Current How do people get their roleplays to last years? I can barely find any that get off the ground.

I just made Cinnamon Apple Snickerdoodle Cupcakes. I also may have been heavily drinking while making them. Either way, the house smells great!

Bio

Hello!

I've been on a roleplaying hiatus for quite some time but I'm ready to come back to it! I used to roleplay mainly on an avatar based site called Gaia Online. I was more into what they called "literate" role plays: that is, what looks to be your casual to advanced roleplays. As of right now, I'm more interested in the casual ones. I might go into advanced at some point, but for now, I think casual will be for me.

I've done a wide variety of subjects. My favorites are:
-medieval/fantasy
-romance
-super powers or super hero
-psychological
-some sci-fi from time to time

I really enjoy original stories/premises for role plays but I'm also okay with doing something based in an existing world with original characters. I like fast-paced role plays with plenty of action and adventure. I'm good with both group stories and 1 on 1. While I tend to prefer playing male characters, I'm up to playing either gender. I'm also up to 18+ content. I'm not quite sure how far I'm willing to go as far as smut is concerned, but I will let you know once I've hit my limit!

I'm a gamer, especially rpg's (big shock there) and I enjoy fantasy television and movies. I'm very into Game of Thrones right now. I've seen every episode and I started reading the books though I only made it to book 2 or 3...I don't remember, it was a while ago. I also like older Legend of Zelda (I stopped playing the new ones after Twilight Princess came out), the Fallout games, Skyrim, I'm currently playing Witcher 3 (which I got as a gift. Unfortunately, I have not playing the previous two, but I would like to), the Fable games, I played some of the Batman Arkham games, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (the console game, but I also played the mmorpg for a while) and more I can't think of at the moment. As far as movie and tv goes, I like Lord of the Rings, Stranger Things, the Batman universe, Star Wars, Sucker Punch etc.

If you have a role play you want to start soon or need new members in that you think I might like, let me know! I'm always looking for new stories.

If you want to check out some of my art, check out my DeviantArt page. I will hopefully have some of my original characters up there once I start drawing again.

And if you like my art, check out my RedBubble Store!

I'll be posting as Dromeus in the morning and the fliers will be posted in the town for the hunter's to gather at the guild hall after that so we can start the next hunt.
Captain Drystan Haalard

After he had settled things with the guard and the newly met huntress, Drystan let to clean himself. He laid his armor out and ordered a lower-ranked guard to take care of the damage the fish creatures had done to it. He took great care to clean all of the fish guts, blood and various other bodily fluids off his person before donning a new set of clean clothes. He tended his wounds, most only needing a light cleaning, a few, like the ones on his torso, needed a few stitches. After some time, he left for the tavern.

It was a fairly uneventful evening for them. He paid for a few rounds of drinks, got himself dinner and mostly spent the night watching and studying the other hunters. He had gotten a good idea of their skills on the island, but he needed more information on them to act as a good leader.

Drystan slept in his own private quarters in the guard barracks. As the Hunter's Guild was still new, the Guild Hall hadn't yet been fully renovated with sleeping quarters. That was a project that was underway and would, hopefully, be completed soon. The King wanted the hunters to have their own place for those who had traveled from other towns.

He had been awake for some time when Commander Grux burst into the guard barracks. He could tell right away that something was wrong.

"Captain. The King requests your presence at once. There has been an incident. A few Filtiarn soldier's have been found dead in the fountain located in the upper class district, not far from the Ogre's Teat. They've been drained of blood with bite marks on their necks."

Drystain grunted his understanding and followed the Commander immediately. It had been some time since such a blatant attack. And in the middle of the city, no less. Their pace was brisk as they made their way to the castle to meet with the King. No doubt this would provide another job for the new hunters.

Villiame Ballanger

Villiame came bursting through the doors of the dinning hall, making a dramatic entrance fitting the exasperated look on his face.

"Anastasia!" He practically yelled as he spotted her. "My apologies, I know you wanted to speak to father but he has been summoned by the King."

The young Ballanger boy was visibly worried, approaching Anastasia with a quick hug. He was handsome, albeit much younger than she was. Despite their ages, he had taken quite an interest in their Blessed Guardian. It was a known fact that he loved beauty, especially in women. Unlike Luther Filtiarn, however, his love was not fleeting. He was known to latch on to an individual and pour his heart out to her, speaking of soulful devotion, only to be heartbroken when something inevitably went wrong. He was a Ballanger, after all, and did his best to put on a strong face and pretend nothing was wrong.

"Unfortunately, I don't know all the details of what happened. But here is what I do know:" As he spoke, he glided over and took a seat at the dinning table. "There was a fight last night between some guards at the Ogres Teat. From what I've heard, it was between some Filtiarn and Ballanger guards. That is nothing new, our families have been feuding for years. But this morning the bodies of the Filtiarn guards were found in the fountain. Father is furious. I'm not sure what he's going to do. I'm afraid the guilt will fall on us and that is something father simply will not stand for..."
Sorry I've been quiet today. I've been busy. I'll have a post up soon.
@Lucius Cypher That's no problem. We'll keep you and your character in everything but on the days you can't post, we'll just assume he's following along, even getting some hits in battle of that's okay with you?
@Excal Yeah, that's fine with me.

Also whoops. Must have accidentally hid the zeroth post. I fixed it, it should be back up.
I want to (awkwardly) address activity for the sake of getting everyone on the same page.

