Name: Suzaku Yatagarasu
Alias: Ryoutenbin no Sozoushiya (
Creator of the Two Paths)
Age: 77
Gender: Male
Rank: Second Uzukage, S
Appearance: Suzaku is a mountain of a man, reaching slightly over six and a half feet in height. He is a large target with a hulking body that was once filled with compacted muscle. Now he only appears so mighty due to his baggy cloak and broad shoulders, when in reality his body is fairly skinny and his muscles have deteriorated over time despite his persistent effort to keep himself in peak physical condition well into his old age.
Personality: Suzaku carries the presence of ten thousand men. As soon as he steps into the room and wishes to make himself known, all can sense him. Even non-sensors and oblivious minds will feel the weight of his staggering presence. However when Suzaku wishes to conceal his presence only skilled sensors will feel him, as he naturally has the ability to become one with his surroundings through careful meditation.
In this time of old age he is very stoic, almost appearing like a statue when he is found in his natural lifeless state, constantly pondering the possibilities and directions life may take, not simply for himself but for each life he has come into contact with and for the general direction of humanity itself. After cleansing his life of most worldly attachment, he has been left would what many consider a very empty life, though he seemingly has no problem filling this void himself.
He carries with him a very heavy, serious presence that is seldom found joking at scenarios. His face is usually in a grimace, often mistook for a look of condescension, which is not the case. He greets each individual with a unique respect while accepting them for who they are. He easily discerns the reasons behind peoples' emotions and actions, as it has been a personal hobby of his to observe human behavior over the course of his long life.
After living as long as he has, his soul has purged itself of mercy, and seeks justice in the world. There is no pity in him for anyone, including himself. To him, self-pity is an illusory state of mind to fool oneself into believing that they are not deserving of the situation they have found themselves in. It is his personal belief that everyone is deserving of their disposition and for each instance they find themselves in.
Deep down...
Deep, deep, DEEP down, buried under all that encompasses Suzaku's hardened, steely exterior there is a very sad man who has seen many of his plans fail to come into fruition. A life filled with disappointment many unexpected dips, twists and turns, Suzaku has become a bringer of justice and one who passes judgement. Showing no mercy, he quickly tosses those he meets into one of two categories, which have various labels.
There is a very heavy weight on Suzaku's consciousness that he carries with him each day. Many question why the old geezer hasn't kicked the bucket yet and most can't say for sure why he hasn't... but one thing is certain. His fiery passion is burning brightly and there is a goal he has to reach even if he is dwindling at the end of his life.
Village: Uzushiogakure
History/Background: Suzaku was born where present-day Konoha stands, though at the time of his birth it was merely part of the Land of Fire during the warring eras before the coming of Rikudo Sennin. Suzaku was drafted to fight with his clan at age six, forced to fight other children and adults as well. That was simply how things were. Clans were never at peace, families fought each other like brutes over land, food, and wealthy possessions. Clans who eventually allied with other surrounding clans formed the fragile borders of what eventually came to be the countries of the present day. Each day the borders would move a few inches with the constant wars never providing a stable period for more than a few weeks.
A dozen hard fought years flew into the rear-view of Suzaku's life. He was born into the small Yatagarasu Clan, a people with a dwindling name at Suzaku's birth. They were actually one of the original clans who formed the Land of Fire, a very old name dating back several hundred years. However, Suzaku is the last of his clan. Being as old as he is, the others died during these warring times. As fate would have it, Suzaku eventually grew very tired and fed up with the state of the world and how every day was another fight for survival, with each stable border drawn or alliance made another was broken. He dreamed of stability for the world, and began finding much time to observe humans and the way they acted, coupled with their tendency toward war and conflict. He paid special attention to human emotions, especially arrogance, and began noticing trends in how conflict would begin and end.
