Hi, I noticed your interest check and I figured I'd come straight to the OOC to ask a few questions.

1) Besides the basic rules and setting, is there anything that I should know before getting into this RP? Cause I'm definitely interested but I don't want to be a hindrance by not knowing certain things I should know for the plot. Basically, is everything I need to know in the first post of the OOC? Or do I need some outside knowledge?

2) For classes, I was thinking of running a character that would kind of be like a warrior but not in the traditional sense. I was thinking of running a warrior that is more like a "thug" type of character of sorts. It'd have a background that's based more in a thief style background (raised by the streets, yada yada) but instead of learning to pick pocket, they learned how to fight dirty. Like cheap shots, using things from their environment to fight, hidden weapons, even poisons to fight. If you don't want me to do this I can think up a more traditional style of character.

Also, it's nice to see some more old faces from the guild. I'm finding that most people that came from the old guild have moved on.

Hi guys, so I'm wanting to do an RP based off a web comic called Paranatural you can find here. I'll sum up the webcomic's setting and such, but first I want to establish some rules and such before hand

Rules and Standards:

1. Posting - So, high casual+, 2+ paragraphs per post on average. Sometimes you can't write large posts, so it's fine for smaller ones, but never do one liners please. Also, post at least once every two days, more would be preferred, but this is the minimum required. Finally, tell me if you're gonna be away and can't post. I can wait more than two days if you notify me, but if you just disappear, I'll drop you.

2. Mature/Adult themes and romance - I don't mind this stuff, in fact I think it can enhance a story when used properly, keyword being properly. Moderation and taste people, please don't let this stuff become the focus of the RP, cause then it just becomes stale and boring for me. Also, mature/adult doesn't just mean gore and sex. It can also refer to dark story lines that make people question their morality and such, aka story about the grey areas in life, like killing someone to save other people. That type of stuff is great for writing, so consider that?

3. Respect - Lets just respect and be kind to one another, cause I want us to be friends, not just partners.

The other thing to discuss is my "style" of RP'ing. I've explained before and I'll explain again, the way I do RP's is different in that instead of each RP'er having an MC and controlling NPC's, instead one person shall play the Main Character of the entire RP, while the other controls the "world" itself. So, the Main Character's role is simple as that they are the focus of the story. Everything he/she does has some sort of impact on the plot and can change the direction that the RP is heading. The World role instead controls mainly the support cast of characters, as well as providing situations and events for the MC to handle. I like this style cause both RP'ers feel important to the story, and can heavily influence the story in unique ways.

For this RP, being that I am more familiar with the plot and setting, I figured it'd be better for me to take the role of World in this RP. If you'd like to, that's fine, don't feel pressured to take the MC role because you're unfamiliar with this setting/property.

So, onto what Paranatural actually is. The plot focuses on middle school children that essentially are ghost busters with super powers. They beat up evil spirits and deal with school, yada yada, blah blah blah. The plot itself is not that original, but I still love it. Let me explain how everything works in this world.

In Parantural, there are two types of supernatural beings, ghosts and spirits. Ghosts are as the name implies, ghosts of dead things. you can have ghosts of anything, ranging from dogs to people. As long as it was once alive, it can become a ghost. Spirits on the other hand were never alive to begin with. Spirits have always existed only on a supernatural plain of existence, never a part of the living world. This is only one of two differences, the other being that spirits can be almost anything. They can be hyped exaggerated, super powered animals, like a giant bat that can actually use sound based attacks, or even dragons. Essentially, the trade off is that while they never had a physical form on the living plain, they have powers in the plain of the dead/spiritual. So, what does that have to do with the story? Well, sometimes spirits do bad things, and some of them even wish to cross over into the realm of the living to wreak havoc. Essentially, not all spirits, or even ghosts, are good, and because of this, there has to be those that can stop them.

This is where we get people with spiritual powers. Every living being in some sense has spiritual energy, some more so than others. Those with enough talent or latent spiritual power have the ability to actually see and interact with the spiritual plain and even combat evil ghosts and spirits. There are several ways to do this, but the basics are the most important. Everyone who can actually use their spiritual energy to fight have a special aura to them. The aura floats around them as they use their spirit energy, and everyone has a unique color to their aura. Some are black, black/blueish, white/goldish (HAHA MEMES RIGHT GUYS?), and essentially they can be any color, and usually reflects the personality of it's owner, like red going for someone who is more aggressive, or gold for someone that is righteous. The color does play an important role, but I'll get into why later. For now, the spiritual energy is the base tool that those combating spirits use by molding it into shapes to fight with their enemies. Things like fists, swords, blasts of energy, and other such things are what those using spiritual energy are capable of. You can form them into more complex shapes as you get stronger and such, but this is the basic way this fighting style works.

The next way to fight is what are called tools. This is where the color of your spirit energy is important. See, tools are objects that are possessed by spirits. The reason spirits due this is to either curse objects in attempts to possess people, or simply because they're dying and need a way to sustain themselves and continue to live. The object becomes a tool, and can generally use the special powers that spirits can use. For example, lets say a bat get possessed by a spirit with magnetic powers, the bat then becomes a magnetic bat. Simple right? The reason that a user's spirit energy color is important because you can only use tools that have the same color spirit energy as you. So if you had a red spirit energy, you could only use tools with red energy. Some users are strong enough to manipulate tools of different colors, but this puts tremendous strain on the body.

The third way to fight is by becoming a medium. Mediums are similar to tools in that they are actually people instead of objects that are possessed by a spirit. Sometimes this can work out where the spirit wants to only help you and is friendly, other times it can be a risk cause the spirit might try and take over your body. However, the trade off is that not only is your spirit energy manipulation bolstered heavily, you can directly use the powers of the spirit that resides within you. Lets go back to the magnet ghost. If you were to become it's medium, instead of merely becoming magnetic, you might be able to even manipulate the magnetic charge of objects, causing them to repel away from you or attract to one another to bind things together.

There are two more ways to fight that are not included in Paranatural that I'm creating for this RP specifically. The first new way to fight is by enchanting. Enchanting is a style that uses spiritual energy to enhance regular objects to allow them to interact with the spiritual plain. For example, you could take an ordinary sword, enchant it with your spiritual energy, and proceed to cut up spirits attacking you. This is for those that have spiritual energy, but not enough to form it into viable attacks against spirits.

The other unique way to fight is by becoming a warlock. A warlock is someone who directly links themselves to spirits, similarly to a medium, but instead of becoming possessed by them, they simply store them away within their own souls, and then call them out to fight for them directly. The trade off is that while you summon spirits to fight for you, the warlock itself is generally weak and if targeted directly, can be taken care of usually easily.

So, these are the 5 styles in which you'd combat a spirit if you had to.

Now, as I stated earlier, the plot takes place in middle school, but I want to move this plot to an older audience. Now what age group specifically, I'd prefer 18+, like college level adolescents or higher, but I'm willing to do a...highschool setting...If you really want to. I want to work with anyone who's interested in this on creating a setting together and going from there.

If you're interested, PM me or post here, and I'm willing to take multiple people in for separate RP's.