I know life can get in the way at unexpected times and get in the way of hobbies and such. Buuut I want to open things up for those of us who are on and posting more than once a day. Obviously there are different activity levels among players and I respect that.

That being said, please let me know if you are losing interest or are expecting to be too busy to post for more than a couple days. We're at a good point in the roleplay for characters to duck out if you're feeling you can't keep up or to just go on hiatus. If you're having trouble with inspiration, please let us know, too so we're not waiting for you to post or so we can give you ideas. I'm not going to get mad at someone for dropping out. We can always open it up for more applications.

I want to continue, as Lord Linguinie and I have lots of plot ideas that have yet to be revealed. I know it's the weekend so some of you may not see this right away, but I want to ask that you try to post at least once every one to two days. If that's not possible, let us know and we might be able to work something else out. I think Migyudon had a good idea about doing autopilot. So I'm thinking if you haven't posted in one to two days, your character will be put on autopilot and just assumed to be following with the group.

That sound good to everyone?
@Lucius Cypher @SirSqueakalot91 @Zelosse @Excal @Norschtalen @Ryonara @Migyudon @Stitches
I've never used discord but I'm open to it if you guys want to use it.

Also, let me know if I'm posting too fast. I'm trying to give everyone a chance to reply but also move the story along so we don't start losing interest.

I'm trying to keep the summary updated on the first page in the ooc tab if that helps anyone keep up.
Captain Drystan

Looking the woman up and down, Drystan stood silent a moment. Unlike the guard who stood before him, Drystan picked up on Irelia's blindness right away. His eyebrows furrowed just slightly in thought. She seemed capable, despite her lack of vision, but slaying an ogre was difficult for someone with all of their senses in tact. She must be very clever, then. Glancing over at the ogre, he confirmed what she had claimed, that her name had been carved into the creature's forehead. A hint of a smile tugged at the corner's of his lips before he returned his attention back to the girl.

"Impressive," he spoke sincerely. "I don't think I've met a blind hunter who was able to take down an ogre before. If you're interested, there are many creatures that need slaying. The King has tasked me with creating a guild of the best hunters in the Kingdom to take them down. I could use someone with your prowess on my team."

"Even if you refuse my offer, I would still like to hear more about how you managed to fell an ogre. I will be at The Screaming Siren after I clean myself off. It's a tavern near the Gardens, where the south eastern road enters the city. If you care to wait, I will escort you there myself."

Before she had a chance to answer, his attention quickly turned to the guard eagerly standing to his side. He pointed over at the fish creature's head laying near the doorway. "Find a pike to place the head upon. I want you to plant it outside of the guild hall for everyone to see." He glanced back at Irelia. "And the ogre's head as well, granted that it is okay with huntress."
Captain Drystan

Dirty and battle-worn, the Captain lead the hunters, following along with Abigail, to where the creature made it's home. They had to trudge through water to get inside the narrow mouth of the cave, both a blessing and a curse. It helped wash off some of the grime and blood accumulated during the battle but also drenched their clothing in murky water filled with Lord-knows-what. The stench of death only grew stronger the farther they waded, some having to hold back vomit, others simply covering their faces to try to block out some of the smell.

After some time, they came to where the cave opened up. Looking around, they saw countless bodies peppered in eggs of various sizes and colors. The smell hit them in a wave, a mixture of the previous stench with a new, sickly sweet scent. Drystan wrinkled his nose and brought his hand to his face in disgust. He had smelled his share of death and rot in his time but this was a new smell entirely. "Let's get this over with..." he said, pulling his sword out. He began stomping the eggs nearest him, each egg exploding in a mixture of puss and various other gooey substances. He slashed at the dead bodies they were attached to, making sure to completely destroy every possible egg, spawn, body or anything else that came from the creature. The other hunters joined in and, together, they were able to clear the cave within an hour.

Emerging from the cave, they were greeted by a large ship anchored just off the coast. Row boats has just landed and Drystan recognized Commander Grux among his guards. Stepping onto the land out of the water Drystan greeted the Commander. "Commander Grux. I wasn't expecting you."

The Commander paused and looked him up and down. "Oh. Captain....I saw the ship go down off the coast. I assumed the worst. Although this is....definitely not favorable. What are you covered in?"

"Who knows?" Drystan replied. "Despite that, we have killed the creature we were sent here for. You might want to send a troupe into the caves. We destroyed everything we found but a second sweep never hurts. Now, can we be on our way?"

The Commander nodded and beckoned the others to bring more rowboats. The hunters boarded the ship and made their way back to the docks. Upon their arrival, Drystan addressed the group. "Anyone interested can meet me at the The Screaming Siren in a few hours for drinks on me." With that, the Captain took the creatures head and was off.

Drystan, still dirty and quite pungent, walked into the guard barracks. He dropped the creatures head at the door and started to make his way towards the back when the working guard captain got to his feet quickly.

"Sir! You've returned!" he exclaimed walking towards Drystan. He stopped when he got close enough to smell him. "Oh....ah. This brave young woman has come to claim the reward for the ogre.
She slayed the thing herself."

Drystan paused and looked towards the woman he had pointed out. "Aye, is that true?"
Alright well, if you guys are okay with it, I'll do a quick summary post about destroying the nest and we can move on?