The life of a Shinobi took a toll on the young Suzaku's mind. He withdrew himself from the world, leaving his clan and home country in his early twenties in search for peace. After a long journey over many years, he came to where present day Uzushiogakure is located. It was here that Suzaku would meditate among the whirlpools.. something about their spiral shape and spinning nature sparked his curiosity.
Destiny paid him a visit at this location, as it was in the premature village of Uzushiogakure among its many whirlpools that Suzaku came into contact with Rikudo Sennin. The two conversed for days with each other, sharing ideals and finding a common ground that both enjoyed with each other. They quickly became close friends, each fueling the other's devotion to change the world. A friendly rivalry brewed, and the two left on equal terms in different directions, determined to meet once again after each spread their will to the world.
Despite the ambitious nature of Suzaku, after his encounter with the Sage he led a very quiet, simple life. He had a small cottage nearby Uzushio, and started a small garden that grew quite large over the years. He became a doctor of sorts, using natural remedies to cure what ailed his patients. Here he meditated and found inner peace, and in doing so he became content with himself and the world, accepting its problems for what they were. His method of changing the world became a simple one, he would set a good example for those around him and spread positivity to those who entered his life, offering advice to those in need.
In his garden he grew a variety of plants, one of which was only native to the Land of Ash, and even so it was a very rare plant at the time. He grew a plethora of these rare plants, as they were his favorite as a child and he felt a very good energy whenever they were near. He thought of plants akin to people, treating them as one in the same. However he noted one major difference between the two; plants did not have desires. They are both life, but one is content with just that, living, and the other seems to
desire. Suzaku pondered the origins of human desire for quite some time.
After wondering of the impacts human desire had on the world, he realized that he was not content with his simple life as he thought he was. And so Suzaku left the Land of Ash in order to pursue his quest for knowledge. The day after Suzaku decided his quest was not over, Rikudo Sennin returned to his home village in search of Suzaku, and upon entering his garden to look for him,
he found a very peculiar fruit...No one heard from Suzaku for a long time. The wars were reaching a climax, and no one was safe. Even if you did not side with a clan, it was not safe to travel alone or across clan-controlled areas. Many were killed on sight for fear of spies, others were forced into work as slaves or drafted into a clan's army as foot-soldiers. It was chaos everywhere.
Within less than ten years, order came to the entire continent. The wars subsided over time, starting from Uzushiogakure, which became the first established village. A mass migration from the continent to the islands lying off the coast came as the Sage's fame grew. Those who disagreed with his peaceful ways and/or the practice of molding chakra flocked to these islands which became the Land of Water, others left to the southern island of the Land of Iron. Eventually peace was established as the Sage's use of chakra left the world in awe. He spread his teachings and the art of using chakra to the world; it was his gift to it for listening to his dream.
Suzaku returned to Uzushiogakure as the Sage's reign began. He was shocked to learn the origins of how the Sage obtained this power and how he used it to bring peace to the world. When the Sage was confronted with the Juubi and was forced to split it into the Bijuu, he was left weakened and without support. The world had began taking his gift of Chakra and was using it selfishly. The Sage turned to Suzaku, his closest friend, who cared for him and saw him to his death. Suzaku promised to carry on the Sage's will. Little did the Sage know of just how tethered Suzaku's life was to his own.
Suzaku went into hiding for a while, living peacefully in Uzushio while the world slowly fell back into chaos. Suzaku watched as the Sage's sons sparked a war over their father and his homeland. As the First Shinobi World War was declared, Suzaku remained in Uzushiogakure and pleaded for neutrality. Eventually that became impossible, as the Land of Ash turned into a battlefield... As war closed in from all angles, and the first Uzukage, the younger Senju son of the Sage fell in battle to his elder brother, the Uchiha, it seemed to all that Uzushiogakure would become nothing more than a memory and the surrounding countries were to swallow it up into their borders.
