[The lore here is not a falsification of the Christian stories of the Four Horsemen, but rather a lore I've constructed and altered myself.]
All things must come to an end.
Existence is not permanent. Even our very world has a time when it will cease to sustain. However, this end will not come without an admonition of sorts: the arrival of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse known as War, Strife, Pestilence, and Death. The day they ride to spread their chaos as their duty will indicate our fall from grace.
Long ago, before the creation of our universe, the angels of the heavens lived under the rulings of a god who created them to keep him company and to teach them his will. Once his will and wisdom was imparted, he wanted his creations to have their own will to be taught and passed on, and so he himself became our world -- a starting point for his creations of the heavens to watch over, and where the sun, stars, planets and all began to form around.
The angels watched our world for many years wondering what to impart their own wisdom to until finally humans arrived; beings seemingly made in their image. From there, the heavenly beings attempted to help man thrive. During this time, a new species was born known as nephilims -- the offspring of angels and humans. They seemed no different than humans themselves and were allowed to live with man.
The beings of heaven soon realized man was relying on them too much and felt they were forced to end life and start over, but soon figured out they hadn’t the power to kill all that their god had created. However, the nephilim’s were something that the angels themselves had created rather than their god, and so every angel blessed the oldest four nephilims with the power of the apocalypse. On that day the horsemen rode, putting an end to man and then a new beginning.
This time the angels chose not to directly interfere. Occasionally, angels would appear for moments at a time, thus giving birth to a new race of nephilim, but again they were allowed to coexist with the humans. However, now drunk with power, the horsemen decided themselves that man still wasn’t worthy and threatened to ride again. They were immediately stopped and weakened, but spared in case the need for them arose again. The horsemen were not ready to be restrained, unfortunately. Time after time they attempted to bring about the end with disasters, disease, battle… but there weakened state allowed man to fight off these attempts.
It wasn’t long before the horsemen knew they would have to do as their creators did and use a conduit. It was time to bless four more beings with the power of the apocalypse. Beings who could bring about the end in a more modern way as to not catch the eye of the angels. However, no mere human could hold the power of the horsemen… but how serendipitous that four descendants of nephilim were to form a bond strong enough to share the power while attempting to share something of their own with the world…

In this role-play, we will be playing a group of friends in modern day Hollywood trying to 'make it big' in a rock band. The horseman see this band as a way to gather a following if need be, and symbolism for spreading the end of times through the band spreading their music (symbolism purely). The symbolism continues as each of the Four Horsemen in our interpretation have a type of effect on the masses, mostly dealing directly with concerts.
The game will begin and the band will have absolutely no backing or fame and be doing local shows and the like, doing their day jobs to fund their band. They are tricked into signing contracts with a record company that actually has had them sign contracts binding them to the Horsemen and their duty of the apocalypse who are disguised as a record company, but do however give them fame with the remainder of their power. The contracts' real effects will go unnoticed by the members at first, and the rest is to be written.
The game will eventually reach a far more supernatural genre where each Horsemen will have their own given abilities, but at first our characters will only seem to have powers that occur around them naturally (War inciting fights and disagreement, Death causing exhaustion and sleepiness, etc).
Unfortunately at the moment we only need someone to play the Horseman War, but later we will be searching for people to play the roles of interfering angels.
