It's incredible how if you give someone just the tiniest bit of power over others they'll turn into the most self-righteous, selfish, impatient fuckers you will ever meet.

How are some writers on this site still incapable of knowing how a comma works?! It's like the second easy piece of punctuation you learn about as a kid!!!

It'll always be confusing to me when some people regard two or three sentences in an IC post as putting in effort with the writing, yet they consider themselves at a casual/advanced level.

That's a nice thought, but it wouldn't be fair to up the writing standard just for myself. I suppose it's up to the GM, but there's no need to accomodate so much just for me.
@BeautyoftheDark

Not you specifically, but there's no need to apologise. People have different writing levels, I just misjudged what level was acceptable in this roleplay, and it wasn't what I was used to.
@BeautyoftheDark

In all honesty, I thought the writing level would be higher. The lower standard is distracting me too much from the story, so I thought it would be best if I bowed out.

A sudden burst of speed and sensation of weightlessness knocked the breath momentarily from Nina's lungs, and she had a brief moment of confusion before realising what had happened. Pietro had whisked her back across the room safely, vial still in hand.

"Thanks." She murmured breathlessly, taking in the cuts that had suddenly appeared on his body. In fact, the more she looked, the more injuries she was seeing from everyone else. Magneto was definitely doing some damage with his metal. Still, this wasn't deterring Pietro, and he was making good of his promises to the X-Men. Taking out Scarlet Witch as she targeted Nina, and then tackling Magneto to the floor. Nina blinked in surprise as he decked his father straight in the face, acting more serious than she had seen before. It couldn't have been easy to do that to one's own father, regardless of the situation.

It seemed that their foes were being taken care of quite well; Allison and Pietro were keeping Magneto more than occupied; Cecily and Scarlet Witch had both been knocked out by their brother, and the rest of the group had decimated the computers with brute force and retro 8-bit games. However, before Nina could even react to Guin, Laine caught her attention. As did the gun in his hand, and the girl he was pointing it at, holding her close. For the second time in this mission, Nina's heart skipped a beat.

She'd promised Cassandra that she'd look out for Carolina during the mission, and yet here they were, at a literal Mexican stand-off. Jaw clenching as Laine requested the vial in her hand, she glanced at it momentarily before looking back to him.

"Alright... just... don't hurt her." She said softly, walking towards him carefully with her hands raised, the plague still clenched tightly in her left one. Of course, she had no intention of giving up the plague. But the others were preoccupied at the moment, and someone had to help Carolina. Thankfully for Nina, most of her foes tended to underestimate her small stature and surprising strength. Even if Laine didn't - she was going to put up a fight.

As she got just near enough to pass the plague to him, Nina instead ran the last few steps towards him, striking out with her free hand in an attempt to get the gun away. While he was still clinging onto Carolina, Nina had knocked the glock from his hand, and is skittered across the floor.

"If you want it, come and get it." She snapped, glancing at Carolina and hoping that the girl would wrestle free herself - if she got away, she could take the plague away to safety while Nina dealt with Laine.

Although he would have liked nothing more than to jump into the elevator alongside Damon, Charlie couldn't bring himself to leave with Ayita and Cassandra locked in battle.

"Guys, c'mon!" The protest was said weakly, as if he already knew it would fall on deaf ears. At least with Ayita, anyway. She seemed to be gripped by the lust of the hunt, and Charlie was in no hurry to drag her off Avalanche and lose an arm in the process. The trouble was, he was of no use to them at the moment - he didn't have enough control over his fire - or ice - to attack his enemies without hurting Cassandra or Ayita in the process. Instead, he'd just have to act as back-up... readying his palms, Charlie stood perpendicular to the corridor wall, ready if anyone else was to show up at either end of the corridor. The thought of Othello and Sabretooth tied up upstairs flashed across his mind, along with the body of Oshea. It was only a matter of time before they came lose and tracked them down.

It seemed the ice was finally starting to break - after a bumpy start, it seemed the O.M.E.N Agents were loosening up a bit. Either that, or it was all a front, but either way, Alec relaxed a bit himself, even cracking a grin at the other jokes being tossed around. However, after the video conference began, his smile quickly slid away. What they were saying... could it even be true? A Norse Goddess? Of the Underworld, no less, here to wreak havoc on their Earth? As a druid said her piece on screen (Druids? They were a thing as well? Alec really needed to brush up on his mythos knowledge.), Alec considered the possibilities. Was this worse than Lucifer, or Altsoba? How many allies did she have? How many foes did she have that were just as old and powerful, and would they help out the poor mortals stuck in the fight?

