So about half a month ago, I had an RP that was based around highschool students with magic problems. It was setup up as a cross between a visual novel and action series as the main character was a male (controlled by on RP'er) while there were several other girls (all controlled by the other RP'er) and it focused on the interaction between the male lead and the several female characters in a world where magic existed for a select few and how these magic users also had to deal with monsters that were in hiding.

The male lead was, up to the events of the RP, a normal highschool student who was best friends with one of these magic users (unknowingly). This character had a dormant magic potential and was under protection of both his best friend and the other few magic users within the school. After being attacked by one of these monsters, he awoke his magical abilities and from there, it was meant to essentially be about finding out what the monsters were doing, as well as interacting with the several female leads. See, essentially a visual novel with action elements lol.

So, this RP only got about two pages in before my partner disappeared, and I have to say I was pretty sad, cause even though the RP wasn't at the highest level of writing or even that great of a plot, it was still entertaining for me to just enjoy a nice fun RP like that. So, needless to say, as the title indicates that I wish to retry this RP.

What I'm looking for is someone who is either wanting to play the lead character, or be willing to play secondary characters (of any gender pairings) and essentially just run through a similar plot and hopefully recapture the essence of the old RP to emulate it's fun nature.

So, for anyone who's interested, let me explain how magic works. Essentially every magic has an "element" and "style." Elements don't have to be the basic "fire, water, wind, earth, etc" but can go from steel, to pure energy, to even things like digital powers (think infamous second son type stuff). Styles are basically how the magic works. Do you simply manipulate your element? Shape it into tools and weapons? Create minions to fight for you? Do you augment physical attacks with your element? How do you use your element of choice? That's what the style is.

As for rules, I have simple rules.
1. Posting: Post at least once a day, and please let me know if you're not gonna be able to post for a certain amount of time.
2. Let me know if you want to try and change something or drop, don't just stop posting.
3. Mature content/Romance/Gore: While romance is gonna be a largely prevalent element (this is a visual novel-esque RP) I would like to also allow the plot to be the major focus. I hate when RP's become just sex scenes and/or gore fests with little substance. I prefer not to do sex stuff, but I won't deny that from my partner if it's not a recurring thing.
4. Grammar: I have a lot of spelling mistakes due to just typing fast and/or missing my "N" key on my keyboard, so I don't mind small mistakes like "teh" "jsut" and other such small mistakes as this doesn't ruin the sentence, but of course have decent grammar.
5. High Casual+: I prefer low-mid advanced level writing, but I can work with high casual writers and upward in writing levels please.

So yeah, that's pretty much it. I hope that I can get some interest going for this as I'd love to revisit this RP idea and hopefully revitalize it. Send me a PM or post here if you're interested.

So, first off let me explain the "unique take" aspect of the title. The unique take is that instead of having us each control a character or multiple major characters, one of us shall be playing a singular character. This character will be the "main character" of the RP. Whether they're important to other stories or even the world itself is irrelevant. The "plot" of this RP is mainly a setting for which to establish the main character, and the RP is to chronicle their story. and no one elses. Think of it like Skyrim or something, very much like a videogame where the main character's action determines the story instead of just going through a set of pre-established plot points. Of course there is a major story line, but it's up to the main character whether they wish to tackle it or not. This is one role, the other role is that of the "GM." The GM, once the world is established, contrls the world, events, and basically everything around the main character. It's essentially going to work like this. The GM would present a situation with choices and actions, and depending on the choices annd/or actions taken byt he main character, the GM would then create a new path for the main character to travel. Again, it's pretty much like a video game type of setting. Hopefully the way I explained it made sense, but I'll try to put it down to a simpler format mainly so I cna summarize what I said without confusing myself. One person will control a "main character" that does stuff, the other will play the "GM" who controls the world itself, secondary characters, etc. One person presents a situation, the other reacts, and based on the reaction, the gm presents more situations and choices that would result from the initial situation and actions, and rinse and repeat.

Anyways, I hope that makes sense. Now with that out of the way, let me move on to my two RP ideas.

First idea, War Torn Fields: War Torn Fields is an RP loosely based in judeo-christian religion, using the setting of earth as a warzone for the forces of god and lucifer to do battle, however there isn't a black and white, good vs evil concept here. Lucifer, at least in this setting, isn't evil. Instead, Lucifer is one of the original fallen angels that rebelled against god for not being given a choice to willfully serve god, as the humans were given. With this, the first "great" war occurred, with obvious results. Now, Lucifer and God are once more at battle, but due to humans this time. Long story short, humans created a device that essentially recreated the "big bang" but instead of creating a second universe, they instead angered god and he was about to bring down his fury upon humanity for trying to commit god like acts, but Lucifer used this chance to open up a portal from hell to earth through the device (there's a reason I said "loosely" based on religion lol). So, now humans are caught in a war between God and the angels fighting Lucifer and his demons.

