Current The irony of someone telling other people they have nothing better to do when they write on a roleplaying forum is not lost on me

I’ve worked min wage jobs and I’ve done the bare minimum and have still gotten the measly ten cent raises yearly and good references from them. There really is no point, bare minimum gets you by.

The thing is Odin, you yourself state that you 'generally shit on moderation' you surround yourself with people who actively dislike the guild, or have been banned for misdemeanours in the past, and yet you still put yourself forward as this freedom fighter standing up to moderation and speaking for those who won't or can't do it themselves. Have you really thought about your ideas and wondered how many of them are misinformed by your own biases and the people you surround yourself with?

I'd honestly want to know just how populist your ideas are. I find myself in a position where I don't really have a weighted interest in either side of any debate, I'm just a guy who's been on this site for six years, and I rarely if ever find myself sympathising with your position.

I find the majority of the issues you raise incredibly nit-picky, demanding to know what moderators do for example is a bizarre concept to me, are you paying them? Do they have some responsibility to you personally to declare their activities? Some of the changes you recommend are frankly non-issues, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. For example, free, casual and advance aren't descriptors of players, they're descriptors of the rules for the style of roleplay. Do I want to roleplay in a free environment, a casual environment, an advanced environment? The descriptions work fine for that purpose, they have for as long as I've been here.

Making reporting easier will certainly increase the number of reports, of course, it will also massively increase the amount of spur of the moment reports that waste moderator time because they hold nothing substantial. If people are seriously concerned about something, they will go to the slightly greater effort of reporting it with the current system, and they can send their report to every moderator if they want a speedy response time.

That being said, some of the smaller issues and fixes like stickying help guides and the rules on each sub-forum seem reasonable enough. It's just a shame that some of the good ideas in here are intermingled with the mass of general 'moderator' critique that I can't help but find myself highly sceptical about. Anyway, that's my two cents, maybe I'll remember to check back in and see what the general opinions are of people on the guild.

In odin's defense, hank has agreed with him on points he has brought up in the past. Including the changes to the Free, Casual, and Advanced. Ask him yourself if you feel like I'm someone who "actively hates the guild", which I'm not, thank you very much.

If I actually hated the guild I would have left long ago.

I've criticized it in the past, but that does not equate to hating it "actively", rather I would like to see it improve because it's given me good memories before.
@Cyndyr

First of all, a toast to cynder. None of this would have happened without her, for better or worse. I am in your debt, a thousand salutations to you.

@Ruby @Hank @Kangaroo

I have to thank Ruby for being understanding and even attempting an earlier repeal. Thanks, I really appreciate it, as you had my back since the beginning.

Thanks to Hank, who has responded to this situation in a respectful way. Thanks again for the unban.

And thanks to kangaroo, who I assume investigated the situation for me.

Yeah, I'm happy with how this turned out.

One last final thank you to everyone who understood where we came from, thanks for the support!
Why are we still talking about Grim? Her situation is completely tangent from the matter at hand.

At this point I really just think Inkarnate is just trying to bait people into getting the thread closed.
The foundation is already there in Grimhildr’s actions, but I suppose you attribute that a minor such as she wasn’t influenced by the behavior and rhetoric on that server – I can tell that you disagree based on your conclusion that she independently changed perspectives on a whim in little under a year.

Valhalla didn't force her to stay or listen. It was at her own behest that she switched "perspectives".

She was also in the QSA, so... yeah, she could make her own choices. It's not as if Valhalla trapped her somewhere and brainwashed her into thinking differently. She decided on her own behaviors and actions. If she was in QSA, being a minor wouldn't your own theory say that she would have not changed perspective?

I will remain to be discreet whether it is favorable to you or not.

So can I say "inkarnate has normalized combative and antagonistic behavior that has influenced the actions of several minors on the site."

What minors? Nah, just trust me, he's been influencing them.

