Food always helps.” She said with a small smile. She was about to offer to help unpack when suddenly their door slammed open, causing her to jump. Even more. Suddenly the room became much more warm and comforting at the same time. She looked to see a woman in her hero's outfit standing there, asking. What was wrong.
She was standing slightly behind Dulga but came out and said softly.
”One of the other students just... Scared me.“ she waved her hands not to get her in trouble
“NOT ON PURPOSE. I-I-I just had a bad memory come from it.” She said so quietly. As she felt her arms. Old ghost of wounds coming back and somehow aching again.
“I'm so sorry for making a ruckus…”Retha put her hands on her hips as she listened to Kaida explain herself normally the heat would go down when she was told the truth and it didn’t seem like she was being lied to but for some reason the heat in the room only raised which was very unfortunate for the entire dorm especially those who were on this floor in particular. Retha nodded her head and excused herself in deeper into the room listening to the dragon girl talk while she searched the room for any lingering intruders. If someone came into this room itself, there were only two actual possibilities, she stood up from looking under the bed and stared at both girls.
“Ms. Tatara’s quirk isn’t teleportation so she couldn’t have just jump scared you with the door closed and the fact that you screamed means you had an uninvited visitor, so either the door was closed and someone in fact did teleport in which I’ll remind you using such quirks in prohibited in the dorms or Ms. Baemount you left your door open for uninvited guests” She explained as the room became smoldering hot, if the door weren’t open it would be completely unbearable by most
“This dorm is home to many students of both genders and the boys are at a very troublesome age, I’d hope you weren’t careless enough to leave it open by accident for someone to mistakenly take it as an invitation” She gulped.
“Forgive me… I might have left the door open.” She said quickly. She was a little nervous that she was so serious about the facts of the matter. She didn’t hope to get into trouble
“I’m sorry… It won't happen again, the whole ordeal was an accident. The girl wasn’t trying to scare me on purpose, she was just excited to meet new people I guess. I may have been lost in my thoughts.” She did though love the fact the room was so warm. She so wanted to give the teacher a hug...but still was afraid at this point. She then realized she was speaking of Dulga.
“Oh… It wasn’t Dulga, it was another pink haired girl… Dulga was helping me.”Dulga stood protectively between Kaida and the den mother. She’s never seen her before but she quickly figured out from her attitude and attire that she must be working for the school. So while Dulga didn’t expect any trouble from her, she didn’t want Kaida to be in distress either.
”Sensei I promise you that Kaida and myself are fine. A few neighboring dorm mates come over and played around. I just got back from my home to pick up a few of my belongings.” Dulga motioned towards the multiple carrying cases laying on her bed.
”My hands were full you see, so the open door really helped me get inside. As for the girls, they’re young and excited for not only their first day of school but also dorm life. They couldn’t help but be rather passionate about it.” Dulga’s voice was kept calm and steady even as the temperature rose. One thing was for certain, Dulga kept her cool no matter what the situation was.
”Let’s not raise a fuss so early into the school year. There’ll be a bit of horseplay, a few pranks, but I promise you nothing so major as breaking and entering. Kaida and I were about to head downstairs for dinner. Would you like to join us?”The room heat finally started to drop once Dulga stepped in and clarified everything in a calm respectful manner to which Retha herself appreciated, as it stands her inspection was done after confirming no one was lingering about cupping her fingers around her chin and thought about the pink haired girl who might have come it, it’d have to be someone very friendly and excited to meet new people and given the circumstances that could have been any number of the little ones running about so it’d be best just to leave it be at this point. Dulga had a good point that everyone might just be excited about dorm life and school altogether so she had to remember these were children so a lot of this would be expected.
“I will have to decline your invitation, Ms. Tatara, although you have my thanks for offering,” She said before walking closer to the two of them
“I may seem hard on you student’s but I only wish for all of you to feel safe and secure during your stay here.”Retha leaned down as if to give a kiss on their foreheads, but stopped herself, in her motherly mood she had almost forgotten her body wasn’t safe to be touched by anyone and backpedaled from the action
“Ahem, please excuse me ladies, remember to look after one another and to not leave your doors open especially at night.” And wish that the den mother was gone.
Kaida listened to Dulga and nodded in agreement at her explanation, she frowned when the temperature dropped a little. Not much and not really noticeable to the others. She smiled when she offered to have the teacher come down and eat with them. She would really enjoy that. But sadly she declined the invitation. She went on to explain why she was so hard on them. She mentioned she only wished for them to be safe during their stay here. She leaned down slightly, which was odd, as she backpedaled. But the warmth of the room and that simple action reminded her much of..a fond memory.
She smiled that the teacher was protective of her students, and now she was calm at the feeling of the heat. She blushed as she took a few steps towards the teacher.
Um...I know this is going to sound weird...but may I give you a hug? Heat calms my nerves and helps me relax… and I can’t help but give you a hug.“ Her face was Truly beat red at her own request. One did not simply ask for hugs from teachers when just meeting them.