Leaning forward in his chair as Fergus spoke, Alec pointed at his suggestion.

"Y'know, I like his idea." He began, eyes darting to the newest - and battered - MI13 Agent who had just spoken. "But maybe not a nuke. I'm no expert in the supernatural, but surely you've got people who study mythology and magic? There must be some weaknesses mentioned somewhere in history, regardless of whether she's a God or not." It was a simple suggestion, but he honestly couldn't think of a better one. He was way out of depth here, and these people expected some help from him.

"Agent Murphy was on the tail of somethin' before he went silent. He's presumed dead, and was chasing down a scientist by the name of Edwina Fairfax... not sure if that means anything to you magic folk, but maybe she knows something about Hel that we don't."
Yeah, I'm probably going to drop out of this as well. Sorry folks.

So here they finally were, staring down the man himself. Nina knew the importance of taking him down - not just for their current situation, but also for the future. The world couldn't have a genocidal maniac like Magneto running around, not with the numbers and power that he had. However, the virus was more important at the moment. Noticing the startlingly familiar looking woman behind Magneto, Nina shot a sharp look in Pietro's direction. A mystery sibling, that he just so happened to forget to mention, and was withholding her mutated powers right now? Nina wasn't sure as to whether he was being purposefully vague, or if he was really just this useless. Either way, she'd be having words with both the Professor and Cassandra about him if they were to survive this. Too much had gone unsaid, and they had been walking half-blind into this situation because of him.

Watching carefully as Laine made his way towards Cecily, Nina made her move. With Magneto nice and distracted courtesy of some wicked telekinetic moves by Allison, Nina sprinted past him, laying low as possible to make her way towards her target. Both Laine and Cecily seemed preoccupied with one another, and it was practically child's play to storm up to Cecily; backhanding her roughly across the face and to the floor as she snatched the sealed vial from her hand. This was half of Nina's job done - now she only had to sneak past Magneto again and get the hell out of dodge.

Backing up quickly away from Laine, Nina winced as something connected roughly with the left side of her temple. Sending dots scattering across her vision, the sharp pain gave way to a dull throb, courtesy of whatever metal object had just flown by. Thanks to her durability however, she was saved from concussion - but considering the situation, she was fully aware that things could go south very quickly.

Sending Laine a quick warning glare, that clearly said "Don't follow me", Nina began making her way back across the room, just hoping she kept out of Magneto's attention. Some blood trickled into her eyes as she ran, but that didn't matter - she had the virus, and she would be damned before the Brotherhood got their hands on it again.

Running into Damon and Ayita made Charlie feel a tad more comfortable, what with the whole strength in numbers thing - however, Damon was injured, and Ayita was a... a doe? A deer? A female deer?

"Interesting choice." He muttered, looking at her curiously before his attention was drawn further up the corridor. There were the other two mutants that Quicksilver had mentioned - Avalanche and Toad. Toad reminded him of a nerdier version of those Hunter zombies on Left 4 Dead, while Avalanche... well, it was hard to take him seriously, despite the sinister look upon his face. The guy looked like he was wearing blue spandex and an oversized white condom over his head. Still, it wasn't a great feeling when the ground began to shake.

Stepping forward as Cassandra called for his help, Charlie raised his hands as steadily as he could manage as the room trembled around him, praying silently he wouldn't hit Ayita or Damon's wolves. A massive tongue of fire erupted from his palms and shot through the air like a ball, landing squarely on Avalanche. Toad had hopped away to safety, but Avalanche yelled in pain, stumbling and flailing to put the flames out. While the fire died down quickly, the shaking of the hallway stopped. Charlie's eyes met Avalanche's as the singed and pissed-off mutant glared at him, skin visibly red and shiny.

"Oh man...is the elevator here yet?" He called out nervously to Damon, not taking his eyes from his foe.

"Huh. These guys really don't want to play nice." For Alec, he could have used some niceness. In his not-so-humble opinion, he wasn't back on the clock for work until his ass landed in DC when he had to sweet-talk some politicians into not sending him to whatever hellhole had just opened up - which he knew would fail. Part of being on this plane right now, surrounded by stern O.M.E.N agents, and not really knowing much about what was happening to scare up the "A" word, made Alec feel like this was a one-way trip. His vacation was starting to seem a long, long way away, so he'd be stretching out his prematurely finished one as much as he possibly could.

