Corinthe Malakos

Location; Cori's appartment
Texting With; Rozalia Éathliel @MiddleEarthRoze

To: Roze
From: Cori
Hey Roze, wanna go to the lake again today? It might be the last day that's warm enough to go swimming ánd we have no classes today. what do you say?
X

Cori lay on her bed, while texting. The last weeks had been weird. A lot had been going on on campus. Like people disappearing. Which was rather alarming. And Cori felt guilty about the fact that she had actually heard somebody scream for help, but at that moment she had been wrapped up in an awkward situation with Zeke and Pete and his friend and her dog. After Zeke had arrived she had quickly forgotten about the scream and had moved on to fucking things up with him.

She didn't know how to feel about the guy in question. She was mad at him, even though he didn't deserve it. In the last weeks they had still hung out. He was still a good friend. Their contact was just a bit less intensive. But she wondered if Zeke had even noticed. He was cute, had a good heart and -not unimportant- he was emotionally stable. But he wasn't very perceptive when it came to emotional matters. Cori left it for what it was. She wanted to prove to herself that she was independent and definitely not in need of a guy.
what was I thinking? she reprimanded herself for her fixation on Zeke.

Classes. Her energy and focus had shifted to classes. To get good grades and to improve her powers -that was what she was working on. And even within these two weeks, she had been making progress. The feeling that came with self-improvement, was the satisfactory one of succes. Being able to use her powers more effectively, made her feel less powerless and more in control in her daily life as well. Though she was still far from where she'd like to be.
Mr. Neelson had put her with the other 'benders' for now, so she could train on shaping and moving metals. like magneto
Because even though all bending types had different origins, their effect and training methods had great overlap. He did mention something about her soulsight though. That it was probably dangerous to look into that too much herself, and that when the time was ready, he would help her learn more about it. Cori didn't care much, she wasn't planning on using that anytime soon.

It just so happened to be that among the benders, there was a friendly hydrokinesist that shared her love for dogs and lakes, among other things. And more importantly, she was a girl and was not going to mean trouble for Cori.
Since then they had met a few times per week, next to the classes they already shared. And it was great. They had found a lake in the woods nearby the campus which was a great place to go for a swim. Or practice their powers some more. Today was a good day for that as well.

Cori got up. Her new friend would probably text her back soon, but in the mean time there was no reason to not get a cup of coffee at the campus café.

No need to choose between the three options:

We could start with making them NPC's and opening up the spots for potential newcomers. If they have a vital role to play (I mean, they are interesting characters that are involved in some drama.) we can say that for now, others (like the writers of their siblings) will control them. If it fits plotwise, we can always use some characters that are 'expendable'.

@HushedWhispers
Very understandable, hope to see you back soon.

Guys, I think we need some GM action to keep the story going. Either the story developing today, or moving on to next week or the next event.

Cori

Location; Her apartment, then outside on campus.
Interacting With; nobody

Cori was not happy. She was walking back to her apartment, thinking about Zeke and the past week. It all seemed like such a long time already. But now she felt terribly alone. Classes were over, and as she walked over campus, she saw some other demigods hanging around. Apparently she belonged here, among them, but she didn't feel it right now.

As soon as she entered her room, she walked to her bed to lay down. Her bag she threw aside. Just laying down for a while was all she needed right now. In her head she pictured how she would become lonely and cold and bitter. Ofcourse her powers would grow, the longer she would stay here. Maybe after being turned down (be it intentionally or not) by the son of Zeus, the daughter of Hades might start to look more like her father. After all, History repeats itself.

After a while of pondering on how she would continue her life as a doomed demi-god and then realising that she was being ridiculous she got up to go outside again. She went to the first grassy field she saw and took of her boots and socks. She wanted to feel the earth with her bare feet. And so she stood in the grass for a while. Just standing, feeling the grass and the earth, staring into nothing. It calmed her down. She was glad nobody was around to see her acting weird. She was hoping she would eventually make some other friends, and this might not be the ultimate first impression.

By the way, isn't Hestia one of the main gods of the greek pantheon? why is she not in the option list? Totally accepting all GM authority and all, just wondering.

whoop! almost all slots filled. This is starting to look good. I might make Hera's son then. Well, just playing with the thought. Don't wait for me if you have a good idea for him.

Zeke Carter and Corinthe Malakos

Location; Tacos!
Interacting With; Each other

Zeke watched as Peter went to attend his friend before turning back to Cori. "I guess it's just you and me again, chiquita." he chuckled lightly. "The Dynamic Duo. Children of Heaven and Hell. The Dream Team. And the list goes on and on." He smiled, already thinking about that mouth-watering chicken taco he has been craving since he brought it up earlier this morning.

"Allright team, let's move out.
Just let me check on Peter and his friend real quick."