Suzaku came out of no where. He was not world-renowned, no one knew his name, few had ever heard of the Yatagarasu before this. He was a simple man of nature and philosophy who ended up getting involved with the most powerful man to ever exist, and in the moment the news the younger son had passed, Suzaku knew his potential and what he must do. Using his own personal techniques that he developed after learning the Sage's knowledge, he pushed back each army out of Uzushiogakure, and saved the center of the village from destruction. All who lived during this time remember the day that Suzaku Yatagarasu revealed himself as the carrier of the Sage's Will, and from that day Suzaku has led Uzushiogakure through some of its darkest times, though his light pierces through..
Tools: Suzaku carries little to nothing, a seal on his left hand containing explosive tags and flash tags, a seal on his right hand to summon his staff. He uses no kunai or shuriken.
Jiyakurei no Shiyujiyou (Staff of Youth) - A long rod inscribed with a seal composed of Yin and Yang chakra. This was one of the very first Fuuinjutsu invented, with the potential to 'seal' or 'unseal' things. Basic functions include unsealing doors or locks, however this also applies to chakra-based seals, as it can effectively activate or deactivate a seal. In addition, a single technique or object may be sealed into the staff at any time, whose properties are then reflected by the staff. Only one thing can be sealed at a time, and when another is sealed within the rod the former is effectively spat out. To seal a human within the staff requires they be unconscious.
Chakra Nature: Yin & Yang
Kekkei Genkai: Hohoho I bet you thought he was gonna have a Kekkei Genkai didn't you,
well he doesn't...
Hiden Jutsu: Ningen no Hikari
The Light of ManSeeing as the Yatagarasu clan was formed in the old days before Rikudo Sennin spread the ways of molding Chakra, they have no Kekkei Genkai. However, Suzaku himself has invented an exclusive Hiden Jutsu, the Ningen no Hikari or the
Light of Man.
The Light of Man is a peculiar technique in which it is made purely of a bright white chakra, born of Yin and Yang chakra. This technique was modeled after Rikudo Sennin's Creation of All Things, however the technique was never up to par with its parent Jutsu. After refining the Ningen no Hikari it took the form of a white flame, and gave off an enormous warmth, but did not burn what it touched.
The Ningen no Hikari is born from what he and the Sage believed they could feel in some way, from everything around them, living or non. They believed that each object gave off light in the form of a frequency. After much personal meditation each man grew able to feel the light coming off of everything around them, not just the visible light bouncing off of objects. Without the need for the normal five physical senses, each were able to perceive their surroundings with the utmost perfection to the finest detail.
The Sage called this the Soul, and combined with physical essence formed the basis of Chakra, so the Sage believed that everything carried its own unique chakra. Suzaku said otherwise, simply stating that all matter consisted of a single substance, that substance being light itself. Suzaku concluded that everything gave off its own unique light that could be perceived by those who could understand it. From this basic principle Suzaku altered from the Sage's path, and with the Sage's instruction on how to mold chakra, he began to experiment with the basis of Ninjutsu and the light from all things.
From the knowledge of knowing that every person gives off a unique light, he meditated for countless hours, letting go of all attachments and focusing only on his own personal light. Once finding it, he became attuned to it, and was able to perceive it in the physical world. Now, after mastering the Ningen no Hikari, there is a constant white hue coming from Suzaku, though only sensors can truly notice it. This light leaves his body and blends with all the other light in the area, which actually makes the area around him always seem a tad brighter than it really is due to the constant white light. Everything that his light touches, he can sense. This gives him a sphere of influence coming off his body, allowing him constant surveilance of the area around him.
The Light of Man, as Suzaku noted, made up everything. Thus, in theory, anything could be created from it. However, Suzaku was never up to par with the Sage in that creative department however he condensed the Light of Man into a highly energetic, spontaneous form reminiscent of a flame. the flame is volatile to the touch, never setting anything ablaze but causing a slow disintegration by dispersing matter back into light. It would take roughly two hours to disintegrate a 100kg object, so being attacked by this is not necessarily fatal, and it is a chakra-exhausting form of the Ningen no Hikari.
