Despite holding their rapt attention for over an hour, his own attention focused on recalling his accounts in such a way to make them seem more human, they all glance over when Lai pauses for a moment. They spot what he's looking at, tucked away in a shady corner of the yard, but as he is in the middle of his story they quickly look back to him with little whines. He smiles at the soft noises and continues. With grand gestures and even playacting little bits of it the story is a hit and as it comes to a close the children let out little war cries. Not a handful of seconds pass and they are up in arms, ready to slaughter the hoards of evil that are half the children acting like little demons.

In truth the story had been simple, a reconnaissance mission to a deserted part of the planet where there had been demon sightings but nothing confirmed. The only hitch of course was an attack by a rogue band of demons that had been hiding out there, not wanting to share their capture of a small group of frightened children. The demons had become bandits and the angels mercenaries on a job for the church, but still the children felt the need to vent their excitement in a playfully violent manner. Not wanting to get trampled Laisander scoops up the blanket, folding it expertly with a few quick turns and moving away from the rowdy bunch with little difficulty.

Stopping a few paces away from where the demon is seated Lai flops down himself without looking at the man. Instead he watches the children, two of the little ones tackling down one of the taller ones in a maneuver that would have made Lai's commander proud. He stays silent, the demon already knowing what he wants and feeling no need to push the point. 'Besides, I always start the actual conversations while he just tries to say his bit then storm off in righteous anger. It's his turn to either speak up, or once again blow me off. I have two days to start cracking this egg, and a ton more days I can come pester him on until I get my answers'
Well, the concept is fairly simple. It's like a choose your own adventure story where, instead of picking a choice provided to you, you make your own suggestions which I then write on to continue the story. Each suggestion made gets it's own section and by following the color sequence you can track the story lines. Say you read the Orange section and have three different ideas for where the story should go from there, you would say something like "For the orange section, I think this should happen, or this, or that!" and in my next post I would write out your suggestions. You are free to make as many suggestions as you want for any color section you want. Make sense?
So, how is this going for you?
Stiiiill lookin' !
Arriving at the palace kitchens in a rush of wind and positive energy Rue surveys the scene and smiles wide as he realizes that Cho is on the ball as always. The cook is racing about the room, shouting his orders, not putting up with any lollygagging and his hands are like lightning as he stirs here, whips there, and slides through the kitchen almost like smoke. Rue calls out to the man and almost jumps out of his skin when Cho appears suddenly right in front of him an instant later. As soon as he can speak again, swallowing down his heart back to where it belongs, Rue smiles up at the cook with a glowing grin. “Lord Enasi asks for something to eat in the soup department on account of it being what's best for him right now!”

Cho ruffles Rue's hair. “On it! Wait right here and you can help me carry stuff! I have some stuff in the oven for out guest as well.” Rue wiggles happily, nodding vigorously and watches as once more Cho is off doing his thing like only he can do.

Harper watches the little one rush past, closing the door gently after them, the image of them piling atop the Nightmare Guardian the last thing he sees of them before it closes. He walks slowly down the hallway, knowing very well exactly what he wants to do right this very second, but as he looks up at the sound of Faun leaving their guardian's room he can not bring himself to go to Enasi's side just yet. Instead he moves towards the sound of rapidly approaching feet and waylays the siblings before they rush right in to beat Seishu senseless. Despite all the effort put into keeping the masses from finding out just what happened t their beloved guardian,t he siblings know full well it had to do with Seishu and they are not interested in the fact right now.

Inui and Rasha crawl right up to the amused guardian and snuggle up against him, letting out small sighs and he cuddles them right back. Rasha snuggle in close before pausing, Inui and him share a look and they both prop themselves up,t he question on the tip of their lips before Seishu interrupts them. “Yes, my energy has changed, no it is not a bad thing, and I'm sorry but until Enasi says so I can't tell you. Now get back down here and snuggle with me while I cry a bit.” Rasha is about to tease him, saying he'd never cry, but as he looks down at the guardian his smile fades and he buries his face in the male's shoulder.

There are so many things he has to cry for that Seishu doesn't know where to start, but as the tears begin to build up in the corners of his eyes he reaches up and gently pulls Inui down against his chest, running his fingers through the smaller male's hair over and and over, taking what little comfort he can in the one touch of home he has on hand. “It's okay Master Seishu. It's alright. We’re here. We won't leave, I promise. . .” The little red eyed gem murmurs softly, rubbing Seishu chest soothingly, running his fingers over little nips and bite marks he can see through the cuts in the fabric.

With an almighty crash of bodies Jentou launches himself into his brother as soon as he's close enough and those around let out small nervous laughs at the sight of their leader buried under the pile of white fabric. They are all still too on edge from the events from the night before to truly enjoy the sight, having moved camp deep into the woods as ordered. Lan and Ran stand at the ready behind Tiski who lets Jentou do his thing for a minute before offering Kaila a hand up. Kaila himself revels in the feeling of his brother showing him so much affection and slowly rubs his back, prompting him to sit up slowly so the two of them can regain their feet.

Once up Jentou clings to his brother, listening vaguely as Kaila fills in what happened to his team before turning to address the camp. “Master Seishu had to return to safety after retrieving a dream minion who had somehow managed to break into our world on accident!” His raises his voice so they can all hear but it doesn't sound like yelling despite the volume. A low murmur goes through the group before they fall silent a gain to listen, the only ones not silent the children who have begin to cry. Jentou hears the sound and detaches from his brother, recalling his job as a baby protector. As he speaks again Kaila keeps his voice strong, and steady.

