A usually calm and collected individual, Elijah has grown used to his days of solitude. This, however, has not exactly made him an antisocial person. In fact, it may be just the opposite. However, he is extremely blunt and critical of others, throwing subtlety out the window and then body slamming it. Not necessarily because Elijah means it, but because a lack of social interaction.
Post Example:
Mercenary work had always been abundant. Especially nowadays, with the strange beasts wreaking havoc everywhere. Elijah had usually always been one to sell pelts, fur, and animal meat, because it was what he was taught to do his entire life. It paid well enough, for rich nobles always wished to dress in whatever the newest fashions were, whether it be mink fur, fox fur, or rabbit fur, there was no shortage of merchants seeking to find stock.
But he had found hunting humans not much different. After all, like animals, it was a mix of tracking, stalking, and then a matter of finding the perfect shot. And to be honest, he found many were less fierce than a crippled wolf or a trapped bear. He found it strange he was paid several thousand coin for killing a couple of bandits when hunting down foxes would have taken him more time and effort and less coin.
Someone had tried to explain this to him once. Something about trade routes, and how they lost perhaps hundreds of thousands in coin if certain ones were closed. Elijah had then asked why the merchants did not simply go around, or use another route. The person attempting to explain it to him had a look in his eye that made it seem he had lost his faith in humanity, and simply walked away without another word.
Elijah had found his prey. It was quite simple sneaking up on them. He did not have to worry about the wind like he did with most animals, as they did not have an advanced sense of smell. Elijah just had to stay in the woods, and even then, he could make a bit of noise, as the bandits could not hear the snapping of a twig several feet away, or the crumpling of dead leaves under his boot. He prepared his massive bow, and checked the bandits equipment. Most of them were armed with clubs, and some had the occasional sword. No other bowmen. The crude barricade they had set up only could really stop a direct frontal assault. Unfortunately for them, that wasn’t part of his plan.
Elijah nocked an arrow and aimed for the first bandit, who seemed to be the leader, as he was barking out orders. The arrow flew straight and true into the leader’s cranium, killing him instantly. The other bandits immediately knew where he was, as they began to run towards him. He fired another arrow, and the bandit he targeted had the smart idea of dodging it, dashing to the left. Sadly, the arrow simply immediately changed to direction to follow him, striking his heart.
Elijah killed three more like this, but one resourceful bandit ripped the lid of a barrel off from the barricade and used it as a shield. The bandit did not make an attempt to dodge, and just charged his position. Two arrows hit the improvised shield, and the bandit grew more confident. However, Elijah’s third arrow flew about halfway to the bandit before disappearing and turning up behind the bandit, striking him in the back.
The other bandits fled the scene, not wanting to lose their lives chasing one archer.
Elijah saw two men on horses headed his way, and he sprinted down to the now unmanned barricade to meet them, and one of the horsemen greeted him.
“Are you Elijah? This is your payment.” One of the men threw a pouch filled with coin. “Good work chasing those bandits away, if I do say so myself.”
“Thanks… but I could have always walked back in town and gotten my payment myself.” It was strange- That was what Elijah was told to do in the first place.
“Yes, Mr.Heins told us that. But there wasn’t time to wait for you. The kingdoms are in dire need of help. And we believe you can be of use to us. We are gathering skilled warriors like you to combat the growing threat of the beasts. Would you be interested? We will compensate you for your time and effort of course.
“Ah… I will go with you.” Perhaps these beasts would make better game than the humans he had faced so far…. and perhaps the kingdoms would pay him grandly for exterminating these beasts..
Equipment:
- Ancestral Asymmetric Bow
An extremely large bow, with ornate carvings carved throughout the weapon. It does take a few seconds to draw an arrow, but it hits extremely hard compared to other bows of it’s class. It is made from an unknown type of wood, but the bow is sturdy enough to be used repeatedly as a club, though ineffectively. - Hunting Knife
A simple curved knife, effective for skinning animals or slitting throats. Your choice.
Ability/Magic/Technology:
- Strike True- As long as he has vision of his opponent(s), he can direct arrows to move at impossible angles to hit his opponents. The only way to defeat these arrows is to simply meet it head on, as they are still technically simple arrows.
- Arrow Rift- In essence, Elijah can force an arrow to immediately teleport towards a target of his choice, eliminating travel distance. However, where it appears is almost uncontrollable. It may even simply teleport in front of the target, which may defeat the purpose of this skill. Note while using this skill he can only target one person
- ???-A secret skill that may or may not show up. It is, or was, the most guarded secret, of his tribe, and can only be used in the most dire of situations. But said situation has not existed since the creation of this techinique, even up at the point of his tribe's extinction.