Special Traits: The Yatagarasu Clan, a very old clan indeed, were a physically adept clan who were known for their awareness, resilience, and physical dominance in battle. Much of those in the clan celebrated great strength and never was there a Yatagarasu who didn't once boast about their impressive speed or agility. In his old age, Suzaku possesses none of these physical traits, aside from the acute awareness. Despite this, after learning of the ways of chakra from the Sage himself, he has found an immense amount of it at his disposal, which he carefully and properly has learned how to mold with refined skill. In addition to this Suzaku invented the art of using only one hand to form hand seals, as opposed to the Sage who used none most of the time. Atop his awareness and chakra control is his wisdom which has come from years and years of life experience, his one tool he holds with pride.
JutsuName: Ningen no In (Seal of Man)
Rank: S
Range: Passive
Nature: Yin&Yang
Type: Fuuinjutsu
Effect: Seals Suzaku's chakra constantly on a structure of multiple seals tattooed onto his back, and on his staff. Upon release, the seal returns his youth to him temporarily, enabling him to fight at his full potential. The seal's effects last a maximum of thirty minutes per day. The seal can be activated or deactivated at will, however the total time the seal is active will not exceed thirty minutes per day.
Weakness: When the seal is deactivated/runs out of chakra after 30 minutes, Suzaku reverts back to his normal body, that of an old man, and is met with great physical fatigue.
Name: Kokoro no Hikari (Light of the Heart)
Rank: D-S
Range: Long
Nature: Yin-Yang
Type: Ninjutsu
Effect: The user intensifies the faint white glow the Ningen no Hikari naturally exudes from their body by holding a single hand seal. Based on the time holding the seal the glow will intensify to a certain density of light, depending on the will of the user and the amount of chakra used. The pool of light that is formed is dense enough to cause intense heat around the user. After holding the seal for five seconds, the pool of light intensifies into the form of white flames, the intensity of the light becoming enough to cause a slow disintegration of whatever it comes into contact with.
From there, the user can manipulate the pool of light they have created into various forms, including shapes (weaponry), arcs of light, spheres, etc. This may require additional hand seals depending on what is formed.
Weakness: The time requirement for forming the pool of light before light manipulation is possible is the largest weakness of the technique. *Note that his light-based attacks do not move at the speed of light and are slightly faster than normal Raiton techniques
Name: Shyogorei (Guardian Spirit)
Rank: D-S
Range: 10 yards
Nature: Yin-yang
Type: Ninjutsu
Effect: After using Kokoro no Hikari the user is able to form barriers of varying degrees depending on how long its parent technique is held for. If condensed into its flame form, this technique will damage anything that comes into contact with it. The barriers can be molded to fit the needs of the situation into shapes such as domes, walls, etc.
Weakness: Requires Kokoro no Hikari to be used first
Name: Mandou (Buddhist Lantern Festival)
Rank: A
Range: 10 yards
Nature: Yin-Yang
Type: Ninjutsu
Effect: In instances of emergency Suzaku can release an intense amount of condensed Ningen no Hikari in their flame state all around him, causing damage to anyone within the area, however the true nature of this ability is to create Ningen no Hikari for quick manipulation when there is an instance that they cannot wait a full five seconds to form the necessary pool of light.
Weakness: Due to the speed that chakra is needed to be released from the body not only is this a costly technique but it causes pain along the user's Tenketsu. This technique can only be used twice per every 60 second period, though two uses within a single minute alone will cause strenuous pain and a a hefty chakra cost.
Name: Kokoro no Tsurugi (Sword of the Heart)
Rank: C-B
Range: -
Nature: Yin-Yang
Type: Ninjutsu
Effect: By generating dense light around the user's finger(s) or hand(s) and applying shape manipulation, incredibly sharp blades of light are formed, acting as sword-like extensions from the user's body, the length of which is determined by the user upon creation.
