na man I'm with you, so pumped

*nods* It's been ages since I found a decent Naruto RP. No offense to any of the others, but the ones I have seen elsewhere are kinda lacking in quality. At least in terms of maintaining power levels, character development, spelling...
I'm stopping the instant it goes into religion lol. That's something that will never end well in this medium. Here's a badass pic of George Washington...

^ Too many differences.

Enough similarities for my point to made.

@Byrd Man, Yup. Like, I firmly believe in right and wrong and it is the responsibility of the American people to vote for representatives who will put those things of right/wrong into law; but the constitution itself is not a method of determining right or wrong. It's a method of government.

I don't think Israel under the Roman Empire is at all comparable to the Thirteen Colonies under Great Britain.

Israel was land under the control of the Roman Empire. They detested their rulers. They had no ability to vote in Rome's senate unless they went out to gain Roman citizenship.

It's not the same definitely. But there are similarities to be found.

@Dedonus I agree. That's why it irritates me.

We should argue about the war of independence instead.

Ooh! Yes!

This is less focused on the actual event, but more focused on people's opinions. First of all, just a disclaimer, I am an American and a Christian. I love both by faith and my country.

That said! It annoys the crap outta me when other Christians or people state that we were founded as a Christian Nation. We weren't. No where in the Bible does it state that Rebellion is okay. In fact if we look at the whole taxes thing...looking at what Jesus said when the Jews asked him about paying taxes to the Roman Empire (Kinda similar situation to the Americas being owned by Britain thought not entirely), Jesus said, "Give unto Caesar's what is Caesars."

So...I actually would say that the actions of the Founding Fathers were not in line with what Jesus taught at all. But that's just my opinion...

You have a point, but don't forget the CSA seceded first as a knee-jerk reaction to Lincoln's election. They just assumed he would try to abolish slavery as their president, and they were probably right but they fired the first shots. But we could be here all day debating the topic to no avail.

Very true. By cooler heads I mean on both sides. Haha.

THough I do find it incredibly hypocritical that just a few years before all this there were Northern States thinking about seceding as well for their own reasons.

Goddamn Northerners trying to treat human beings like.. well, human beings. Such aggression!

The argument has always strongly been that even though the North was morally correct; they were constitutionally wrong. I'm neutral on the issue.

Personally from my study of history during this time period, Slavery could have been abolished peacefully had cooler heads prevailed. It would have lasted longer most likely, but it would have been abolished without all those deaths. Essentially its just looking at the trends. Slaves were already running away during this Time period. The economic sustainability of it was decreasing. Other States could have 'embargoed' the Slave states...

Hindsight is 20/20 though.

@Pasta: Seems kinda unfair to wrong him for that though. He was trying to do something that a lot of people in the country were against doing. He had to be a little forceful if he ever wanted to get it done.

Sorry, it's my Southern Heritage coming out. Also my libertarian politics, but I'll just shut up now since I don't want this to turn into argument central as this thread has a habit of doing.
*Waits Patiently for the IC*

Haha. I'm probably a little too eager for this one...