"Damn... I sure hope the rest of you guys don't have such large sticks up your asses." He muttered, fishing out his hipflask from the carry-on backpack he'd brought with him. His nerves were pretty unsettled with apprehension, not that he'd let anyone else on the plane know. Taking a quick swig, his eyes darted towards the sarcastic Agent, glancing at the picture of Ms. Fairfax. She seemed innocent enough, and pretty bright. But as Alec - and any law official with common sense - knew, this information was hardly putting him off the scent. Leaning forward slightly, he looked the Agent in the eye.

"You makin' assumptions about our murder and murderer already? See, last I checked, in the fucked up world that contains supernatural beings right now, writin' a potential suspect off because she's a young, pretty red-head scientist is a pretty piss-poor way of actually doin' your job right. Now you guys can give me the stink eye all you want, whether because I'm with the bureau or because I'm still enjoying the last bits of my holiday with a stiff drink - but I still know the basics on investigation." Tossing the pad back to the Agent, he leaned back and took another swig of his flask before tucking it away back into his bag. "Murphy was lookin' into her for a good reason, and I couldn't give a damn if she was related to Einstein himself. She needs to be investigated. That is, of course, if you guys were taught how to do that in Ghost-Huntin' school." Hell, he had to finish on a dig towards O.M.E.N sooner or later; he was sticking up for FBI, CIA and even S.H.I.E.L.D Agents everywhere. Well... just to this handful of assholes, anyway.

"You geniuses got the video chat workin' yet?" He called to the front of the plane, beginning to feel antsy. He wanted this conference over with, and quickly. It was about time he got filled in on what happened anyways. The least they could do before throwing him straight into the flames would be to let him know how the fire started in the first damned place.

Nina could understand Pietro's answer - and his reservations behind potentially killing his family. She sympathised with him in that, and certainly didn't expect him to land a killing blow himself. But there would be trouble abound if he interfered in what could possibly be fatalities rather than prisoners at the end of this mission - in fact, they were already one all in terms of deaths. However, as the elevator arrived at their destination, such thoughts had to wait until the time potentially came. They had enough stuff to deal with at the moment.

Nodding in affirmation at Marygold as she gave her suggestion, Nina made a beeline towards the metal doors, only glancing towards Guin and Wanda for a moment before deciding the situation could be handled well enough without her. Knowing Guin, she'd probably be annoyed at Nina's intervention. Although, Wanda was saying some odd things? And then she... attacked Laine? Nina physically paused now, confused at the sudden shift in dynamics.

"What is happening?" She muttered to herself, eyes having followed Laine as he flew across the room and crashed into the wall. Was this supposed to be yet another mind trick? Odd choice, if that was the case. And now Laine was marching across the room to enter the key code to the currently immovable doors himself. It would appear her strength wasn't needed at the moment. But things seemed to be moving extremely quickly in the room, with the blondie suddenly losing it and throwing both the strangely-acting Laine and Wanda across the room. Nina hadn't recall any telekinetic powers in Allison's file, but it was a useful addition to her mutation. As long as she didn't lose her temper too much, that was. Irregardless of this new bit of information, it was Allison's other power that took most of Nina's attention. The virus was leaving soon.

"Damn it! Get those doors open, we don't have time!" She yelled, heading to the doors herself. She'd take care of Magneto the best she could - from what she'd gathered about everyone else's mutation, she could withstand a battering of metal far better than anyone else. Hopefully this Cecily didn't have a tricky power to deal with too.

"Oookay... so it is a free-for-all then." He muttered in response, following Cassandra closely down the stairwell and into impending doom. From the stuff he was hearing over the radio it sounded like things were already getting a little messy down there... but surely they outnumbered them, with one of the Brotherhood dead and two more hog-tied and harmless? Honestly, did Magneto really pose that much of a threat against so many of them all at once?

Already apprehensive at what lay below the pair, Charlie shook his hands, attempting to stop the cold spreading over them. Fire would be more useful at the moment. Well, he thought, anyway. It was easier to summon flame anyways.

"You just tell me when and where to light my fires - it's becoming a little easier to think about doing it now." He added in a grim tone, still thinking on Oshea and that awful thought of it he had just been a bit quick in roasting Sabretooth, maybe he'd be okay. Regardless, he didn't want it to happen again. Not tonight.