Cori hurried to Peter. "Hey Pete, so we're leaving for taco's now. See you guys later."
She petted the dog real quick, before returning to Zeke. "Bye!"
She waved at the duo, while realising that the girl was probably blind. Well, Peter saw it. She turned to Zeke.
"So mister lightning bolt, where is this taco place I've been hearing so much about?"

"Do you ever run out of nicknames?" Zeke groaned, rolling his eyes. "Anyway, just follow me."

The two left the cafe and began to walk across the campus until they reached the entrance of the school. "It's off-campus, but it's only about a ten minute walk if you don't mind." Normally it would take him about half a minute when he goes for a quick taco run, but that didn't seem to be possible since Cori did not have super speed.

"Never!" she chuckled. "Allright let's walk." She was still pondering on the super speed thing from Zeke, he had to carry her super speed one of these days. Just when she meant to ask him about it, he came with another question.

They continued on for a while when Zeke decided to ask about Peter. "Hey Cori, are you into him? he asked, not very subtle about it.

"ehm" She cleared her throat. "what?
you mean eh? Peter? no. Nooo. Well. No. We had a.. the first night with the party. When I met you, we actually went to the party together but then eh, I kinda forgot about him. I know I know. That sounds super bad! I was just talking to him about it. But luckily he had left as well. I mean, we mutually abandoned each other, so that was good."

None of the words seemed to come out right. Why was Zeke asking her about this? He caught her offguard. Was he checking if she was available? But he had that thing for Clarissa. Evil Clarissa, who had dared to break his heart. But he knew Peter. Had they talked about her? Was he trying to set her up with Peter? Great Cori, you got your crush to hook you up with somebody else....
wait, crush?

That was the first time she fully admitted that to herself. She tried to undo it.
nah, not crush. I mean just... just forget about that for now.
But to no avail.
She cleared her throat again. "I mean, yeah sure. He's a nice guy. But I'm not into him. So ehm, why are you asking this all of a sudden?"

Zeke raised his eyebrows curiously as she began to ramble on and on about how she did not have a thing for Peter. Unfortunately, he mistaken her flustered outburst as confirmation for the fact that she probably did have a thing for Peter but did not want to admit it. That's what girls do right? When they get all embarrassed and deny that they like a guy, they actually mean they like him? At least that's what he had learned from past experiences.

"Calm down, Juliet," he said, patting her on the head. "I won't tell Peter anything about your little crush. I just wanted to know." He shrugged casually, revealing he had no other motives for asking.

"No I'm.." Cori felt defeated. ...into you.
But Zeke was not on the same level about this. She kept her face straight. Or at least as much as she could, so he wouldn't see that she was sad. She groaned internally. But some sound might have escaped her mouth. Allright. Great friends it is. The thoughts were not aligned with the feeling that came with it. She hated the fact that she would even help this guy get with Clarissa if the situation would arise. Asshole.

They arrived at the taco place. "yay taco's" she said softly with a powerless fist in the air. It just came to shoulder level.

For some reason Zeke did not understand, Cori was no longer seeming like her normal self. She didn't even seem to be excited about the tacos anymore. "Come on, Cori. These tacos are beast, you gotta show more enthusiasm, it's disrespectful to the tacos otherwise," he said, trying to lighten the mood.

Maybe it was a bad idea to bring up Peter. Maybe she was worried about that other chick that Peter was with earlier. Zeke tried to do his best to think of a way to cheer up his friend, while getting his tacos of course.

After those delicious tacos, Cori's mood still hasn't improved. They had already made it back to campus but not a lot of words were being said.

"You shouldn't be so down Cori. You are like one of the most amazing people I know. Whatever guy you like or end up with would definitely be the luckiest guy in the world. You're pretty, smart, and funny. Plus, you're able to put up with an idiot like me which is an amazing feat. So cheer up," Zeke said, sounding cliche as a rom-com on a friday night. He was not really used to cheering people up. "Peter would have to be stupid not to like you back."

Zeke was funny and tried to cheer her up. The taco's were good too. But it couldn't get to her. She felt stupid. When they arrived back at campus and Cori was pretty sure she had been taking all of the fun out of the trip for Zeke and now she would go to her apartment and he would not be as enthousiastic to talk to her anymore, he stopped to say the most beautiful things.
She half cried half laughed, but ofcourse she hid the crying part. So it was sort of a weird laugh of relief coming from her.

"You're very sweet Zeke. And a great friend. Thanks."
And then there was the part about Peter.
"It's not Peter. Man.. it ís a great feat to put up with you." She joked and she punched him in the chest. Ofcourse she wouldn't have done that unless she knew for certain that it would be absolutely harmless to him.
"I'm going to my apartment. See you later Z."

Zeke didn't quite get the last part nor did he quite feel the "punch" Cori dealted. But he did understand that she was feeling better. "Alright, see you later Cori."

As she left, he fiddled with the necklace that she had given him. It gleamed nicely in the sunlight and felt comfortable in his hands. Once she was out of sight, he made his way to the courtyard, not really with anything to do or anywhere to go.
