Current My roleplay is all tabletop these days, and the part of the guild I used to hang out in doesn't exist anymore. To my friends from this site, I will think of you, and maybe I'll see you again someday.

To my friends from chat: I guess I'll see you around, since I'm still not using discord.

I don't actively RP on the site these days, but I might be convinced to come back if there's a cool fantasy or sci-fi group RP that can capture my interest. Catch me on Second Life, Wildstar, or Chat.

My life has gotten really chaotic. I'll be back to RPing when I can.

I need a good generic fantasy RP, but I can't find one.

At any rate I edited one of my previous posts to give more description on the MEC suit, what do you think?
Only problem is that I generally subscribe to the "humans aren't a race of total bastards" idea, which kinda precludes us stomping the shit out of any new races we come across.
I always found the humans everywhere stuff odd in sci-fi settings.

Also, I could picture it being an older model of such suits- big smokestacks on the back, and when running hot (aka running at a level of power consumption usually only seen in combat) it would be billowing smoke. Along with totally giving away their position in open areas and being a breathing hazard to some in more enclosed spaces, it could conceivably provide some degree of cover from enemy weapons fire.

But yeah, big, loud, noisy, belches smoke, and is probably annoying to find replacement parts for so she likely builds replacement chunks herself when she can. That would probably result in the occasional minor jam where she needs to really wrench the joint to move it past a certain point, etc.

Still helpful though! After all, having a mechanic who can simply flip up a car with one hand to reach the underside is... I don't wanna say handy here, since it's a really bad pun, but handy is the best word that fits.

Honestly, if a captain were a member I feel like they would just play peacekeeper... But if it's a big thing, We can have an authoritarian captain. Also, For the tech level. I'd like for the crew to have more Fallout style blaster weapons. And the main point of the ship is to escape, as the lasers only really have enough to pin a ship down just long enough to get away. As for aliens, I'd like to have sort of traditional sci-fi sort of aliens... (Though what counts as traditional is blurred.)

Alright, so like early, clunky energy weapons with power cells that are sometimes the size of car batteries. Cool.

The character that I was thinking of playing, again, a mechanic, would be a cyborg- not some sleek cyborg, but basically a MEC trooper from X-COM. Really big, kinda awkward in enclosed spaces, but she's good at working with machines and is really handy to have around when boarding or fighting in enclosed spaces.

For reference, though obviously not a girl, here's what a MEC trooper looks like. They've had their arms and legs amputated and replaced with mechanical interfaces to operate the MEC suit.

I don't really agree with the idea of captains. I really dislike the idea, because an overlording dictator doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

A good captain isn't an overlording dictator. That's how you end up with a mutiny and having your butt chucked out the airlock without a suit.

To think of a good captain, picture your group of friends- you're all generally equals, but there's probably one or two people that are generally the ones to instigate ideas or decide what you're all up to. Probably a bit more charismatic, at least around the group, and doesn't lead because they bully people into following them (at least I hope not) it's just that everyone generally seems to like their ideas, they listen when there's a disagreement / other idea, and people have generally come to trust them. THAT'S what a captain should be.
Any criminal group is going to need a leader, aka captain, to function as a cohesive unit rather than just a bunch of thugs willing to backstab each other to get ahead. Someone needs the last say on what the plan is and how things are handled. There's a reason such a position evolved.

Any skilled crew that can elude capture for so long would need a good captain to lead the path.

Anyway, what did you have in mind for alien species / general tech level? Obviously sci-fi, but how sci-fi? We talking like Halo humanity stuff where it's near future (i.e. still projectile weapons) but we still have interstellar space flight, or crazy far future with light bridges and ubiquitous energy weapons and the like?

I have an idea for a mechanic type character that could be fun, if a bit unwieldy.
I actually had the privilege of getting to work with Yorick on trying to turn this setting into a tabletop wargame- got some pretty cool material, but sadly the team collapsed, between Yorick distancing himself from the fandom and one of the core group members leaving the project in a very destructive and unprofessional manner.

Ruddy cool setting, though.

Lizardmen and Skaven are AWESOME.
Sorry, this week is just suddenly turning shitty for me. This will be happening, likely just going to be a delay before we start.
