Current Today I reached the conclusion that, if presented with an exact duplicate of herself, one of my characters would DEFINITELY hit that.

They're not LONG chapters; but the fact I've managed to right 2 meh and 4 half decent ones in 4 days makes me very happy with myself.

Rost sighed, shaking his head, "You misunderstand what I am doing, Amaya. The seal is not on his power to control shadows, it is on the other half of his personality." he explained firmly, a hint of disappointment in his voice, "You assume too much and know too little. It is not multiple seals, but a single anchoring spell; it will prevent the violent side from assuming control. Eventually the two halves of his personality should become unified. Without that Shadow of his able to steal his body, he will not require physical force to contain him nor will he be at risk of going rampant and assaulting the people around him."

The scribe placed his book on the ground, opening it to the marked page as he removed a set of brushes from the hard case, "I am the LAST person you should be worried about trying to lock away what makes someone special, stealing their identity. The legacy I inherited, this book," he nodded towards his grimoir, "Have a singular purpose; to help those in need and protect the magic contained within from those who would seek to do harm. That said, an incident some time in the last century or so warranted precautionary measures, it is heavily warded against demons. Mason, do not under ANY circumstances attempt to make physical contact with this grimoir."
My vote is for the golem. Having an artificial creature as an agent could be interesting.
My random knowledge of magic in fiction is exceeded only by my encyclopedic knowledge of RWBY.
Some sort of glamour spell?
@KatherinWinter

The cognitive dissonance between Mason's humanity and the demonic corruption on his soul manifesting as a split personality with control over his powers?

At least, that's what I've been assuming.
@Searat I've always been partial to golems and constructs in general, not sure why. I guess I just think robots are cool.

I mean, the original demon according to biblical mythology was the serpent in the garden of eden. He didn't kill anyone, he tricked Eve into eating from the tree of knowledge. Deception, trickery, and deals are the domain of demons.

In most mythology at least, there are demon equivalents in other mythologies which behave more in the manner that Shadow does, such as the Oni and Jotnar.

IMHO It could all be hand waved by saying Demon is a broad category of supernatural creature rather than a specific species.
In fact, most (mythological) demons are fairly passive, they influence the world by making deals and leading mortals astray rather than directly sowing chaos or killing.

The idea of demons outright killing of their own accord and being mindlessly violent is a fairly modern one.

"I need to correct you, Director, Mason is not possessed. He is, himself, the demon. A corrupted human soul, how he got this way no one can say for sure. He may have sold his soul, or it may have been stolen and tainted. In fact, he seems to be experiencing some form of dissociative identity disorder; his demonic powers are manifesting as an alternate personality. Mason himself, I believe, is perfectly harmless." Rost explained, setting the hard case down and opening it to reveal a quill pen and several bottles of ink. "Agent Amaya, correct?" the blonde man asked, turning and looking up towards the water elemental, "Just in time, I could use your assistance. Would you be so kind as to keep Mason calm while I place a spell on him to keep his powers from manifesting of their own accord again?"

The scientist returned his attention to Mason, "I need to put the spell on you, for your safety as much as for ours. If it will make you feel better, Amaya can stay with you through the process of the spell being applied."
@KatherinWinter@Blueflame

"I can make sure you don't hurt anyone anymore. It's going to take some time to get the spell right, and I'll need to repair the spell daily until I do, but I'm ready to start whenever you are." Rost explained calmly, reaching into his jacket and retrieving a small hard case. "The process is simple, I paint the runes onto your back, say a few words to activate the spell, and your more aggressive half will be supressed without interfering with your powers. It might not fully block him out at first though, I need time to tailor the spell for you specifically; but after awhile when I've got it right I can tattoo the finalized spell onto you to make it permanent."