It's a serious accusation that holds no basis in reality.
<Snipped quote by Nytem4re>
I don’t think it’d be appropriate to mention them for the same reason I did not name any names in my outline of adult members involved.

Well, you're accusing Valhalla of somehow tainting "minors."

Where is the goddamn proof? You just can't throw out an accusation with little to no evidence. it's basically saying "THINK OF THE CHILDREN"

What minors? You're basically going like trust me on this wild accusation.

Normalizing combative and antagonistic behavior that has influenced the actions of several minors on the site.

Wasn't on Valhalla for the blacklist or whatever so I can't comment on that.

But this...

Uh... what? The only one you could argue was influenced was grim, and even then you act like grim isn't her own person and can't make her own decisions. And I heavily doubt Valhalla normalized anything.

What other minors have been supposedly affected by this?

Personally, the "drama" really only started for me after my ban from discord.

The "drama" behind the two discords started a while back (At least to my knowledge) But the incident was mostly behind closed doors in a private conversation (So I'm told) And the outrage that happened afterwards really was just... awful at the time. If you think this thread is "toxic", you clearly weren't around at the time/forgot about it.

I think people were angry that official was basically there without any thanks for any of the people who actually organized the original discord.

Me, I didn't really care that much, GCS was a place to foster community on rpg, Official was really just, the "official" version. If people wanted to chat there it was fine. The endgoal was to have a good chatroom platform. The fact that Mahz decided to make the official one was a sign that in the end, GCS was a successful experiment for the most part.

Which why I had to basically make a server wide announcement warning against any further toxicity under threat of permaban.

Midnight Howl (the owner of GCS at the time) was actually a moderator on the official discord for a bit, to which I assume was to try and appease the angry users and whatnot.

I have my suspicions of what occurred for such a public outburst, and what caused the mods to promote Midnight Howl to what I assume was a chat moderator position, but seeing as I was not a part of these conversations in discord I can only really speculate.

From what I can see there is no storage centre of screenshots for anything to do with this beyond the publicly available evidence chest, though maybe I just haven't delved deep enough into the lair of evil.

My position on screenshots for the record is that if they demonstrate an intent to break the rules of the site, then yes they should be used as a source of evidence to justify a warning or ban. Therefore I suppose if you felt the screenshot of a private conversation constituted some sort of abuse of power it would be understandable why you did it but don't be surprised if the person involved in the discussion is less than receptive to having private conversations screenshotted.

If that view makes me a hypocrite then you have no idea the meaning of the word.

I want to make it clear I'm fine with screenshotting. I never argued against screenshotting itself.

I'm not fine with Nutts claiming that cynder's screencaps were subject to rebuke, when those who took the screencaps were clearly taken to document what they thought were abuses of power, yet seemingly condoning his own screenshot activity.

<Snipped quote by Nytem4re>
Unfortunately not, because I value context and put more weight in those who perpetuate an issue than those who respond to one.

As for the screenshots by Cyndyr, I acknowledge that she was not in the original dispute but over time she became involved, I am not disputing that I did take and obtain some screenshots, but I will state that I was not the one who started the screenshots, that I did not share the ones from the staff discussion, and that instead of participating in these actions we have on multiple fronts made mountains out of molehills.

<Snipped quote by Nytem4re>
You did certainly try to bring me back in this and admittedly I could’ve expressed my comment with less sardonic quips and dismissive remarks. I apologize for that in hindsight, but I do think it is sowing dissent though I probably should have articulated this in a better form. That said, you are correct that I ‘laughed’ at said post. I thought it was ridiculous to be brought up since it reminds me of the whole sentiment of “well they did it too so its okay!” which I’ve always lambasted as an argument.

Seems like you should take that sentiment up with Nutts then.

Yeah... I'm done really discussing this with you. You begin to start chastising people for being passive aggressive, yet you were too, which you even admit yourself. You don't show the same respect you expect from others.

I'm not going to reply to you further. Have a good day.
