Asahina's body shifted back on the bed, her back hit the wall and she pulled her legs close to her chest. She did not think that Alem would chastise her like this, she had told him as much as had come to her mind. She didn't have all the answers he was looking for. She was a tool the empire had used, does a mechanic explain to his wrench why it is fastening a bolt? The news that the princess of this world had also been taken piqued her interest. It was more than reasonable to assume that Jasmine was in the same situation that she was. That much was obvious, but the ends to their means alluded her. All she knew was that she apparently had a heart devoid of darkness, if that was the case, then why was she covered in it right now? This darkness couldn't be from her heart, if that were true, then she needed to know where it had come from. She opened her hands, and looked at her grotesque claws. This form was not a reflection of her heart, it had been imposed upon her by the machine she had been placed in. The factories were gathering darkness, vast amounts of darkness, with her at the center. "This Form..." She spoke, her voice smoother than it was before, it felt as if a thick fog in her throat had cleared. She wasn't sure if she should feel blessed or worried that this body was beginning to feel comfortable. "This is a garment that does not belong to me, that shouldn't be on me... Yet it has been stitched to my flesh." She looked towards Alem behind a veil of hair. "Who I am is irrelevant." She said with sorrowful disdain. "It is what I am that is important." She hugged her legs closer to herself. "Those shadows, they are creatures called Heartless. They prey upon human hearts and are monsters of base instinct, they may follow the lead of a being with strong control over darkness, but they are monsters still. For a time I believed I was transforming into a Heartless, however, I now see it in another light." Asahina grumbled, and awkwardly scratched the top of her head with one of her knife like nails. "I was used to gather darkness for a certain purpose, what this purpose is, I cannot tell you because I... do not know." She whispered in a barely audible tone. "Darkness is a pervasive thing, it corrupts absolutely and is impassioned towards light. Light is a threat to dark, and so a pure heart is insatiable. My teacher once told me something that I only understand now, he said that the brighter the light, the darker the shadow..." Asahina went quiet, resting her head between her knees. Feeling sorry for herself? That must be what it looks like to him, but it was wrong. "I wish I could feel sorry for myself... But I don't. I don't want to suffer, after all I don't deserve it. But on the same note, I am not entitled to much else. I never asked for this. I've never been important, I've always been alone and that was my own fault. It was hard to do, but I accepted my fate as a reluctant recluse. Now I learn that I'm some... Princess, and what does it cause me but pain? I know I have to do something about it, I can't let anyone be hurt because of someone like me..."

Ryoko tilted her head at the display Salforge put on via his blocks. He had managed to succeed in what she supposed she should call bugging the man she had met before and the girl she was looking for. She took a close look at the girl named Asahina. "She barely looks human anymore, isn't that quaint..." The screen flickered for a moment to the inside of a washroom, Ryoko glared at Salforge, who tried to offer what she wasn't even sure was an excuse. "Sal, if you're feeling frustrated, there are better ways to calm yourself." She said with a yawn. The mercenary then requested more information from her, in a fairly stalwart manner as well. It nearly caught her off guard as it seemed a bit strange for him. Ryoko looked to him with snide, condescending eyes. "You want me to respect the mercenary business? That's a laugh. The only thing I respect are results, Salforge, which luckily for you, you have managed to do." She leaned back in her chair, and crossed her right leg over her left. "You want to know what that girl is? She is a Princess of Heart, or to put it more simply, she is a human being that possesses a heart with no darkness in it. We need these girls because they are vital to conjuring up vast amounts of darkness from the heart of a world. She may not fully realize it, but that girl has inside her enough darkness to eclipse the heart of a world completely. Do you see why it is important that we find her now?"
Feeling a chilly draft on his neck, a shiver went down Ace's spine. He turned around to see Gavin entering the room. Either Osa had somehow turned one of the rooms into a freezer, or Gavin had turned it into an ice box. It was a good thing Gavin had decided now to talk to him, because he was a minute away from interrogating the boy himself. "Brutally honest, huh? Alright then..." After hearing Gavin out, Ace leaned forward and poured a cup of tea. There was a lot of weight on Gavin's shoulders, responsibility that shouldn't be his. If his life was on the line then there wouldn't be any problems with his motivation, but there was one thing that bothered him. "You're on a mission of retribution, and not by your choice? What do you plan to do once you kill this person?" Ace said, handing him the tea. "Will you stay with us, or will you return to... whatever life it is that you've been living?" At this time a foreign young man entered the room from the bar above. Osa stood from her seat and walked to him. "You don't have to bow, none of us here are kings or queens." She said with a welcoming smile. She reached out her hand for him to shake. "I am Osa, Okal told me you would be arriving, come in." She motioned for him to join the table, though Shizuka had already stood up to greet him. "Yu, I'm Shizuka." She said, grinning ear to ear. She then took the liberty of telling him the names of everyone else at the table. "There's Lin too, but she's asleep right now. Come on, sit down and have some tea." She patted him on the back towards the table, and poured him a cup of the warm beverage.