It's basically a stalemate for some time, until both Lucifer and God realized they had access to another resource, humanity. Both sides began to take on human soldiers. Lucifer promised power to those that willingly joined, and forced others to join by capturing their families. God promised forgiveness for trying to create a another universe (act of god commited by known god like figures) and eternal paradise after death for those willingly joining, but just outright killed those that refused him. Both sides had appeal to many, so once again, there was a stalemate, until two knew soldiers were introduced, devil contractors and paladins. Devil contractors made deals with demonic spirits. In exchange for their soul (which as long as they didn't die were never in any danger as contractors were immortal to non-holy attacks) devil contractors would recieve immortality to non holy attacks, increased physical abilities, and the power to actually transform into a devil themself and access demonic abilities. Paladins were essentially the answer tot he devil contractors, as paladins were humans who truly fought for righteous causes whole heartedly, and given immunity to non-demonic attacks, immortality, and access to holy armor as well as a holy weapon known as an "avenger" which could take on any form from a sword to modern day weapons.

Instead of creating a stalemate though, this has instead created a breach in the balance. Within either army, there are now power struggles between humans, contractors/paladins, and angels/demons within their respective ranks. Until the contractors/paladins came along, demons/angels were always greater than humans, but with humans having access to holy/unholy powers that rivaled their once superior allies, humans tried to take out contractors/paladins in hope to gain their power, the empowered humans tried to slay angels and demons to become higher ranked within their armies, and the angels and demons now have to contend with 'mortals' for what they thought belonged only to them.

While the war continues, this in fighting among either side is allowing a third faction, a faction comprised of angels, humans, and demons to rise in power, and hopefully over take both armies to free earth from this war and finally create an unrivaled peace for all beings involved.

Where does the lead come in? Well, the main plot would be to find the third faction, work with them, yada yada yada, save the world. But of course, since this is an open ended story, depending on who the main character is, this could merely be a story about a human seeking power within either army, or something else. I want to let the freedom to choose your own path be a prevalent theme in this RP.

Second idea, MMO based RP. So I love series like .hack//, TOME, and other such VR MMORPG type settings, but I don't want to do a plot where some virus starts attacking people in the real world through the game, or people get stuck in the game. Can't we just have a fun videogame RP that's about the GAME, at least at the start. Of course we can introduce more serious plot elements as the story progresses, but I would love to just run an RP that is all fun an games (pun intended) for a little while at least.

Anyways, if you're interested either post any interest/questions you might have here, or send me a PM if you just want to start working details out with me.
Guys I'm really sorry that I have to do this, but I'm not gonna beat around the bush. Long story short, life gave me a big fuck you and I'm not gonna be able to do this RP. Between some money issues and health issues, I'm unable to put in the time that an RP like this would need, so I unfortunately I'm gonna have to drop out of the RP. Sorry to everyone here, especially Viet and Brand. Since Brand the GM here I'm fucking up any possible plot lines Brand had set up, and sorry to Viet since we kind of planned on pairing up.

Wish I could continue, but I know I wouldn't be able to put out advance level content with my situation. Again, sorry and I hope the RP works out for you guys.

Are we starting today? O.O

Aren't we starting later today since Brand has classes or something to deal with?
Alright, I got a much higher response rate then I had expected for this, so for all those that messaged me, thank you, and for those still interested, I'm unfortunately full at the moment. If any space frees up, I'll say so here, but I'm letting the ones who pm'd me first have priority since they messaged me first. Sorry and thank you for the responses :)
Hey, quick question. I was browsing some of the character sheets, the tower mages mainly, and a thought occurred to me. All of the tower mages (viet, headphones, and saltwater) are all about the same age, so would they know each other? I mean if they're all tower mages, or at least spent some time in the tower, then they probably would've at least interacted once or twice.

Of course I could be completely wrong, as I stated before, due to my schedule keeping me in a state where I'm bound to miss a few details on the slightly slow skims I do for each character. Haven't had a chance to sit down and actually read them in depth yet.
Alright, sent you a PM about some generally ideas that I have and we'll go from there. This is still open to others, was hoping to get multiple RP's rolling from this.
Alright, hey to anyone that has decided to open up this thread. My username is Phantom Sekai, but most people just call me Phantom or Sekai for short. Anyway, I'm an advanced level writer that's looking to start up some 1x1 rp'ing again. I've been on and off of 1x1's for the past year or so, and I've been a member of RPG for a few years before the site got it's overhaul and everything. Long story short, I'd like to think of myself as a somewhat experienced writer/RP'er so I'm looking to get someone else that is at least a little experienced to assist me with a 1x1 RP.