Converging two of these blades together forms the weapon of pure light known as the Kokoro no Tsurugi, a meter-long glowing blade of white light. The length of the blade can be shifted by the user, and while aiming the tip of the blade at a target, Suzaku can lengthen the blade at drastic speeds in order to turn the Kokoro no Tsurugi into a spear-like attack. However this lengthened form cannot be maintained for lengthy periods so the sword retracts after attempting to spear a target.
Weakness: More of a support technique to create weaponry, the spear-attack cannot change directions and is a head-on strike
Name: Meimou (Illusion)
Rank: D-C
Range: 15 yards
Nature: Yin-Yang
Type: Genjutsu
Effect: Suzaku manipulates light around him to alter his appearance. This can be extended to others and his surroundings but the more he alters his surroundings the more chakra is used and the more concentration required.
Weakness: Touching Suzaku will end this Genjutsu, limited range
Name: Toushisei (Transparency)
Rank: C-B
Range: -
Nature: Yin-Yang
Type: Ninjutsu/Genjutsu
Effect: By manipulating light around him Suzaku can form a clone of light capable of performing Jutsu. The clone also has the ability to feign jutsu by projecting light that appears like a technique when in fact it is a harmless illusion. The clone, when destroyed, releases a flash of light which, depending on the density of light used to create the clone, either creates a disorienting flash of light or a more volatile flash that causes minor burns to those in the area and temporary blindness to those who witness it.
Weakness: One-hit-quit
Name: Terikaesu (Reflection)
Rank: D-S
Range: 15 yards or as far as light touches after contact/seal
Nature: Yin-Yang
Type: Genjutsu
Effect: Within fifteen yards of his person Suzaku may create images with his light that appear very real to whoever views them. After establishing a seal on the target via physical contact the images are able to speak and interact with those under the Genjutsu, and even feel real. After the formation of the seal the illusions become much more complex and Suzaku can alter the entire visual setting of a battlefield with this. However without contact these are no more than petty illusions to distract the target.
Weakness: Not very powerful without the seal, breaking the seal disrupts and ends the Genjutsu
Name: Subete ga hikari-tatchi ga hai ni genshÅ (All Which Light Touches Reduced to Ash)
Rank: S
Range: All the Ningen no Hikari touches
Nature: Yin-Yang
Type: Ninjutsu
Effect: Creates a blinding flash of light, disorienting all who see it. When the flash ends all which it reached it will be consumed in the flame form of Ningen no Hikari. The flames slowly disintegrate all they touch, however it is as simple as moving away from the flames as they do not burn or spread as they are not true flames. The nature of this technique lies in the creation of flames for manipulation, however it is one of his most potent defensive maneuvers. Those caught in close range (within three yards) will be severely damaged, others will receive damage varying on how far from the user they are.
Weakness: What light cannot touch is not affected, in other words shadows. Also, the damage done scales with distance from Suzaku. Requires an
immense amount of chakra leaving Suzaku drained of energy both mentally and physically.
Name: Jiyouen Taido (Burning Enlightenment)
Rank: S
Range: -
Nature: Yin-Yang
Type: Ninjutsu
Effect: For either two minutes with the Seal of Man released or five minutes normally, Suzaku enters a state of utter and complete awareness combined with perfect synchronization and control over the five senses. All that the Light of Man touches becomes subject to his influence, as shards of flaming light appear within the Light of Man, all manipulated by Suzaku. The shards form spontaneously unless formed manually by Suzaku.
While in this state Suzaku gains an incredible boost to his speed, strength and endurance. Though when not using the Seal of Man in conjunction, exerting extreme force and excess speed cause much fatigue and bodily harm to Suzaku's elderly frame.
Weakness: Fatigue during the technique's duration and an enormous amount of exhaustion when it ends. This is only used if Suzaku has no other options left at his disposal.
