*Still looking at Drake, I nod and adjust my smile gently.*

Like I said, I knew I was missing something.
Oh I just realized that, since we're playing a little fast and loose with physics, that if Hymn manages to start making the portals non-identical, she could start fucking with the chirality of particles that come through. Oh man once she grows a little it's going to be antimatter zeit

*I've begun to tense, my eyes and ears perked for stimuli, apparently primed for some uncertain action*

I understand this is well outside propriety, but you're all rather blasé about what seems to me to be a rather important issue. If I had the opportunity to help my sibling against someone both maniacal and twisted, I don't think I would waste the opportunity. In fact, I'm somewhat certain at least one of them is trying to actively kill us here: I'm beginning to think I should get involved in all this myself, if only to try and avoid the predicted fatality.

*I ask the newcomer, turning my body from Data to address Drake.*

Hymn of Predestination, charmed. I'm sure I'm missing something here, can you fill me in?
@Legend

Do you mean you are actively guaranteeing it by some capability, or you know that they will not harm us without your intervention? I am curious as to your talents, beyond what is no doubt prodigious research ability. And skillfully dodging questions.
@Legend

Very true, and only becoming more and more apparent as we talk. Forgive me, if I'm being more than a little workmanlike in our acquaintance: I'm a little afraid that, whoever is out there, trying to kill each other, will cut out rendezvous short. It wouldn't be the first time two unaccountably high-wattage individuals might end a fruitful acquaintance, and I'm afraid I'm still recovering from my last brush with violence.

*I trace a line across my neck with a genteel wink.*

Decapitation. The new body's wonderful, but neither my wallet nor my motor skills have emerged without temporary, superficial damage.
@Legend

I never asked if it was or not. You'll forgive me if I decide to wait to decide for myself, though.
@Legend

Yours seems a lot less useful to my purposes, I think I'll continue to use my own. I need to analyze information, and be able to communicate the differences between societies back to the Hierophany, by Mandate. Having the word successful help me there would be very helpful.
@Legend

Oh, I'd certainly say so. I've always thought a society is successful if the people who make it up consider it so, consider their lives satisfactory and sit high on any given hierarchy of needs. The Hierophany's citizens consider it successful, in large part, and are happy with the way of things. There are richer societies, more healthy, less violent or more egalitarian societies, but it passes my judgments even excepting my adherence to the Faith.
@Legend

Is being unusual a good or a bad thing? Both in general, and in this case in particular, I mean. In the Hierophany, it's almost sinful: the Hierophant demands the service and loyalty of all those striving to create a New Jerusalem, to not fit into his design is to go against Sacrifice, Agonist and Itinerant. It's been a pleasure, to learn that this is not the necessary arrangement of successful societies. But now I'm rambling, aren't I?
@Legend

Oh I see, being exceptional runs in the family. I doubt I could boast either of my parents would be much suited for a place like this.

*I cast my eyes about, admiring the scenery.*

There's not enough gold. Or slaves. And it's far too festive, even leaving out the violence.