Retha was just about to leave when Kaida stepped up with an odd request, thinking back to her report on her she was supposed to have heat immunity but honestly, she didn’t completely believe that. Turning around to face the young woman she carefully weighed her options, the suit itself regulated the immense amount of heat she generates or at least it tried too, though the design flaw was that it failed to stop all of it and faltered whenever her emotions raised. Kaida looked like she was really looking forward to receiving that hug and more than enough evidence indicated that Kaida wouldn't be harmed if her suit was on at least to her knowledge.
“S-sure.” Retha said, taking a few steps forward and leaned down on one knee slightly shaking at the thought of hurting the girl, but her body was moving on its own being that she hasn't received any kind of wanted physical contact since she was in her early twenties. The hug itself was slow and slightly awkward, but full of love, the heat Kaida felt from touching the teacher was intense, so much so not even the suit could fix it.
Kadia smiled and she moved into the hug, she thought it odd the woman got on a knee to give her a hug but that didn’t stop her. She wrapped her arms around the woman and gave her a big hug, she seemed to squeeze even more when Rethas heat started to increase because of her touch. She did not pull back once, despite the heat. A large smile on her lips as she was giddy as a schoolgirl now, her entire body was instantly warmed up as she snuggled her face into Retha’s shoulder.
A faded memory of a woman holding her closely with such heat and warmth. A beautiful smile was all she could see as she was tucked closely to the woman's bosom. Also a soft hum that was so soft she really could only hear it because her head was against her chest. She slowly pulled away, much to her displeasure of doing so and smiled sweetly at Retha, tilting her head to the side a bit
”Thank you so much! I feel a million times better now!" She said with steam coming off her clothes.
Dulga allowed Kaida and Retha to have their moment, somewhat worried for Kaida’s dignity. She guessed that Retha was able to exert a great amount of heat and worried that Kaida was going to burn her clothes off. Fortunately however no shenanigans occurred. Deep below Dulga could hear Mamoru call for dinner.
”Sounds like dinner is ready. Are you sure you don’t want to join us, sensei? I understand you’re busy but… I think it would make Kaida happy.” Dulga nodded to her roommate. She didn’t want to impose of course, but seeing Kaida look so blissful made Dulga want to keep Kaida happy, even if Retha makes raises the heat.
Retha stood back up and took a step back, that hug was the first time she had real physical contact with anyone since her own daughter was born, that realization alone brought back more than its fair share of repressed memories. A misguided man and an affection-starved woman conceiving a daughter, then both the baby and man were gone without a trace; her own little one, her little Kaida. Reatha looked a bit sad now and when Dulga snapped the den mother out of her trance by asking again if she wanted to go to lunch with them, at this point she would have taken them up on that offer but now she had to check out something for herself.
“I’m very sorry ladies but I’m afraid I have to, I have to make sure the rest of the building is up to snuff and suitable for dorm life, I’ll be in my office downstairs next to the main entrance if you need me though.” Retha explained before walking off in truth to head directly to her office to do a little research.
Kaida frowned slightly that she declined once more, but was also glad that Dulga was adamant on asking her. She really was a sweet girl… When she wasn’t trying to fight. When Retha left she looked to Dulga and said more confidently now,
“Thank you for your concern… But I should be good for a little bit. Just think of that as a recharge” She said with a giggle. She looked down at her clothes, though not ruined, she could see they were slightly shiny now, just like if an iron was pressed on them too long.
”Oops…” Was all she said as she moved to her closet.
”Well let's get changed first before we head down?” With that, she quickly undressed and got into her riding pants, and a loose white blouse. It didn’t seem like something that one would wear for comfort… But it reminded her of home… And her horses that she missed. She slipped on some knee high leather boots and sighed contently as she looked at Dulga.
”Ready?” ”Just give me a chance to change out.” Dulga still needed time to put all her things away, but she could get her clothes easily. Dulga took off her cloak, mask, and school uniform. During that brief moment Dulga’s entire body was exposed; her arms weren’t just the only part that was heavily burnt. It was her four arms, the entirely of her back, her thighs, and calf. The burns also went up to her neck and the left side of her face. It was as if someone had thrown a fireball at her back. Kaida wouldn’t be able to see her front and wouldn’t for long as Dulga slipped on a simple pair of dark green sweatpants and a strange looking sweater; it looked like sweater except it was entirely backless in order to accommodate her extra arms. It was a backless halter neck aryan sweater. It seemed rather trendy if it wasn’t for the fact Dulga also wore completely unflattering sweatpants with it.
Putting her cloak and mask back on Dulga almost looked indistinguishable, with only her dragon themed slippers being the odd thing about her outfit. Looking at Kaida, Dulga smiled underneath her mask.
”You look cute. Let’s get some dinner.” Dulga lead Kaida out of the dorm and to the dining room. After locking their door of course. Wouldn’t want Retha to lecture them about leaving their door open again.