Finding herself sitting in the palace library once more, Ryoko was far less enthused than she had planned to be at the current circumstances. She was irritated that Salforge had let the Princess of Heart go, she was irritated that finding them would prove twice as difficult now, and above all else she was irritated that the connection on her transceiver was cutting out. She slapped the device like an unruly child, and quite like an unruly child it shaped up. On the device's screen a blond woman came into focus. "Catherine, did you give the Emperor my report?" She asked. "Yes." The maid's voice came through the speakers with a cavalry of static behind it. "He said that in light of what has happened, you are to kill the Princess of Heart on sight, and that the factory of that world must not be compromised." "That's easy to say..." Ryoko mumbled. "Master?" "Nothing, that will be all Catherine... Comb your hair, it's a mess."

"Such confidence..." Asahina whispered to herself as Alem left the room. She couldn't understand how he was so sure of himself, not after seeing what she had done. She looked to the window by the bed, she could easily run away now and get out of this man's life before she complicated it any further. But she didn't. She wanted to believe in Alem, because without him she would be alone again. Alem came back into the room with water and fruit, he handed her the water and placed the pears down on her lap. She quickly drank the water, and began to eat the pears. As she was chewing, he spoke to her, telling her he was calling a friend for help, and asked her to tell him who she was. She felt anxious about showing herself to someone else, to her Alem was an exception to how the average person would react to seeing something like her. He moved down to her face, forcing her to look at him. Her yellow eyes looked away from his, a poor reflex of hers. She slowly looked back at him as he spoke again. "I'm... Sorry." She had not told him the full truth because it wasn't something she fully understood. "They said I am... A Princess." Her face tightened at the regal word. "Someone Pure. No Darkness inside." Her eyes turned downcast. "Must be a mistake. Me. A Princess?"
I'm looking at in terms of how this could affect me, while simultaneously doing the same to existing role-players of the rp itself and I question the integrity because this was not plainly listed in the rules upon joining. God forbid any one of us go afk due to college, traveling abroad, vacation, or any offline obligatory demands that fill the shoes of our online time. That being said, I will post this weekend, because I'm in my senior year and double majoring, please forgive my lack of online presence.
well you've posted more than once and didn't leave the RP so you really don't have to worry about that
ColorMeEvil left and did not have any interest in the RP. The fact of the matter is, if you do not wish for your character to be killed off, you should express that in some way. I don't really care how it is in other RPs, I'm just telling you how it works in this one.
He left the RP awhile ago. And since he didn't write them out the character is effectively an NPC.
The next morning
Sitting at a table with a cup of tea in his hands Ace swirled the nearly black liquid around absentmindedly. "The tea too strong for you Ace?" Osa said. She was sitting across from him, sipping a cup of sweetened tea of her own. He sat the cup down, and looked at her. "No, it's fine. It just reminds me of this cafe in Hollow Bastion that me and Shizuka used to go to. She'd always want to go there for the cakes, and I'd always go for the tea." "And the cute waitresses." "And the waitresses, yes." Ace smirked, and downed the tea. Shizuka then entered the room with a loud yawn and shaggy hair. "Lin still asleep?" He asked. "Yup, I just couldn't wake her up Ace, she looked so comfortable." She said, taking a seat at the table. Osa poured her a cup of tea and Shizuka nodded in thanks. "It sounds like she went through quite a lot the other day, A little rest should do her well." Osa said. "So, what are we doing today?" The question was clearly aimed at Ace, he sighed and looked at the ceiling. "For a long time our plan of action was to destroy the factories. But now we know there's people being used as their cores. There are a number of steps we can take from here, but I believe we need to find the girl that was inside of the factory in Hollow Bastion, and figure out what the purpose of the structures is. Hopefully Rika or Okal have found something out."

Stepping out of a steamy washroom, Ryoko walked into a small room with two beds. She had rented out a room in an inn for herself and Salforge, she could have stayed in the palace, but with the main gate having been destroyed by Nomis's rabid monster the place was in disarray. She walked past the man with a steel heart adorned in nothing but a towel, she was never much of a modest woman. "At least this place has a bath..." She sighed, walking over to her bed where her clothes lay. She removed her towel, and began to change. "So, what was this good news you had for me, Salforge?" She asked.

