Saerin's comment cut through the air like a chill wind. Nodrick grinned at Belgrax's gruff choice of words, but thought better of it and composed himself. He quickly looked her up and down, and decided her apparel and demeanor meant she was a mercenary of sorts. A mage perhaps, judging by the apparent lack of muscle. He had dealt with the sort before. People his father hired to 'solve issues'. Mercenaries were usually a good lot, eager to drink and gamble, and more often than not very keen on playing a joke or two. Did this one consider herself a cut above the rest, perhaps? Only one way to find out.

"Ah, milady," he said making a half bow at the waist. "Pleae forgive the uncouthness of my entourage. You must have a keen eye and be a veritable treasure trove of knowledge about creatures to so easily determine the sex of no less than an ogre. Unless.."

Nodrick made a display of looking Saerin carefully up and down, taking in every detail, and ending it with wide eyes and raised eyebrows.
"Unless you are the ogre's sister! But of course, do beg my pardon, dear ogress. You seemed so much... taller last night."
Good to know. I'm in the GMT+1 timezone, so US people might consider my schedule erratic as well. Please feel free to shoot me a PM when convenient. We should keep the thread clean for other interested parties.
That's fine by me. I added the upgrade to touch on the mutant/gifted concept.

I prefer play by post. On the boards or via PM are both fine for me. I can post once or twice a day depending on my schedule. Possibly more often if we are online around the same times. Do you have any situations or expectations that you would like me to consider?
How about a mix of a few of your ideas?

India, 2137. A young Indian woman meets an American man (slightly older than she) online through a Virsenz (virtual sensory reality) game where they join up to clear a particularly difficult dungeon together. The dungeon is large and they get sidetracked often because they socialise instead of fight the monsters and solve the puzzles. Clearing stages earns them virtual credits, though, which can be exchanged for real money, keeping them somewhat focused.
One day, her parents announce that they have arranged a wedding for her with a leading neurosurgeon. She already met the guy once and absolutely loathes him. Her parents love the man, however, and have decided to upgrade the girl with surgical nanobots to enable her to perform low difficulty surgical work herself, to aid her future husband's practice.
The marriage takes place and the girl falls off the map for a few months. The guy, desparate to know what happened to his love interest, curries favour with his employer to send him to India on a business trip. Arriving in India, it doesn't take long to find her, as he knows her name as well as her husband's. He soon learns that the husband has died under suspicious circumstances, and the girl has disappeared.
He logs into the Virsenz game again and begins asking around for her. She finds him, although her username and appearance have been altered. She refuses to tell him how her husband died, but tells him that her husband shared knowledge with her prior to his death, that a crime cartel desparately wants to keep secret. She begs him to help her flee the country and be together in the US. He agrees, they go dark and travel the world on a tight budget. They occasionally log into the game to supplement their meagre budget, as well as enable them to have access to a somewhat anonymised form of currency.

This would take place in both the real world and some sort of fantasy/scifi game world of our own design. Tension comes from both interpersonal relationships, as well as needing to earn anonymous funds (which means risking their relative invisibility at times when logging in).
By the way, do we have some sort of weekly/monthly post quota? Also, do we need a posting order, or do we keep posting order reserved for combat?
Does this work?

Nodrick rubbed his eyes as they stepped outside into the light. "Yes, a right shame the Company wasn't in full strength. However, we will consider ourselves a vanguard. We will plan an full incursion at a later date." And after a moment of silence, "much later."
While Nodrick hadn't been too boisterous last night, he did spot one or two men in Esperglow livery at the back of the establishment. He hoped they weren't too loose lipped and had trundled off to their master to tattle-tale on him. Regardless, what is done is done. He could only hope their newfound popularity outweighed his image with the Esperglows.

As Eldon pointed out the ogre, images from last night came flooding back. "Oh. Eh. Ah! Yes, of course. Belgrax, we found your fiancée!" Nodrick moved to push Belgrax towards the ogre, but changed his mind at the last second and simply slapped him on the shoulder. "Yesterday a bacchanal, today a wedding. What a wonderful week."
As the memories came back, he not only remembered a large woman being wooed, but also an obscene game of charades, sixteen different drinking games, three near divorces, one actual divorce, an engagement, the official beginning and end of the siege of the Drunken Goose's privy, the midnight repair of the Drunken Goose's privy, and an hour long search for a lost goat that turned out to never have existed.
As Nodrick pushed himself off of Hermes, he wobbled a bit before regaining his feet. The muscle memory of etiquette training on gait and pose kicked into gear and in sheer moments the stumbling drunk had transformed into an elegant gentleman. Perhaps not yet entirely sober, but a gentleman nonetheless.
Thanks for the reply. My schedule isn't permitting live play at the moment, so I must step away. Thanks anyway. :)
^Canon as of now.

@Ciaran, I think we desperately need a voice of reason.