I'd like to mention now, that I have no real plots in mind, and I don't do "pairings." I want to make characters and relationships based off a well made story, not make a story based off a pairing of roles someone wants to do. That being said, I do have a list of interests that would probably help anyone reading this decide if they even want to bother at an attempt to work with me.

Interests:
-Fantasy: From ye olden times of swords and sorcery to using magic in the modern age a la Shadowrun, the concept of magic, mythical creatures, and other "fantasy" elements have always been of interests to me.

-Sci-Fi: I like to think of sci-fi as basically the "rational person's" fantasy. Instead of magic, it's some type of special technology or genetic ability that a race develops. Instead of mythical species, we have alien species, etc. Sci-fi to me seems to basically be the standard fantasy story but with a "scientific" edge to it, which is basically the whole point of the word Sci-fi existing, scientific fiction

-Dark/Mature: Okay, first of let me say this. I'm not a fan of smut, but I can deal with it in moderation. I'll explain more on this later, but for now let me explain this one. When I say "mature" I don't mean sex or gore filled violence. I mean stories that are dark and meant for a mature audience. Stories that range from the protagonist of a story being a villain, tell the tale of a hero falling victim to darker thoughts, psychologically complex stories. AKA, I love stories that challenge morality because they're just great. The standard "hero fights the bad guy" story is just fucking boring. But having a hero that has to deal with morally jeopardizing situations just to attempt to defeat the villain, that's interesting.

-Modern Day: While I do enjoy a good ye olden RP every now and then, I prefer to mix the magical/supernatural elements of fantasy with a modern day setting. Stories that involve modern day supernatural occurrences (see Dresden Files book series) just provide such an interesting contrast of situations versus settings that I love.

Alright, that's pretty much it on my interests, now time for rule/what I want frmo my partner.

1. Mature content: As I explained in the dark/mature interest piece, I don't mind smut, but we need moderation. I generally avoid smut if I can cause I just find it to be purposeless, but if my partner insists, I'll deal with it, but I don't want it to be a recurring thing. Same thing for everything else mature. I don't mind dark elements, in fact as I stated before, I love them, but if they're used to often, they'll become overused and boring, and in some scenarios, just annoying or stupid. Too much gore would be the perfect example. If for one scene, a character is depicted as having a limb torn off, that's devastating cause it's such a drastic event, but if people are being disemboweled every few posts, the impact of losing a limb becomes so little in the reader's mind that it's not even bad. In fact, I've had this happen to a character in an old RP of mine, and she said "At least I didn't get ripped to pieces like the other guys." Seriously, if people are getting torn to pieces often, losing an arm is a step up. So, mature stuff, if you really want to do it, please do it in moderation.

2. Posting: I want to be able to at least get a reply to my posts once every 2 days. For a 1x1 RP, I find it crucial to do this because if posting slows down to anything slower than once very other day, some people just stop posting all together. Secondly, I am an advanced writer. That means I want at least a few paragraphs per post on average, or at least enough to go off of. If you just say something to the lines of a character merely reacting to a previous event and offer nothing to move forward, that's useless to me. Like, just reacting to someone saying something is useless. You need to do something that can prompt action in response. Spelling errors are whatever to me. I do the standard "teh" or "jsut" mistakes when I type for a long time at a decently fast pace, so I won't mind your fuckups if you forgive mine lol.

3. Work with me. I have posted my interests, but I want you to voice yours too. I want to work with my partner to develop a story that we're both invested in. It's not good if I'm the only one liking a story, cause most likely what will happen is that my partner will start putting less effort in replies as we move forward and then the RP will just die cause one person wasn't getting what they wanted out of it.

4. I prefer PM rp's just cause it's easier to manage for me.

Also, I want to leave an option available to anyone who is interested in working with me after reading this int check. I have 2 styles of RP'ing. The standard way is for each of us to have a character and move the plot along together. The other way I do things is by having a "main character" role and "world" role. What are these? Well, after working out a basic plot and setting, the one playing the "main character" is essentially just that, the main character. This role has the person controlling one central character and maybe a few NPC's to help move the story along, but for the most part they generally focus on having a single character and acting within the setting and plot. The role of the "world" is once we have established a plot, they control the world itself. They create scenarios for the main character to go through, and will create paths for the characters to follow depending on said character's actions. This is an organic relationship because both roles have to take the other's action into account, and create a reactive response. The world may have a set plan, but if the main character does something unexpected, the world has to change it's plan around. The main character might have a goal in mind, but if the world can veer the main character onto a different path, the main character has to establish a new goal, or find a way to return to their old path.

Anyways, if you're interested in working with me, feel free to PM me or leave a response here. Also, if you have a concept or plot in mind, please share it with me. We can work on it together to make it something we both want to do, or I might even just like it from the start and we can get into it quickly.