Asahina shot straight up awake from her bed, her yellow eyes darted across the room as if she were trying to follow a swarm of flies. She soon recognized the plain room as Alem's home. After her encounter yesterday, she had been too shaken to communicate with Alem. She had completely lost control of herself, it was no longer a question, she knew she was losing her mind. It was only a matter of time until she attacked the only man that had shown her kindness thus far. She turned to face Alem, who was already awake, though she wasn't sure if he had even slept at all. "Are you sure... You should keep. Helping me?" She turned her gaze downwards. "I may. Hurt you."
posting tomorrow.
Yu is accepted
Shizuka's eyes narrowed as she noticed Lin's reaction to her question. She was clutching her chest, which was something she had seen Ace do many times now. An emotional cord had been struck and there was no taking it back, the note had already been heard. Being the courteous girl that she was, she answered the question in spite of her clear discomfort. Shizuka was relived to hear that Mulan and the others were well, ever since she learned of the empire's invasion of the Land of Dragons she had feared for everyone's safety. The topic changed to the current plans of action on her world, however Lin did not get far before she stumbled upon a memory that she clearly did not wish to discuss. She had not seen the Emperor of China executed, yet the reality of the matter had hit her hard regardless. Even as a warrior with many deadly techniques under her belt, she had not gone through the last rite of becoming a solider in a war, she had not seen death up close. Shizuka smiled and took a sip of water, letting Lin know in her own way that it was okay to go on. The new topic caught her off guard however. She gulped down some water too quickly, and had to stifle a cough. "Han would like to see me?" She said, bashfully turning her gaze away and hiding her wriggling grin with the cup in her hands. As if that wasn't enough of a shock to her system, Lin kept going, mentioning marriage and just how special she could become to her brother. If she were to blush any more at the moment the water in her hand would be steaming. It was as good as a schoolgirl crush, but in the time that she had gotten to know Han she had grown to deeply admire him. If she could see him again, she would need to steel herself and finally attempt to ask him out, she just hoped she didn't literally turn her body into steel, she often did that when nervous. It's more embarrassing than it sounds. Shizuka downed the cup of water and turned back to Lin with a not so flustered face. She took the empty cup from her and placed them both on a table. "I don't think you give yourself enough credit." She said, walking back over to Lin. You're Han's sister, if there's anyone he should be able to open up with it's you..." Shizuka giggled and idly scratched her cheek. "But~ I'm more than willing to help out if need be." She gently grasped Lin and hugged her into her chest. "I'd love to have a sister as cute as you, after all." She kept Lin right where she was for a moment, and for some reason she wondered if there would be a time when they could no longer spend time together. It was a dreadful thought, one she was more than happy with dispelling. "But you know, even if I didn't marry Han, I'd still be your friend for as long as I lived." __________ There was a strange feeling stirring inside of Asahina's body. She was physically in control of her body, yet at the same time felt as if she was drifting away from behaving in a way that the being known as "Asahina" would. She could hear Alem's voice, he was giving her instructions. However, his voice was muddled, not because of faulty hearing but because she swore that her body was choosing to ignore it. She felt as if she were in that machine again, suspended in animation with no way out, only the prison was now her own body... no, as she was now the entire world felt like a prison. The dark beast quickly approached, and as it did she felt the presence of many more heartless sprouting up around her. The small fry were of no matter, as she was now they would refrain from attacking her. Alem noticed the other heartless as well, and choose to tell her to strike now, she was more than eager to. She sprinted forward, only to be stopped by a sudden barrier. Someone else must have arrived, odd, she could not sense the presence of a heart. With her path being blocked she grew frustrated, she did not bother turning around to see who had interfered, instead she banged on the barrier with her hands. The force was enough to topple a reinforced wall, yet the barrier showed no signs of breaking. She let out a fierce roar and jumped into the air, darkness then began to swirl around her body like a whirlpool of black smoke. She kicked her legs, and pockets of darkness formed at her feet to step on, allowing her to clear over the barrier. She charged towards the beast, a furious scowl etched upon her face. The beast had suddenly slowed to a crawl, thanks to Alem's magic, and she intended to take full advantage. Brandishing her claws she dashed into her target, aiming for the limbs on the left side of it's body, she then skidded to a quick halt along the ground using her claws, and charged once more from behind, taking the other limbs. Asahina wasn't sure how she was doing this, she was conscious of her actions, even knew what she was about to do next, yet she refused to believe that this was her. She stopped right next to the monster, and began to claw at it manically. Her hands tore the flesh from it's body, and she wasn't sure when, but she had begun to laugh as she did so. What she did next was horrifying, she began to consume the heartless. As it's body tore apart it liquefied, allowing her to devour it. Her mouth opened to grotesque proportions, and she chewed and ripped with razor teeth. Soon enough nothing remained of her victim, and with the source of her ire gone she soon regained control over her body. "W-wha..." She fell to her knees and clutched her arms, shaking.
The empathetic words and melancholy frown of Lin spoke leagues of her character. Ace was worried about her of course, yet here she was telling him to worry about other people before her. If seeing someone with a broken arm was uncomfortable for her, then he knew he had just cause to be wary. He didn't want to see what the death of a comrade could do to her. A wry smile spread across his face, Lin's innocence was one of things he admired in her, but he just knew it would cause her harm some day.