“We were successful, and Master Seishu was magnificent as always. His kindness is beyond measure and we can all stand confident that he will one day return to his rightful place. He was torn about leaving us so suddenly, but believe me when I say that he weeps to be away from us and is fighting every day to be able to return. He has faith in us, and we will not disappoint him!” The cheer goes up around the camp, dying down after a few minutes for him to add on, “Also, I am positive that we will be able to return to the safety of the swamp soon, but I will send out some scouts before we make the move. Make yourselves ready for the move.” With a cry they all agree and begin working.
The demon's head snaps around as he hears the less than graceful landing of his current obsession and he smiles as Dani and Aoba act almost like human siblings. 'I worry less and less each day for the two of them being together, and I'm not sure if it's a good thing, but. . .' He lets out a sigh, smiling at the angel as he comes over to grab a few of the dishes. He nods at Aoba's declaration and subtle request for even more training. “I don't plan on leaving you alone long enough to need it any time soon but I will teach you some basics soon. For now I want you to focus on the other stuff. Let me do my thing here.” He chuckles softly as Dani makes a comment about Kuro becoming a house demon.

“Yeah yeah. . .” he murmurs, setting down the sandwiches, placing Dani's beside Aoba's. The smaller demon perks up at the sight of less green sticking out of his sandwich a purrs happily. Plopping down on the couch he lays into his meal with gusto, quite hungry after the flying lesson and the fight from earlier in the day. Kuro smiles at the angel, “You are most welcome Little Mouse.” He murmurs softly, still a little lost in thought, unsure of what to talk about or if he should simply eat then head out for evening chores.

Dani on the other hand has plenty to say. “You should really watch your wing tips on your turns. I don't know how you do it with feathers, but you gotta kinda curl'em just so. Also, you’re treating your body like a sack of skulls. You gotta read the air and let your body move naturally, not like you’re carrying it around. You guy do this lift thing, I've seen it, and it does this thing with the air that allows you to shift.” He continues to ramble between bites, ignoring his contemplative sibling sitting across from him. He finishes first and doesn't even look up as Kuro stands, ladling him another bowl full and handing it back with the smaller male's eyes still locked on Aoba and his wings.
Whatever's easier on you.
I should be around, and less busy myself :P You have fun at work! And if you read this after work, I hope you had fun at work!
The angel does his best to remain sill, the only part of him really active those annoyingly bright eyes most with faces like his can pull off with little to no effort. 'Sometimes it pays to not be overtly “Manly”, though I'm not sure the qualifies. I get the distinct impression he's more annoyed by this expression than swayed by it, but I can't help it. The kids are being cute, and I wanna be cute too. . . .Even if it is in front of a demon. If he's really reformed he should have any problem with me playing the innocent I know myself to be. I may have slaughtered many of his kind, I never once enjoyed the killing, nor have I harmed any humans'

The children quickly work their magic and at the cries of delight at getting the okay he gives the demon an honestly grateful smile, the joy of the children something he is truly happy to see and feel. A moment later however he is distracted by the ever exuberant Javier trying to get even more out of the angel. 'Me, convince him of anything? I think at this point it's near blackmail and an more would be mean on my part' He glances at the demon priest. 'If I'm ever going to get anything out of him, I have to play by the rules'

Scooping up Javier, Lai props him on his hip and ruffles his hair. “The farther here has his work to do and it wouldn't be right to drag him away. After all, he does it to make sure you can go out and have fun. We should let him be so he can get it done quickly, then maybe later you all can bog him down with some fun activities?” The children giggle and cheer and with a final smile at the dutiful priest the angel heads out with the children. A few dart off to go find the appropriate persons an items for the activity. Laisander smiles at this, the children a well oiled system if he's ever seen one.

Once outside he sets Javier down and they begin working on picking a spot for their meal. After some fussing they find a patch of earth on the right side of the church to keep the breeze mostly away and far enough from the grass that they will see any ants coming a long way off. Just as they confirm no pests in the area the rest of the pack arrives with all the fixings, including of course a giant picnic basket carried by a tall girl Lai presumes is Athena. He had seen her in passing the day before and as she looks upon him with a soft smile Lai returns the look with a nod and half smile of his own. 'The older ones are definitely kept busier than the little ones. I think I've met all the kids, but the teens are a different story. Is this place mostly staffed by youth?'

Thinking back on it he realizes that he had not seen a single other priest. 'I was so focused on the false father I suppose I could have missed them. But, even if there are others, there can't be that many. . .' Letting out a sigh he helps the little ones set up and soon they are all sitting and laughing and enjoying their meal. Lai manages to keep them from running around too much with the help of Athena and soon they are all down to their desserts. As soon as the small cups with ice cream are handed out, the little tongue depressor shaped bits of wood that come with them digging in with relish in place of spoons, they all turn to the angel and without a word beg for a story. With a fond smile he nibbles on his own ice treat and obliges.
Well, if you want, I'm going to be around today so if you have time we could do a few posts to get us rolling a little faster? Aim for a little bit smaller posts so we can get in more of them and get us closer to the good parts? Inara was having a time trying to make long posts once in a while so when we need to get the ball rolling we do smaller posts on Skype, then post them all once we're back on track. If you no have Skype, we can do it here :P