"You're right, I did forget about Gavin's broken arm..." He said, his eyes averting hers. "Compared to the worst I've seen it's nothing, I suppose I stopped worrying about the little things after..." Ace let out a low grunt as he felt a pain in his chest, his face tightened for a moment, but he refrained from grasping his chest and worrying Lin. "Anyway, I'll keep that in mind, so don't worry about it. After all, I don't want to become as heartless as the people we're fighting, right?" Ace patted Lin on her shoulder, and walked back to bed, on his way, he passed Shizuka, who was holding two cups of water. She took one look at him, and could see that he was bothered by something, yet she didn't say anything, for as long as she'd known him she knew when he wanted to be left alone.

"Lin?" Shizuka held out a cup of water to her friend. The water wasn't ice cold, but it would be more than refreshing on this hot world. "I've been wondering, how are things back on your world again? Everyone is alright, aren't they?"

Ryoko let out an exasperated sigh, and titled her head as if her neck had gotten tired of holding it up. "Fine, Sal..." She muttered, wondering how common it was for mercenaries to show such initiative for no extra pay. She crossed her arms in a lackadaisical fashion, and watched as Salforge walked towards the heartless abomination. She heard him utter something, and his blocks began to move in a way she had never seen before. Flat mirrors and piercing lights, he created what amounted to a lethal lightshow. One of the monster's limbs was perforated, and feel to the ground. This didn't seem to bother the creature much, as it continued on it's path, ignoring them. Curious.

Salforge inquired as to the culprit behind this, she had an educated guess. She unfolded her arms, and began to walk after the heartless. "This has Nomis's rusty stench all over it, he's always tinkering with things that man..." She looked back to Salforge with a sinister gleam in her eyes. "That thing is searching for something, how about we find out what that something is?"

"Eh?... Okay." Asahina took the cloak back, and tried to put it back on as quickly as she could. She hadn't thought of hiding her tendril like hair. She looked like a monster now, but she still wasn't fully conscious of it. She flipped the hood over her head, and followed the man as he led her outside. She tried to keep her eyes down, but couldn't help but look up when she noticed the horse in front of her. Large animals tended to make her nervous, but considering her current condition she felt she was in no position to act timid.

The horse clearly wasn't of the same mind, it was disturbed by her presence, and had to be calmed by it's owner. She didn't blame it, she must have reeked of darkness, and animals tended to know when to stay away from danger. She was helped onto the horse, an awkward affair considering she had to be careful where she placed her claws, though not quite as awkward as her realizing that she'd need to hold onto this man to keep her balance. The ride was silent, which left her to her thoughts. After telling him what had what had become of her, and asking his name, he hadn't said much back to her. She wasn't sure if he simply wasn't interested, or felt it would be a bother to respond.

After a few minutes he spoke, almost surprising her. "Alem?" She repeated what she heard, only realizing afterwards that he was telling her his name. "I-I see." She responded, lowering her head. It didn't sound like he had wanted to tell her his name, he likely wanted to keep this all impersonal. She didn't know why he was helping her, but as far as she knew she was a burden on him, and needed to get out of his hands as soon as possible.

She then heard something in the distance, it was faint but identifiable. A moment later Alem stopped the horse as he noticed the noise as well. He asked her if she could fight. She honestly wasn't sure. Her body was capable of causing damage, that much she knew to be true, controlling herself was the issue. If she wasn't careful, she feared she could kill someone. "I... Yes." She muttered.

There was a loud crash as a gate fell, and the perpetrator made it's presence known. Asahina felt it before she saw it. The creature was made of darkness, darkness that smelled like holy ambrosia to her. Her teeth grinded together, and she let out a subtle growl. She jumped from the horse, and snapped her head in the direction of the grotesque creature. It felt as if primal instincts had taken over her body, it felt dangerous, but she did not have the will to stop it. "It's. Coming. Should I reveal... or will you kill it?" She spoke to Alem in broken grammar.
